  1. When you get distracted from actually exploring and just start seeing how things build...
  2. At the moment I haven't touched any of the DLC. Most of it seems to be purely cosmetic rather than anything beyond "I want the thing I have that does x to look like this rather than that."
  3. I can't actually say I'm playing Conan Exiles at the moment. The trouble being whenever one of those sorts of games releases huge update/expansion.... Now every time I go "Oh, I have some time to have a quick half hour / hour play before I have to deal with x" I log on.. and it then spends 50 minutes doing an update / patch and leaving me staring at the "preallocating" message from steam while nothing appears to happen. Le Sigh.
  4. The Vodquila was an interesting experiment, and worked quite well with a dash of proper ginger beer....
  5. "Man, that Dune trailer was so amazing I felt like I was the one walking through a desolate landscape, wearing a mask to stay alive, while political machinations that threaten the planet are at work in the background of my life."
  6. I vaguely knew most of that. It was that semi-memory that couldn't recall the exact specifics but knew the general gist of it.

  8. I'm always a sucker for the Inama Nushif montage and music in Children of Dune. It hit all the right points for a montage sequence compressing a whole heap of book into explainable cinema experience, and the score just hits the emotional feedback. Inama nushif (She is eternal) Al asir hiy ayish (No malice can touch) Lia-anni (Singular and ageless) Zaratha zarati (Perpetually bound) Hatt al-hudad (Through the tempest) Al-maahn al-baiid (be it deluge or sand) Ay-yah idare (A singular voice) Adamm malum (speaks through the torrent) Hatt al-hudad (Through the tempest) Al-maahn al-baiid (be it deluge or sand) Ay-yah idare (A singular voice) Adamm malum (speaks through the torrent) Inama nishuf al a sadarr (Forever her voice sings) Eann zaratha zarati (through the ages eternally bound) Kali bakka a tishuf ahatt (Sacrifice is her gift) Al hudad alman dali (one that cannot be equaled) Inama nishuf al a sadarr (Forever her voice sings) Eann zaratha zarati (through the ages eternally bound) Kali bakka a tishuf ahatt (Sacrifice is her gift) Al hudad alman dali alia (that Alia will one day equal) Inama nushif (She is eternal) Al asir hiy ayish (No malice can touch) Lia-anni (Singular and ageless) Zaratha zarati (Perpetually bound)
  9. C'mon, the one thing that will never, ever be topped or unseen and scrubbed from the memory .. is Sting's Groinal Batarang in Dune.
  10. For that comparison aspect... Edit: Apparently the use of that Pink Floyd song in the trailer is a callback to how Jodorowsky planned to get Pink Floyd heavily involved in the soundtrack when he was trying to get Dune filmed.
  11. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm mostly just using the single-player mode to get a feel for it and know what I'm doing. I'll likely give one of the normal servers a try at some point to see what things are like with other players around.
  12. I enjoyed the hell out of CK2, but I think I'm firmly in the camp of waiting a long while before I get CK3. Pretty much wait for the next years updates and balances..and the assortment of DLC expansions to come out and be on sale..
  13. Started up the single-player Conan Exiles to see what its like and pick up how it works, spent about 5 hours collected stone and tree stuff, killing a few things built a small house at that first river/lake area to get to grips with how things work. Am kind of disappointed in the combat so far - yes, its somewhat brutal, but it does feel very random hack and slashy. I'd have expected something a bit more elegant and gruesome from a Conan game.
  14. I was curious and picked up the base game in the sales, I haven't actually sat down and started it properly yet...
  15. https://kotaku.com/halo-fan-builds-25-000-brick-frigate-out-of-lego-1845006422 Steve Witt has spent the last five years building a Paris-class UNSC heavy frigate from Halo that is over seven feet long.
  16. Well remember, as I recall, Villenueve was originally saying he planned to do Dune as two films. With the plague I've lost track of whether that was still the plan or whether it has actually all been condensed into a single feature. I really should google-fu it up. And Chalamet has talked about the fact that one of the key appeals to him was that Paul is as much an anti-hero / journey to become the villain rather than your typical protagonist, so I'll personally be curious how he plays that out.
