Ok, I give up It was an April's fools joke.

Both are sick, actually. There is a pretty big difference between a FPS or GTA style game and an actual realistic murder simulation. Examples?

I find the figure of Satan highly interesting, both the real, the poetic and theologic. Walsh@: I agree with your concept of Satan's fall and I add that there is a need for hell and a devil. It's the fear of hell and eternal punishment that kept people in line; you can think of them as the theological police, making sure that there are otherworldly consequences for worldly actions. In the Judgment he stands as an accuser; which is the actual meaning of the word Satan. In real life that role was attributed to Satan using him as a scapegoat for evil; which was attributed to God before. Somewhere along the line someone asked: "How can God be both merciful and cause evil?" and thus a mysterious figure from the Old Testament was risen to a position of power. Which is a strange event since he was just mentioned a few time during the whole book and wasn't a notorious demon amongst mystics. Considering that Judaic tradition has no Hell and no Devil I would say that both were conceived at a later time as an Aggadah to separate God from evil. This then was carried on to the New Testament in which the Devil appears more frequently since he had already declared the supreme demon. From then on the evolution continues, but that drifts away from your point.

It's 3 in the morning, don't you have anything better to do? BTW, look for the checkered waves illusion.

Forget the whole series, FFVI is the best one!

But didn't they had it copyrighted? What that mayor did seems highly illegal, he's a pirate!

Considering that during WW2 200,000 women average, were forced into sexual slavery among the Japanese occupied territories and that the number of rapes that went unaccounted; I doubt that the problem stems from WW2. Or the fact that the samurai were somewhat notorious for rapes; alas this was after they turned to thieving as a result of the end of the Sengoku. Nor that the first "tentacle" work was "The fisherman's wife" and it was done when Tokyo was still Edo; commentators can dress it up as they like but methinks Japanese are just weird.

When I did my military service, it didn't gave me discipline neither was the making of me. Probably because Cuba's military service; while necessary, is pointless. Basically, it is a lot of drills and preparations and it can't make soldiers out most of them.

My family is from the capital, and like I said none of that money is belongs to the people; the economy and the living conditions of most people greatly differ. And again I say all those fancies are just jingling keys, instead of creating better paying jobs or legalizing beef he gives out pans and cheap phones which are of no real use. War?Occupation?Genocide? What kind of Russian drugs are you on? The "Freedom" I'm talking about is not having to worry or look over your shoulder every second, or have to put up with being forced to march to every public demonstration or one of a large list of reasons. No; most people wouldn't mind that, or spending a 3 days on holding just because "someone" received information that there was going to be a homosexual manifestation the next day. Even the most die hard communist on Cuba, stutters or holds his tongue once you begin to list the many transgressions committed by the government. Anyway arguing with you is a moot point, especially when you are discussing it over the Internet and have not experienced any part of this regime.

And you know this from your extensive time on the island, no? I'm Cuban, lived there for 16 years, by the time I left the economy was suffering and from what I hear from relatives on the island it's worse. If the economy is great then where is that money, in Castro's pocket? Economic, yes. Could you specify on the military ones? But you forgot to add freedom; as any totalitarian regime every opposition is squashed rapidly before it can make the international news. That is something that the regime is good at, saving face in front of the international community.

First, that text was from 1973. But, it is still awesome because of the amount of text dedicated to "Could a person who masturbates be a true Marxist revolutionary?". I'm almost going to put that into my sig. You would be surprised how little the island changed in these years. While many of these laws became more relaxed they were still enforced from time to time, just to keep a reminder that "they still can" and the ideological enforcement continues even today. Not one word of opposition possible, constant fear of being watched so you watch what you say, and there are some other stigmas that are unique to the island carrying over from those days when these legislation where throughly enforced. These new movement in favor of homosexual is just misdirection to keep the world from seeing Cuba's steadily declining economy which is heading either towards a reform or a collapse. Basically just imagine Fidel jingling homosexual keys in front of the world to keep them entertained while gets away with anything.

Sure, but it needs to stay in the realm of philosophy and not try to pass itself off as science (although I would say that there is some flaws in the philosophy as well). Well it can't pass as a science since its mostly dismissed by every academia, which are not even willing to accept it as a thesis. This is still a religious idea; but I find the blatant disregard of scientist who choose to pursue it a little more than biased. As it was done when Darwin's ideas where on the defending side, I bring up the term agnostic; a position that Darwin himself took. You can't prove or disprove the existence of a Supreme being, in the same way that every proof that exist supporting evolution could be thrown out by a skeleton out of place and time. Aside from math there is no exact science, so I truly don't understand why are people so smug about their own ignorance.

No, they pretty much labeled those as "pervert" pillows. The same way that they have those "pervert" dolls, frankly if he was buying them for his daughters it would be creepy x2; since it's Japan. PS: exchange all the instances of pervert with Japanese and you will get my meaning.

In a bizarre switch everyone EXCEPT the government goes mad

What you say is true, and is one of the reasons why conquest is one of my preferred motivations for war. On the other hand I believe that the motivations for every war are economical and not diversity amongst cultures. Even if the human motivations where another they tie in with the economy. P.S. I cannot look the other way on this comment. We shall duel at dawn tomorrow, and seeing as we both read the same book: one of us will show up late and the other early. Or in the most likely case no one shows up at all. But seriously, I do find it more useful since is easy to apply to personal endeavors than The Art of War. -

Well, Sun Tzu did write about human nature. Considering that people have been using his advice in one form or another for around two millenia now, you have to say he probably had a fairly decent grasp on human nature. Hell, he's the one that said the best general is the one who doesn't need to resort to force and solves the problem before armies have to start moving. That is only one side of human nature, IMO what he had a grasp on was the psychology of warfare. He stresses the seriousness of it, with a minimalist approach that tried to avoid conflict altogether. My point is that while "conflict reveals much about one's character" is the intent and the approach to this revelations that define one's true nature. @Walsh: that specific anecdote is one of my favorite from him. If you like the Art of War you should try The Book of Five Rings, it delves more into personal combat than into strategy but is a good read. -

Sorry I make it a point to not take advise on human nature from the guy that wrote the book on war. Oh, and if good is a human product and bad it's counterpart then they are both products. That's why ethics are so sketchy -

Fallout 3 had something that I felt lacking in this game: character progression. With so many cool monsters that have abilities the game would had benefited from it; or it would had been more akin to my tastes. Also aside from the main story the sidequests feel lacking, most of them are gather and deliver. On the good side, I love the Diabloesque inventory and weapons tiers. -

Not quite my belief but close. I believe that there is a range of normalcy and civic behavior and that it covers all relatively well adjusted people. Some of them non violent offenders even, and like you said you need to be TRAINED for everything. So there must be some form of conditioning yourself for murder, even if someone were to commit the act they don't tend to develop a dependence or taste for killing. I would count the rare cases as an extreme side of the spectrum and say that if removed from an environment which promotes violent behavior they will be able to successfully rehabilitate. BTW, good manners aren't a requisite for good will or intentions. A poor chap might not now how to properly behave but he can still do good actions and be good willed in his own way. Lack of proper education is not a cause, it adds to the problem but is not the main cause.
