When you get distracted from actually exploring and just start seeing how things build...

At the moment I haven't touched any of the DLC. Most of it seems to be purely cosmetic rather than anything beyond "I want the thing I have that does x to look like this rather than that."

I can't actually say I'm playing Conan Exiles at the moment. The trouble being whenever one of those sorts of games releases huge update/expansion.... Now every time I go "Oh, I have some time to have a quick half hour / hour play before I have to deal with x" I log on.. and it then spends 50 minutes doing an update / patch and leaving me staring at the "preallocating" message from steam while nothing appears to happen. Le Sigh.

The Vodquila was an interesting experiment, and worked quite well with a dash of proper ginger beer....

I'm always a sucker for the Inama Nushif montage and music in Children of Dune. It hit all the right points for a montage sequence compressing a whole heap of book into explainable cinema experience, and the score just hits the emotional feedback. For that comparison aspect... Edit: Apparently the use of that Pink Floyd song in the trailer is a callback to how Jodorowsky planned to get Pink Floyd heavily involved in the soundtrack when he was trying to get Dune filmed.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm mostly just using the single-player mode to get a feel for it and know what I'm doing. I'll likely give one of the normal servers a try at some point to see what things are like with other players around.

I enjoyed the hell out of CK2, but I think I'm firmly in the camp of waiting a long while before I get CK3. Pretty much wait for the next years updates and balances..and the assortment of DLC expansions to come out and be on sale..

Started up the single-player Conan Exiles to see what its like and pick up how it works, spent about 5 hours collected stone and tree stuff, killing a few things built a small house at that first river/lake area to get to grips with how things work. Am kind of disappointed in the combat so far - yes, its somewhat brutal, but it does feel very random hack and slashy. I'd have expected something a bit more elegant and gruesome from a Conan game.

I was curious and picked up the base game in the sales, I haven't actually sat down and started it properly yet...
