  1. Eh, it's history back and forth. At various points in time the Irish were only too happy to come over to England to act as enforcers to prevent rebellion. They were one of the threats Charles I used in an attempt to prevent any threats against the crown from the people and aristocracy, so it's not exactly a surprise Cromwell put the boot firmly in. Then again, if you judge by the standards of warfare of the time period and what was happening in the rest of Europe, Cromwell was fairly decent in his behaviour and the rules of warfare he used. But there's a fair bit of myth and popular revisionism that's taken hold over the centuries about it all.
  2. Patrick Stewart's response to the Ice Bucket Challenge.. http://youtu.be/wkO4NIqAMss No nominations, just one undisclosed cheque, and a drink..
  3. Heh, this review of the new Sin City amused me..
  4. Okay, how about we throw in a random mix to help the weekend along?
  5. Depending on your sense of snicker.. http://wtfbadromancecovers.tumblr.com/ It is what it says it is...
  6. Essgee did do damn fine productions of Gilbert & Sullivan.. http://youtu.be/h4Wj2yMuTIU
  7. I've found in the Dryford Ruins a door that keeps telling me I need Mechanics 7 to unlock it.. But I have a Rogue with Mechanics 7 and it doesn't do anything. If I have the entire party selected and click on the door, I get the "Requires Mechanics 7" message in the log. If I select just the Rogue with that skill, they simply move in front of the door, nothing happens, not even any messages showing up in regards to it. I'd expect the door to actually open in that situation... Or at least some form of message saying why it doesn't open.
  8. Although on another go through , I've found if I have the entire party selected and click on the locked door in the Cultist Ruins I now get a "Requires Mechanics 7" message in the log.. Which is odd because my Rogue has Mechanics 7. If I select just the Rogue and click on the door, I get nothing. No message, and no open door. WIth the entire party selected.. just the "you need Mechanics 7" message.
  9. I had no crash memory leak, but by the time I returned to Medreth* I did find about half a dozen boars. Since the fight I find the loot constantly respawns whenever I move back to the area. *Note: By return, I do mean I'd wandered into the Inn, the Tannery, the Weaponsmiths etc and talked to everyone in those locations first.
  10. Well the rope and grapnel should come into play during certain scripted sequences. You know how when you click on the dragon egg, you get the descriptive text, the options to climb up or not, who to do the climbing? If you have gear in your inventory that could be used, it should add that as an option as part of the natural flow.
  11. I just don't get any messages. Rogue walks up to a door and nothing. Whether it's in that Cultist ruins, or the Inn, or the Tannery... So I'd guess that might slide this more into a bug then a "I have no clue what I'm doing" avenue...
  12. I think my Rogue has Mechanics level 7 at the moment. But you don't get any messages of "you cannot open this lock" just nothing happening at all. I just wasn't sure if there were any specific icons you had to click on to actually try picking locks.
  13. Well. I used the BB Fighter with his Might and Athletics to climb up there with rope and grapnel, and he succeeded in getting it down. Unfortunately, although it told me to return the Egg to Hendyna, I get no options to do that when I return to the village to talk to her. So that's a wee bit odd.
  14. Yeah. I keep finding lockpicks. And then they disappear from my inventory. Ah well.
  15. Okay, I have to wonder, am I missing something here. How do you actually try using Mechanics to open locked doors? So far I've found a few doors that show that icon of a doorway with a red keyhole, but nothing on how to pick them. Hell, I've picked up various keys in locations and none of them seem to do anything so far either... My Rogue goes up to doors, and just stands there doing nada... Which seems a little pointless.
  16. I've had this happen a few times. What I've found is if I quit to the main menu and then load a save game, the quests all reappear. But if I load a save game from within the game, then the quests go walkabout and pull a vanishing act.
  17. ..Tsk. for fraks sake.. Gamespot - Shadows of Mordor DLC pass announced The game isn't even released and they're already hyping this..
  18. Because it had to turn up.... http://youtu.be/hEcjgJSqSRU
  19. I have to admit, glancing in at this thread has had a certain entertaining image of a car trip and the kids going "Are we theeeeeere yet?"
  20. No, that's Bo Martin Erik Erikson the lead guy of E-Type. Well, I can never tell if E-Type is the whole group or just him. He's Swedish, so who knows..

  22. Since when do time zones matter to people on the internet?
  23. Tried to do some stretching today, but frankly.. "ow". My hips and upper thighs are firmly in the painful stage, one knee keeps locking up stiff, I've got a bunch of bruises that are developing into some impressive patterns and colours, and it's surprising how awkward it can be to move around. Even when laying down to shift and change position can send spikes of ache and pain out from various locations. I've been told I'm walking like a slightly drunk John Wayne. I think it might be time to take some more ibuprofen.
