Western spies forced to pullout : Snowden to blame
Well that is a huge relief ...but it doens't make sense that the government would want to him to print such a unbelievable story knowing it would be questioned ? What would be the purpose? I should have scrutinized the facts more closely because looking back it does seem unlikely Because it muddies the water. Because many people may see the first report but not the reveal that it's bollocks. The Daily Mail here often publishes 'apologies' for headlines it has done that were utter lies yet most people don't see them, so while the truth 'gets out' not everyone will hear it. Yeah, people are so harried by real life that they only have time to remember headlines. Retractions either don't happen or are nested amongst some back page fluff so most readers only remember that a pasty, bespectacled traitor has endangered their safety.

Fallout 4 is coming!
There must be skills if a science rank is required for crafting an object. But it does seem like spending actual skill points isn't a thing any more...not too happy about that but I'll wait to hear more about the perk tree before I start worrying too much. The biggest question for me is how the new system will affect skill checks

What are you playing now?
I snapped up Homeworld Remastered in the Steam sale but quickly realised I'd never actually play it again. The camera movement is stuttery and sometimes commands halt the game for a moment. I found myself groaning at everything...I used to love this game but now I don't have the time or patience for convoluted interfaces so it has the honour of being my first Steam refund There's a fix for the stuttery radio on Fallout 3 but it involves disabling codecs. I'm hoping a mod called Tale of Two Wastelands reaches maturity, seems like it might be the only way to play Fallout 3 without all the technical issues. But seriously, the fallout series have made me fall in love with so much weird music (for my non gamer friends). I even bonded with an old lady I visited as I recognized the Ink Spots, made her so happy that my generation knew those songs haha. I'd always been a bit partial to old music but the Fallout games cemented it. I recommend the mods 'More Where That Came From' for Fallout 3 and "Secret Stash" for New Vegas, the author obsessively tracked down songs titles that were referenced in the games

Fallout 4 is coming!
Off-topic note: If you want to lower motion sickness effect you could try disabling USWC (Uncached Speculative Write Combining) for your graphic card (if you are under Windows). An easy way to do this is running Wagnard's DisableUSWC utility. Run it, add key, reboot, test. If you don't like the results, run it again, remove key, and reboot. Forgive my ignorance but what the freaking heck is Uncached Speculative Write Combining and how does disabling it help with motion sickness?

Shadow Warrior was pretty good but I couldn't do the slog, some of those stages went on way too long. I watched the end of a let's play to see how the story turned out, really nice for a bat**** crazy shooter.

What are you playing now?
Fallout 3 was most stable for me on release, before patches/DLC and running on Win XP.

What are you playing now?
I forgot how often a Bethesda game can crash. Really, New Vegas with 50 mods runs a lot more stable for me than Fallout 3 without any mods. This thing is crashing like a madman. Yep it's a crash nightmare, Bethesda's other games are paragons of stability by comparison. I can't see myself playing it again unless modders can do something about it. New Vegas Anti Crash will help to prevent some but it doesn't fully support Fallout 3.

What are you playing now?
Yeah I ditched MMM years ago for the same reason. I mostly miss the swarms of night ghouls I loved them, a nightmarish mega-dungeon that could take you anywhere.

Chris Avellone leaves Obsidian
Pretty massive news for the company. I suppose he wasn't getting to do much writing or hands on production these days...maybe that's the reason?

What are you playing now?
Oh they're definitely using the same engine but they fixed most of the crashes for Skyrim. Some people find that using Fallout Stutter Remover eases crashes but I suspect this only applies to older PCs, I'd recommend it though, if only for how much smoother the game feels. New Vegas Anti Crash actually does work for Fallout 3 but it only saved me from a couple of crashes.

What are you playing now?
It has this many issues no matter what version of Windows you run, the blue border is a new one on me though.

What are you playing now?
I just started that very thing. The FO4 trailer inspired me to play them all again. I just started a new FO1 game for the first time in 6-7 years last night! I did Fallout 3 recently but oh god the crashes...dunno if I can go back to that game unless the maker of New Vegas Anti Crash decides to give it full support. Looking forward to another blast on New Vegas one day though, I'm currently playing Oblivion, Far Cry 3 and possibly the Bioshock Infinite DLC.

Fallout 4 is coming!
I completely expected a 2016 release but 2015 is kinda looking possible. I'm glad they're sticking with their janky old engine, it'll run well, look good enough and most of the modding techniques from previous games will still be applicable. Besides, if they go with something less open it'll take modders absolutely ages to fix all the bugs
