Celebrating the fact that Woldan managed to post without adding more men to this thread, here's a pic of my cousin! I'm pretty sure you won't see the likeness, but they look the same when she laughs, squinted eyes and all. She used to have black hair too. Btw, sorry about the size/quality/filters/etc, ****ing Google image search..

I just realized that that's actually the cooler I use too. It's surprisingly efficient. My CPU hovers around 36-38C.

I was watching a video tour of the Piranha Bytes offices (shut up, I'm not obsessed!) and this came up: Seems they enjoyed Stick of Truth. Neat.

I think I spent 8 or 10 hours with Battlefield 4.. Don't judge me, it came free with my graphics card!!

Yeah, Grim Dawn is on my wishlist too. I really enjoyed Titan Quest, more so than any other action RPG as a matter of fact, and this looks even better. Especially the setting since I never really took to the ancient Greece mythology setting in Titan Quest.. Anyhow, I'm playing Watch_Dogs (does it really have that underscore there..?) and the graphics are superb. Running everything at max and 2560x1440 resolution. I'm hovering between 40-50 fps mostly, except in town where it goes as low as 28 (!) or the outskirts where it's at 60. It's so annoying when people complain about the bad graphics in this game, that the E3 reveal a couple of years ago looked so much better. I honestly think this game looks absolutely superb. Especially in motion with the shadows and lights and NPC's everywhere.

Whaa..? But that's the main battle tactic of the S-Tank! You use the front hull blade to dig the tank into the ground so the only thing that's visible is the gun..

I must say I'm very positively surprised by Watch_Dogs. When I first started playing it, it seemed like it would become repetitive very quickly. And it did. I did the tutorial mission and then I started running around in the city just hacking things and exploring.. and it got kind of old. But then I did one main mission and the game opened up unexpectedly. A few more missions in and I'm almost overwhelmed by the choices before me, in a good way. There are several story threads I am eager to find out the next chain of events in, the main mission is getting interesting, the gang hideouts are fun as hell to clear, the environmental puzzles are really cool and surprisingly varied and even the history tidbits are interesting (never knew how much violence Chicago has been through!). There are weaknesses of course, but the positives are outweighing them 10:1 right now. Edit: one cool thing that I might mention is that I've cleared all the CT towers except one, more than half of the gang hangouts and a lot of other violent activities.. and I've never fired my gun! I just sneak around with my blackjack and smack people. I love that this is even an option.

1. Sit inside and play games all day. In my underwear. 2. Buy underwear and a toothbrush. 3. Pretend it was supposed to be a Christmas ball all along and light the ****er.

Not sure what the fuss is about Uplay either. I tried to connect tonight, the game tried for like three seconds, then it said "Connection failed, want to play offline?". Clicked the offline button and the game started as usual. I guess I'd be less apathetic about it unless I had read that this is Ubisofts fastest selling game to date. I'm guessing their servers are getting hammered.

Looks very good. I just wish it wasn't online and had a single player story.

I was just going to add.. I'm running everything maxxed out at 2560x1440 on my R9 290X and I can't see how this game is badly optimized. But maybe my card is brute-forcing its way through this code? Did I mention that I love my 290X?

Also playing Watch Dogs. I haven't even started the main missions yet, just driving/running around Chicago is so much fun. Amazingly detailed world! I love to just rob people (electronically, of course) and stop crimes (not so electronically..) and putter about. Hearing the little tidbits from people's lives and doing those house invasion thingies are also cool. We will see what the main story brings, but I've played four hours so far and I already know I'll be getting my money's worth out of this game. Right up my alley!

Not playing anything right now, but guess what I'm playing when I get home from work: I hope it's good.

An achievement that's actually an achievement..? What is this?! DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW MANY HAND-HELD-SINCE-BIRTH LITTLE HEARTS YOU ARE BREAKING NOW?!?

Yeah, I noticed the pirate version is out too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU_Xjgru_pY 30 minute preview of Risen 3.. with a second part that I didn't watch (and am too lazy to link to). Lots of complaints about not enough improvements graphically from Risen 2, but I think it looks good enough.
-
Hmm.. The first Van Helsing was decent. Getting a slight urge to try Helsing 2 now. Staahp!

A few relatively new screenshots from Risen 3: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.557194557724601.1073741833.396061400504585&type=1 ..on Facebook. What always impresses me the most when it comes to graphics are long viewing distances, something Bethesda has absolutely nailed. The first Gothic game had it too, but since then they've not been so impressive. It looks like this trend is about to continue with Risen 3. Otherwise it looks good. Edit: OK OK! I'll add one here too. Lazy bums.

I get seasick from looking at your pics. Get your horizons straightened!!

Ok, so I gave that Bandicam a try. Very easy to install and understand. Chose GPU-assisted HW compression in H.264. Started Dead Island, running everything maxxed out at 2560x1440, recording at 1280x720, 60 fps. This is the result: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjbk_r5OLWA The file ended up being 880 MB, despite using H.264 and only being 3:20. Not sure what I did wrong, but I analyzed the file and it streams 36000+kbps. Not sure why it chose such a gigantic bitrate.. not sure how to control it either. When I play the game normally at these settings, it hovers around 240 fps. While recording it averaged 130 fps. Did I mention I ****ing love my Radeon R9 290X? The program lacks the cache recording ability (last XX seconds of gameplay always available), unless I missed something.

I bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/AOC-Q2770PQU-27-Inch-2560x1440-Resolution/dp/B00HY7PBF6/ Not the cheapest, not the most expensive. I basically bought it because it was the only 2560x1440 monitor that supported MHL at the time. But boy, have I been impressed. If I didn't know better, I would have thought this was a professional monitor. Perfect colours (out of the box), no backlight bleeding, almost perfect backlight uniformity (slighty weaker at the edges, if you look carefully), fantastic viewing angles and it's fast. No ghosting whatsoever. I'm still not sure if AOC have upped their game or if I've been lucky.

Weird necro-post.. but good tip nonetheless. I'll try Bandicam. Thanks!
