Started playing The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 2 today. It's surprisingly good. It's like they've taken everything that was good about the first game and made it better, removed most of the annoyances and added cool new features. Quite an accomplishment to make so many changes and still make it feel like it was all for the better.

Why Malmö? How many times have you been shot today?

Yeah, wifi only. It doesn't bother me since I have a Xiaomi phone too so whenever I get out of wifi range, it automatically connects to my phone and uses it as a 3G hotspot. Not sure if it works so seamlessly on other devices. Xiaomi aren't really "cheap Chinese electronics" though. That's just ignorance speaking. Xiaomi sells top-of-the-line hardware at production cost and makes money through their services instead. This means they're only cheap compared to other brands because they have no hardware markup, not because they skimped on quality. I also must recommend the MIUI Android branch. It has actually turned out to be faster than stock Android in tests! It also has a lot of very cool features that are missing from vanilla Android. ..and because I can't get over how great the battery life on this thing is, I just have to post this pic: This is after relatively light use (Imgur app in the bathroom, reading news in the morning, watching vides before bed, etc.), but still.. It's damn impressive anyhow!

I'm waiting to see how the next HTC made nexus 9 tablet turns out. I'd really like a tablet for emulator usage with preferably 4:3 display and a controller like the one Bokishi has. Too bad only iPads tend to have 4:3 display, I like it much more than 16:10 android devices tend to have. Would also be perfect for ps1 and older games. The Mi Pad I'm using is 2048x1536, That's 4:3 if you're to lazy to calculate. It also uses the Tegra K1 as seen in the Shield. I'm very satisfied with it so far. Very impressive piece of kit. I especially love the stamina. When I'm writing this, the battery is at 79% and the battery stats say "2 days 21 hours since last charging". My phone needs to charge every day to survive..

Started playing Spec Ops: The Line the other night. I've read some positive reviews about it, both professional and user. And now I hate people. It's just a ****ty corridor shooter with dude bro soldiers shouting cliches at each other. I've played a few hours but it's just so bad! What on earth did people see in this game?! It. ****ing. Sucks. And to everyone who recommended it: I hate you all.

I've been playing Torchlight 2 again after Risen 3 ended (boohoo). I thought I'd continue playing until a legendary item dropped. I checked just now: 161 hours played, 0 legendary items dropped. I'm beginning to think I'm extremely unlucky when it comes to things like this. I remember being the only one in our guild who never had a purple (I think it was) item drop in World of Warcraft. I had 1000+ hours on that character..

The only guy I listened to was Bones because I liked his delivery. But yeah.. I'm guilty of that skipping habit in almost every game, Risen series included. Which is weird, because I whine like a little girl when I have to play games without voice-acting..

I love when Torchlight 2 showers me with gold.. Sweet, sweet gold.

I've only played through it once, but I maxed out all attributes on that one run. Exploring is rewarding in Piranha Bytes games. I also have to agree that the balancing was wayyyy off in this game. In the beginning my companions killed everything (or at least it felt like it). By the midpoint I didn't bring any companions because it was more fun to fight by myself. In the end I one or two-shotted everything and I think I only died when I checked if lava was insta-kill or burn damage (it was insta-kill).
-
Well, I recently read a thread claiming that females are now the majority of gamers. Apparently we need this thread, we're the minority now.
-
Typical Piranha Bytes. They usually only have like.. five different armours in their entire games. Luckily it usually doesn't matter much, so you can basically wear whatever looks the nicest. In a way, I prefer this. It always annoys me in games when I find some armour I find aesthetically pleasing, but because of its stats (and my character's reliance on these stats) I am forced to wear some anime ****.

Yeah, that was the one I used too. Best I ever found and I don't think I missed a single weapon in this game. I loved it, but it was definitely too small for me (the game, that is).

Well, I beat the game yesterday. I actually liked the end boss battle! Usually Piranha Bytes have these weird.. not sure what to call them.. well, let's just say that when you finally reach the end of the game, suddenly your skills mean crap and you're introduced to some strange, new game feature (QTE's, special equipment, jump puzzles, you name it) that only the boss has. This time the end boss was just a regular enemy, albeit much stronger. As usual, I've cleaned out the game and my desire to replay it is zero. I've found all the artifacts, done all available quests (only left one because it was time triggered and not worth waiting for) and I'm pretty certain I've found 90%+ of the game's secrets. Oh, and all you other game developers, take note: THIS is how you make an exploration game. SOmetimes I was just fooling around and I think I've reached a place you're not supposed to be able to reach. And then I find one lousy gold coin on the ground. ONE. Just the developer's way of acknowledging you being there. I don't always need riches and cool stuff, that single coin is sometimes enough. Of course, Risen 3 is chock-full of these details. I loved it. The only game I've been able to replay several times is Gothic 3. That game was just so vast that even if you explore your heart out there was always something you missed. I wonder if that's why I liked it so much despite its numerous flaws?

Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition Announced
mkreku replied to CoM_Solaufein's topic in Computer and Console
Icewind Dale is still the only Infinity engine based game I've ever completed. I like snow. I still remember this feeling of "If only I get out of this screen, maybe the game will open up?" I got from each and every map in that game. I've never played a game that gave me so much claustrophobia as Icewind Dale. The game never did open up. It's a corridor of tiny maps, from beginning to end, with a completely unnecessary world map (there is no world). Did I mention how much I dislike the Infinity engine? I disliked it then, I dislike it now. -
Overlooking a volcano in Risen 3.

I got my first naval battle. It was great. Makes me wonder why they couldn't have made it so we controlled the ships ourselves between islands and let the sea battles be more 'organic' instead. Oh well. I'm nearing the end of the game. It's a much better game than both Risen and Risen 2 for me, especially now that climbing works as it should and swimming is back. But the islands still suffer from not having enough real estate. It's just annoying when someone gives you a quest to go out and search for a scouting party (for example) and you turn around and you can literally see the scout party a few steps away (this actually happens on the last island albeit in a different form). Gothic 3 it ain't. All in all a great game. I've spent 60+ hours in it so I got my money's worth.
-
I finally chose faction yesterday. Because I'm lazy and the island I was on at the time had them, I went with Demon Hunters. So far the only thing I've noticed is that my dodge maneuver is now a teleport and my clothes became goth.

I need to go to the same merchants as you! My named sword is only something like 55-85! But I agree. The weapons are really not good this time. I have this musket that's quite good, worth 650 gold and shoots for 65 damage. Then I find this cool named musket, worth 1000 gold, and I check its stats: exactly the same as my no-name musket. So disappointing. It has happened a lot: new weapons, worth more in gold but with way worse stats. The entire equipment table is a mess. I'm still enjoying the game though.

Adult females overthrown teen males as largest gaming demographic
mkreku replied to Bryy's topic in Computer and Console
Just go on any online game that uses voice chat and see if you can find 50% women. Seriously. And before any of you sjw's come with your old "they don't dare show themselves because of the misogyny!!" retort, if they were 50%, what the **** would they have to be afraid of?! I've been gaming for 30 years and this stupid claim pops up at least once per year. "females outnumber men in gaming".. I'm so sick of it. -
Btw, I checked my Mi Pad this morning: 93% battery left, 2 days 10 hours since charging. I've only used it for browsing Imgur and random news in the morning and when eating these last few days, but still! The stamina on this thing is great! Also, Ars Technica reviewed the latest Mi phone the Mi4: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/08/xiaomi-mi4-review-chinas-iphone-killer-is-unoriginal-but-amazing/ It's a good review and I agree with most of it. It's almost impossible to not be impressed by the hardware of these Xiaomi thingies. Also, it's great that the MIUI Android branch is actually faster than the stock Android. It's unheard of! http://en.miui.com/ If you want to try it. It's excellent. Ported to hundreds of devices.

I think one of my companions just committed suicide just to not have to hang out with me

How come you changed your R9 290 for the Vapor-X?
