Fallout 4 is coming soon.. is there a new OB Fallout Scheduled?
WDeranged replied to dava4444's topic in Computer and Console
But the dialogue system is awful. Its no fun to talk to people. Huge step backwards compared to 3 and NV. I'd hoped the new system wouldn't be restrictive...it didn't have to be. Has anyone encountered a "skill" check in dialogue or indeed anywhere else? -

I can use full screen but the frame rate pacing is awful, a stutterfest. -

I'm glad it's running well for some people, gives me hope. I had my Fallout 4 launch evening pretty well planned, I was going to get wasted and play the game until the sun came up and my eyeballs bled just like I did with Skyrim -

specs? Keep in mind it runs best on Nvidia cards + godrays destroy performance even on uber rigs. Settings don't seem to greatly affect the issue, I'm using the latest driver and I've tried all the usual tweaks. Using the borderless window mode helps considerably but I'm still getting really bad stuttering when I sprint. 980, i7 4780k, 12gb ram, 500gb ssa, Win 7 x64. We really got screwed with the PC interface this time, you can't even adjust brightness. -

I've spent a few hours playing and I'll keep it short. Some things suck, some things rock, but the biggest obstacle to my enjoyment is the freaking woeful optimisation. Every kind of stuttering you can think of is happening, pretty huge FPS drops for not very good reasons...the whole modern PC release package -
Fallout 4 is unlocked and ready to play. I was about to get stuck in when I realised I didn't have a cup of tea on my desk...PANIC! Sign up to WTFast and select an Aussie server

Reviews are hitting the web, looks like the usual Bethesda blend of ridiculous bugs and addictiveness. Nice to see the bugs are costing them review points this time around. -

One hour left until unlock...in Melbourne, hooray for VPNs -
I noticed the WL2 font, making it slightly darker would help but I did miss the old printer style.

Blitzed Hoover Dam for House and was surprised to realise I'd never done it before. I'd also never properly listened to the NCR radio during the final battle, it was cool hearing the catastrophic consequences of me skipping all their quests

Before bed I noticed the game had started pre-loading and for some reason I dozily clicked on the hub page. I should have known that there'd be HUGE SPOILERS IN BLOCK CAPS but so it goes...it probably won't affect my enjoyment very much, it's just the fact that it one way or another it always freaking happens -
I didn't do it

Looks like the brotherhood have taken up smoking Wow, wow, wait. Tiny landmass largely in the style of the main game? This is so far away from the truth, it actually hurts. Honest Hearts features a complete new graphic set, and IMO in many places it looks a lot better than the nature in the Mojave. For me it is always a huge difference when I spend a long time in Zion and then go back to the Mojave. Also I find it hard to believe anyone else would see the obvious difference... different. You can critizise the DLC in quite a few points, but IMO the landscape is not belonging into the list. I think Honest Hearts might be my favourite DLC. It doesn't do anything outstandingly brilliant but it's generally well done. Interesting plot, Joshua Graham, very pretty location, Joshua Graham, survivalist's journals, JOSHUA ****ING GRAHAM!

The first time I did Dead Money was a real slog, I think I hated that DLC. Weirdly though I got nostalgic about it pretty soon afterwards, I still think it's a ****ing hellhole but I suppose that was exactly the intent.
-
I remember people saying that NVSE's heap enlargement option cured their infinite loading screens, also installing Stutter Remover and NVAC should keep the crashes down.
-
I've decided to skip the DLC for this playthrough, I won't have the time before Fallout 4 and also last time I tried to do them all I ended up burning out on the game, it's nice just playing through the original game with the restored content. On the subject of crashes, I find New Vegas to be reasonably stable at least compared to Fallout 3, also now we have NVAC which genuinely prevents most crashes.

Last week I dusted off my New Vegas box set and ran my fingers over the precious things before installing the game. I was partially inspired by the wait for Fallout 4 but also because I found a mod (Uncut Wasteland) that perfectly restores all the stuff they patched out to make room for the DLC. It's really cool to play the game as it was when I first got it, way more random battles between factions, more NPCs with unique dialogue, the booby trapped soldiers, water jets at Hoover Dam...tons of stuff. Otherwise the best change I've made is to use a mod which makes getting into The Strip more of a challenge, now I have to spend way more time in the city outskirts before I can get at Benny. Also I can shoot the **** out of radios and they freaking explode now Lonesome Road was my least favourite DLC as far as story, I didn't like the history it forces upon your character and I also found Ulysses a bit incoherent, can't even remember what his beef was I loved the environment at least, might go back there soon...

Looks cool enough but what I really hope is that they got the original masters for the vocals
-
That's a nice little PR touch.
-
A patch that fixes the camera just got released.
-
Yeah not digging the camera, also having shadows enabled causes a tiny amount of stuttering on my PC. I'm pretty impressed with the graphical update though, now it looks as good as I hoped it would originally.
