  1. Programmers are always more negative.
  2. I'm Ok with that
  3. Whose the village idiot then? Dunno, but we have a troll living under our bridge. We have our own bridge? Awesome. Is that what spurred the thread about euthanizing homeless people? That and the hippies living outside our home. Seriously this is what I love about the Obsidian forums. The threads like this one, the quirky personalities, brains and good humor. We are small enough to care when one of our own passes away, to have a sense of community. Which is a stark contrast to the flood in the BioBoards where a single good Idea is lost in a sea of crap.
  4. Whose the village idiot then?
  5. Today was the continuation of my Valentine weekend or should I more aptly say the conclusion. Spend free time at school having some of the most interesting conversations that I've had in a while, a few which were with a girl I actually like. The rest where crazy ramblings with my friends, one of those really long ones where you stop at the middle and recap how you got there. We started with comics and ended up with the situation in Egypt, not without throughly discussing the NATO/Russia bullet conversions.
  6. It's probably c) working sprees are common for the last stages of a game.
  7. Russia has no respect for copyright laws or DRM, a reason why a lot pirates exploit Russian versions of games in order to crack them. Mayhap publishers should stop releasing games in Russia if they are getting pirated Also your analogy it's a little faulty since the act of listening can't be charged since it's unintentional. Piracy; from a criminal point of view, would be more akin to the police finding a basement full pirated movies and charging you with counterfeit.
  8. It has a horror theme. Look if anyone has any complaints take them to wikipedia, Imdb and with Bravo. They all seem to think that it's a horror movie, much like Scream despite it's tongue in cheek tone was.
  9. that's exactly why it could actually work It's a double edged sword, familiarity breeds contempt after all. To take the Crysis situation as an example; for discussion's sake lets say that they had a strong community. They decide not to release a demo for PC and one member of that community with entitlement issues decides to hack the game/pirate it. Just because he feels that they have betrayed his trust/sold out to console. It can work at the right emotional distance and if that trust it's not abused; BIOWARE.
  10. The topic is about scariest movies, not funniest movies Horror movie, it still counts.
  11. I still don't think that PC gaming would be the strongest platform; even without piracy. Maybe this whole situation it's one of those cyclical things, where the attention shifts from PC to Consoles back and forth. It certainly was the case during the arcade years, then again in the new golden age and now with the current gen of consoles. yeah, they should be looking for ways to prevent it, Steam is a good example. not only because of digital distribution, but mostly thanks to achievements, friend lists etc. Building a community it's a good way to ensure a sell, it builds a rapport between developer/publisher and the customer. There is a personal investment on the customer part as they feel part of something and are less likely to take any action that may be detrimental. Then again that it's not a direct mean of fighting piracy.
  12. Problem is that you take down one site and 3 new ones appear, I don't think that there is a direct mean to fight piracy. Other than making your product so unavailable that no one can use it BTW we have been talking about piracy hurting PC gaming for a while and we haven't touched on Steam or GOG. They are obviously going strong and are much preferred than hard copies of games. Maybe it's the publishers inability to adapt to the differences of the PC market that has caused their losses.
  13. I find the lack of Bruce Campell in this thread disturbing. "Evil Dead"
  14. How could they remake that? It was scary enough the first time with Shawn & Marlon Wayans. I don't think that you are talking about what you think are talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_White_Female and "The Roommate" may not be a remake per-se but I'm getting a strong vibe that they are the same.
  15. So you got an 1/10 from his mom too? and somehow your comeback is to make a pun out that fact. Marvelous wit of yours, you should consider writing for BW.
  16. But the problem with counterfeiting is that the fault lies solely with the counterfeiter and there is no monetary trade for internet piracy. Since we also use the term pirate for anyone who illegally downloads a immense amount of pirated material and counterfeiting doesn't encompass their guilt in the matter, I believe that it isn't an appropriate term. This is an unique phenomenon of a digital age and should be considered in its own class, IMO.
  17. It's Valentine and I fee like making love
  18. Actually, a lot of people think that this hack was a reaction to Crytek not releasing a PC demo.
  19. Why do I even bother?
  20. Also we are going to Man-Hell for not posting this Cool men have unlit cigarettes on their mouths, ALWAYS.
  21. No, you said that Kreia was a one dimensional character. Let's do a side by side comparison of Kreia vs. every other NPC out there. Right off the bat you know she is not a Jedi, eve if it's implicit you realize that she is a destitute Sith. Despite this she becomes your mentor since you are bound to her and can only retrain yourself through her. All the time mentoring she shoots your expectations down, revealing more about the characters surrounding you than them. She manages to protect you and breed you for an ultimate confrontation and in the end be it that whatever you choose (light or dark) she'll besmirch you for it. She is the character driving the story, the mastermind behind this whole plot and by her influence the whole KOTOR storyline. Please do mention another companion that matches all of her accomplishments. You want to see one dimensional, why don't we take a look at ME companions? Being the quintessential representation of their species and basically interchangeable with any of them.
  22. Too subtle to claim that this is "not much to do with piracy really". Once it's on the net it doesn't really matter how it got there*. The game has been pirated many times over by now. *Although a copy that has no protection is certainly worse than a copy that has yet to be cracked. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, for example, was available to download long before it was ever cracked. I know that a lot the hacker teams wait at least a week to release it so that the game may have it's sales. Don't know how much help it is
  23. It's something I'm thinking of avoiding until I actually play the game.. since it has the potential to spoil some in-game story I imagine... I read the first issue, It doesn't go any further than what the previews have shown. Mostly background stuff on how the world reacts to the advent of the singularity, the characterization of Jensen seems a little off sometimes due to facial expressions.
  24. Here it is; a quality voice
