Three goals so far tonite.. GO LEAFS GO!
  3. So which is the fastest drive? I saw that Hitachi's 1 TB drive was pretty close to the Raptor, but I wouldn't say consistently faster..
  4. This sounds like Hades when he was trying to broaden his horizons by playing FPS's.. Next thread by Llyranor will be named "Why I'm quitting gaming FOREVAH!!1!".

If I had to cast my vote this early, I'd say Washingtons 19 year old, Niklas B
  6. Were you playing the All-Stars Midgets or something? You managed to make 5'7 (appr.) Koivu look big.

The Captain is almost the only reason I even bother checking out the results each morning. It's heartbreaking to see loss after loss (not yet, I know, but if the last two seasons were any indication..) day after day, but at least I can cheer as he breaks Leaf record after Leaf record. He will become the greatest goal scorer and point-getter in all Leaf history this season. A few more points to break the points record. He's already tying the goal record. Soon he'll have scored 400 goals in a Leaf jersey.. Meaningless stuff like that is what I have to look forward to this season.. Unless a miracle happens and Blake returns to his 40-goals-per-season form, Toskala develops into a starting goalie for the first time since he entered the NHL, McCabe becomes a defensive force, the youngsters start playing with the consistency of the vets (Steen, Stajan, Colaiacovo, Woznievski, Pohl, Newbury, White, etc.) and the entire team gels and starts playing systematic hockey. Yeah, I guess my glass is half empty.
  8. Too lazy to copy & paste the previous thread's posts here (since putting it in that quote thing didn't quite work), but I have to love the fact that Gromnir is using short quotes from old posts of mine discussing an entirely different game set in an entirely different setting to prove his point about me not liking ANY game that's not realistic. Grasping at straws, are we? I'll still call you a liar about that though. I mean, no matter how much you're arguing your point, it's kind of useless since you're trying to convince me what I like or not? You don't see the futility in that? Just stop trying to put words in other people's mouths (posts?) and you'll be OK. Feel free to pull small quotes out of context to "win" your straw-man argument, but the small quote you're so feverishly hanging on to was for a specific thread for a specific type of game. Feel free to interpret it any way you want, it doesn't really change a thing. A game set in a realistic setting, using real life events as a basis for its story and then resorts to "magic" to solve some inconsistencies.. Yes, that's what I call a failed story. Or a cop-out. Or an easy way out. No matter what I call it though, the point is that I don't like it. Just as I don't like meta-gaming by sitting with a bunch of rule books and predetermine the path my character will take once I get into the game in question in a few hours. I still find it funny that you can't even admit that you're meta-gaming and accuse ME of not role-playing because I don't like to sit and count dice. But hey, keep twisting it into a conversation about STALKER instead. I'm sure that suits your weird purpose much better since I'm not very interested in getting into that month old discussion again. I guess the big question for me, regarding this expansion, is whether it is possible to like it despite not being interested one iota in learning the rules? Since lots of people are saying it's more difficult than the OC maybe my light-handed approach to character building will make this game impossible to play? I've noticed that the combat in the OC has gotten a bit more challenging lately as my character seems to lack a magic (sigh) defense altogether.. I'm suspecting it won't get any better with heroic (was that what they were called?) levels.

We lost the first two. We lost all eight (or something) against them last year.. and you're telling me to quit my bitching? Shut. The. ****. Up.
  10. Thanks for proving my point! Now let's recap what you wrote earlier: The quote you provided was about one particular game, a game set in an alternate reality that's based on real life events, locations and equipment. Gee, great example there, Grommie-boy. Quite like shooting yourself in the foot, huh? Sure, I'd like that to be even more realistic and totally without para-normal events. I'm quite fed up with the majority of RPG's being fantasy, true. Does that mean I want every game to be ultra-realistic? Nope. Do I even want STALKER to be like that? Nope. Did I ever claim I wanted that? Nope. So where did you get that from? You came up with it yourself and tried to tack it on me. That's what I refer to as a liar, liar. You talk about me digging a hole? Well, try to crawl up from that one then. You mean looking more foolish than someone claiming lots of rubbish without backing anything up? Naah, don't think so, liar. And then you go on some tirade trying to prove you're not meta-gaming by quoting lots and lots of info from some obscure nerd rule book. Fantastic. Your rhetorical skills are almost as impressive as your ability to use proper English in your posts! But please, feel free to explain what you think is meta-gaming then. I've posted my opinion (even though it's "only" a Wikipedia-based source.. sigh), whereas you have yet failed to produce one. Trying to make me tremble in awe by the mere mention that a developer does stuff that I don't approve of is brown-nosing of the highest order. Try to realize that even though they work as game developers, they're still only human. That don't impress on me much, as a wise woman once sang. You're right, this is like therapy!
  11. I think a secession would be good for the political climate in the US, but not so good for the economic state. It would take an awful lot of balancing and rebuilding and.. well, politics to get everything in order. That would probably take a very long time, like 20 years or more. An interesting idea though. I've always felt that the US is too grand a nation with a too culturally divided population to be efficiently controlled from one point of power, the government as it exists now.
  12. Tomorrow Michael Moore's Sicko premieres in Sweden (it took a bloody while!). It has been getting raving reviews here in Sweden so I'll probably see it this weekend. It'll be fun to laugh at Moore's silly antics and think about how taks and the rest of the right wing fanatics are sitting a few thousand miles away trying to fruitlessly discredit the guy, all red in their little faces. :D
  13. For someone accusing people of so much random stuff, you provide precious little to back it up. Since you were very clearly wrong in the first place (which most everyone who ever read a post of mine knows since I mention Gothic on average three times in every post..), how much truth do you think this claim holds? This time I want you to back it up somehow or I'm going to call you out as the liar you are. Ball's in your court. Glad to help! "In role-playing games, a player is metagaming when they use knowledge that is not available to their character in order to give them an advantage within the game, such as knowledge of the mathematical nature of character statistics." Source: http://www.reference.com/search?r=13&q=Metagaming Seems I'm not the only one who learned something today! Besides, don't be so modest! I think we all know that your apprehension about the nerd rules goes a little beyond comparing fighters to wizards.. Heck, you're so damaged from all your PnP nights you can't even stop pretending you're an orc in real life. You know, like as when you write a post on a board? Now please tell me how having thorough understanding of the rules and planning your character beforehand is not metagaming? I'm interested in hearing your interpretation of the term. Really. Sorry to burst your little bubble yet again, but no matter how many times you write that someone "went off the deep end" or using the phrase "whimsy" (is that another nerd term I don't get?) doesn't make it true. Let the thread speak for itself, I am sure anyone reading this can determine who's off the "deep end" if they want to. It's almost as lame as starting a post with a chuckle to try to insinuate how much above this discussion you are.. Does. Not. Work. Like I said earlier in the thread, to each their own. Why would it bother me that a developer (ie. another human being, no need to brown-nose it, Grommie-boy) is metagaming? It doesn't. Yet again you fail to understand me. It's beginning to become the red thread of this pointless discussion. Ps. Sorry to call you out on your metagaming abilities. If I had known it was such a sore toe I would have stepped on another one.

Aahh, nothing beats the smell of a degrading loss in the morning! Only seven more to follow (from THIS team)!
  15. My favourite game series is called Gothic. What does that tell you about what you "know"? No, you're right, metagaming has never been any of my strengths. And of course it's coming from a position of ignorance compared to you who study these rules fanatically! In my book that's a good thing! Does that tell you anything about how well your attempt at trolling works..? And I guess I'm just not cool enough to be posting my responses in orc language either, so.. Live long and prosper!! (or whatever phrase suits you best)
  16. This is pretty funny. Not only do you think I prefer AD&D before this system used in MotB (that I still don't know the name of), based on God knows what grounds, but you write the above too.. What you don't seem to realize is that I don't like the rules used in NWN2 at all. I wish there were no rules! At least not visible to my eye. I'm not interested in dice rolls. I'm not interested in BAB or BAOB and all those weird abbreviations you guys use constantly. I'm not interested in combining classes in weird ways, or getting a +5 sword (what does that mean anyhow?!), or hitrolls and damrolls and damage per second and what feat leads to another! Just let me play the game and enjoy the story and develop my character as I see fit when I get the chance. It's like you guys play these games because of the D&D rules. I play them despite these rigid and stilted D&D rules. To each their own, I guess, but don't for a second think that you're having a "deeper" role-playing experience than I just because you're interested in the numbers behind the game. What I call role-play, you call "stoopid". What you call role-play I call roll-play.
  17. I guess Tagan will finally be able to sell some of their 1100W PSU's.
  18. ad&d were bass ackwards and retarded. Actually, I thought THIS was called AD&D. I don't even know what the hell I am playing! That's indicative of a broken system. A well-balanced and good character development system doesn't demand that its users learn each and every class from the ground up to be able to enjoy the game. The funny thing is that I remember a lot of folks on this very board were complaining about having to meta-game in Oblivion.. Oh, the irony. It almost hurts. No, but I'm sure sitting for hours before a game calculating which class brings what feats and skills and learning thick nerd books about rules that have no relevance in real life is a much more rewarding experience. As I said: roll-play.

Tonight my Leafs will face Ottawa in the first of what will be EIGHT games against them. Is someone here really trying to say that there's something good about that? The schedule is the worst change the NHL has done in.. forever. I do like the removal of the red line and I love the fact that they're trying to eliminate hooking and grabbing! Some people interpret that as if the league is trying to make hockey less physical. I interpret it the other way around! Now that players are getting penalized for hooking and grabbing, the only means they have for stopping a speeding opponent is a clean check. I believe such a rule change (or more like rule enforcing, since the rule has always been there) will encourage players to deliver more clean hits. It might take a while for this generation of players to change their ways, but eventually.. I wish they would decrease goalie equipment even more. If need be even enlarge the size of the nets. Something is wrong when a goalie can stand totally still and yet cover 95% of the goal. I wish goalies would be relying more on skill and reflexes than on huge pads of Styrofoam.
  20. I don't understand why you're all so worried about character builds. You actually sit and calculate which builds would be best at which levels and which feats you should take to maximize your damage! Why not just build whatever you feel like and choose the feats that seem the best at the time the choice pops up? That's what I've been doing and it works pretty well.. except for the fact that I try to dress my character as ugly as possible and that doesn't always bring with it the "best" stats. By the way, AD&D role-players really are roll-players after all.
  21. I had forgotten how crappy the graphics in WoW are.. Wow.
  22. The best games I've ever played, at least down to my top ten, have all been on the PC. Consoles are great for sports games and racing games but something is always missing from the rest of the games to not let them reach that greatness of the best PC titles. I guess it's easier to make money off of console games and it's probably too much of a hassle(hoff) porting them to PC at the same time.. Still sad news.
