Yes. I want this game to come out now. I feel I have waited long enough. So my honest and sincere reaction to this unspecified delay is.. WHAT IS TAKING SO GODDAMN LONG?! That is all.

I wonder what's up with Arcania: A Gothic Tale (aka. Gothic 4)? Haven't heard a peep from them in a while now. Yeah, this is my contrived way of saying you both forgot about Spellbound. BAH!

Oh yeah, I got my 5870, finally. But that's not the reason I'm posting today: http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/18/nvidia-...tails-revealed/ Nvidia has released more details about the Fermi. It's going to be a monster.

It's basically Boiling Point in space. Google-translated review here (8/10): http://tinyurl.com/y8sawkp Russian isn't easily translated as they use a lot of multi-word expressions in their language, but you'll get the gist of it.

A year ago (approximately) I was looking forward to a trio of games that I thought looked promising and way below the common radar: White Gold, The Precursors and Dead Island. Well, White Gold was released in Russia and it turned out to be an unplayable mess and has no chance of ever getting an English release (it seems). Dead Island has had that "Under construction" sign on the official webpage for over a year now and not a single sign of life (except some July 2009 interview with Techland who assures us the game is still in development). But The Precursors was recently released in Russia and it doesn't seem half bad! There have been popping up some gameplay videos on Youtube: Precursors gameplay part 1: Precursors gameplay part 2: It's looking good! If only I understood what they said.. Anyhow, my interest in the game is renewed!

I played some more Borderlands last night. Found that Tannis woman (who wasn't exactly spectacular to see) and killed this dude called Krom. I kind of like these little.. bonuses you get from time to time. Like, when you fire enough bullets you get an experience bonus. Not that I have any clue how to reach 100,000 bullets (which gives you 20,000 xp). I've done nothing but shoot my guns and I'm still under 10,000 bullets fired.. Oh, and I went online in Dirt 2. I thought I'd have a chance, but.. not even close. Apparently there's levels online and the guys I was going up against were level 48 and 63. I was level 1.

I was trying out Crysis to see what my new Radeon 5870 could do with it and happened upon a guard post. Since I was up on a mountain and had a sniper rifle (but only with an assault scope), I decided to shoot the bastard with the machine gun. So I started shooting but it seemed like I missed all the time because the guy kept getting back up. After a while he finally died. When I got down from the mountain, I was greeted by this picture. Oops! I'm running Crysis with everything on Very High, 2x antialiasing and a 1920x1080 resolution and I get approximately 40-60 fps. Kind of impressive from a single GPU setup.

I've played some more Borderlands now (in between my Dirt 2 sessions). I realize that this game will have close to zero replayability, with all the quests only having one solution and noone having any dialogue trees.. but I can still see myself replaying it just to get that perfect gun. Since I am a Mordecai, specialized in revolvers, I would assume that would mean a revolver with a scope, ridiculous damage and a huge magazine. I found a revolver with a great scope, gigantic damage but a two shot magazine.. Two out of three though! Getting there! I'm on a mission to find that Tannis woman now. Will be fun to see what she looks like.

We got run over by Ovechkin. Ovechtrain. WHATEVER.

Been playing more Dirt 2 lately.. which is weird as that's a game I got for free with my video card. I should be playing Borderlands (which I do, too, just not as much) since that's a game I chose to pay for. Once you get used to the floaty cars, it's actually a lot of fun. Underneath the ridiculous interface dwells a pretty competent rally 'sim'. I just wish there was an option to remove all the screaming Yanks from the game. Oh, and it looks pretty amazing in 1920x1080 with everything on max. Best looking racing game I've ever played.

Wasteland uses 16 colours.. It still rocks.

I just joined the open beta of Star Trek Online and am downloading the client now I know NOTHING about Star Trek, except that the "trekkies" are hilariously geeky.

I'm still playing Borderlands. Putting all those skill points into my bird has finally paid off! It can now attack up to six enemies in one fly-by, and I also found some sort of crystal that I force-fed it so now my bird looks like a small explosion zooming around in the sky (it deals explosion damage). Oh, and I love this Tanner woman. It's great fun to find her nutty diary entries and listen to them while blasting away at skags and antlions. She's hilarious.

I don't get it. Why are the NHL so protective of their referees? I mean, I can understand that they don't want them to become free-for-all to the players, but this..? As an outsider looking in, it sure as hell looks like Burrows wasn't lying. Especially when you watch the end of that game. The bad referees of the NHL wouldn't bother me one bit if it weren't for the fact that USA and Canada always demands to have NHL referees in the Olympics! Yes, they are demanding to have North American referees in their own games! They say it's because of insurance reasons.. I hate it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkG0fyvAeA0 Ok, THIS will be interesting! I actually believe him. I saw the end of that game and the last two penalties were really weird. Weird enough for me to remember them. Let's hope the NHL follows up on this.

FO:NV: The Return of Gameplay Mechanics Discussion
mkreku replied to Pidesco's topic in Computer and Console
I don't understand how even the most ignorant fan of the old Fallouts (or even Wasteland!) could argue about bad weapon balancing in Fallout 3. Sure, compared to a normal shooter, the balance is off (some pistols worse than the one you got coming out of the Vault etc.), but compared to the old games, it's a masterpiece. Don't you all remember the huge leap in Wasteland/Fallout/Fallout 2 when you got your first automatic weapon? The games basically become a breeze after that. Also, I am no proponent of strict weapon balancing on a universal scale. Every JRPG I've ever played has had that: you go from village to village and buy new equipment, one point stronger than the equipment you bought in your last village. Since Fallout is an open-ended world, I WANT to be able to throw balance out of order! If I manage to kill something way too big for my level, I expect the reward (weapons) to match my accomplishment. Otherwise we have a new Oblivion situation where every 100-gold-demanding robber is wearing Daedric armour (worth hundreds of thousands of gold) after a while. -
Ok, so I tried overclocking it a little. I'm now stable at 3.0 GHz and it's idling at 48-50 degrees Celsius with the original Intel cooler. I don't think I'll go any higher before I buy a new cooler. I'm thinking about the Prolimatech Megahalems, but I haven't decided yet. It's reviewed great and it's supposed to be a breeze to install, but it's a bit costly and doesn't come with any pre-mounted fans. If you want fans you have to buy and install them yourself, which is added cost and hassle. We'll see.

I got a Dirt 2 coupon bundled with my Radeon 5870 so I downloaded that from Steam. It's supposed to be using Direct X 11 but I have no idea what that means because it looks just like any other Americanized rally game to me. The cars feel very floaty (as if there's a big balloon stuck underneath them, lifting the cars, keeping the tires from getting any grip) and the constant barrage of one liners such as "That was gnarly, dude!!" are annoying, but otherwise it is a fine game. It suffers from being made with the Halo generation in mind though. As soon as you push a button, you'll get three rewards. Minimum. They shower you with rewards, constantly. "Awesome, man, you've been playing for thirty seconds, have this awesome livery and this awesome windshield toy! Awesome!". I kind of miss the old Colin McRae Rally games.

I'm finally playing Borderlands. It rocks so far. I didn't think I'd like the graphical style in this game (judging from the screenshots) but I must say they work well within the game. I made a Mordecai character and so far I've been putting all my skill points into a.. bird. I can use it once every sixty seconds and it flies off and gets stuck in the ceiling (if indoors) or causes the same damage as one headshot with my sniper rifle does. I have no idea why it's even in the game. I'm hoping it'll be powerful later though.. Level 14 after my first playing session and it's a lot of fun. I think I'm supposed to be getting some kind of key right now, but I'm not too bothered. It's more fun to just drive around and run things over with my buggy.

Time to leak a more recent one then.

I finally got my 5870 so.. as of 2010-01-11: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (not happy with it!) Intel Core i7 920 (not clocked.. yet) 6 GB 1600 MHz Corsair XMS3 Gigabyte X58A-UD7 motherboard (with USB3/SATA3 support!) Sapphire Radeon HD5870 1GB GDDR5 I also (finally) upgraded my fat Samsung monitor from 2003 to a brand new Asus 24 inch flattie, sporting a 1920x1080 resolution.

Which one did you get?
