  1. Stuttering drives me round the twist and it's almost always the first thing I need to fix when I get a new game. This is taking the piss a bit though, there's only one solution (and oh I've tried many) that gives me a smooth experience (iFPSClamp=60) but it also happens to break several game events so I'm stuck until Bethesda fix the damn thing. The really frustrating thing is that I appear to be the sole sufferer of this particular kind of stutter...or no one else has noticed it yet Umm, I think you can rebind a few extra keys now.
  2. Beta patch is out and doesn't fix a single one of my stuttering issues. It's not that the game is unplayable but it's just horribly uncomfortable, whenever I sprint there's this weird bumpy vertical juddering motion that sometimes builds up into a ridiculous shuddering. Weirdly enough using noclip mode makes the issue go away so I tend to think it's a physics or animation glitch rather than framerate pacing. Either way I'm still pretty damn disappointed
  3. Mehh, I don't think it matters a great deal but Josh Sawyer would have done mental backflips trying to reconcile that
  4. I forget whether it was Todd Howard or Pete Hines but they said it'd make sense to work with Obsidian on another spin off. Not exactly a guarantee I know but at least there is hope.
  5. Not a PC port, the game has been simultaneously developed for PC and consoles. Either way, it runs very well and they didn't skimp on the options.
  6. Met the witches of the bog and couldn't help but grin, I love characters like this, they remind me of old anime horrors from my childhood
  7. You could get the archive extractor and have a look for the files but I dunno what format they'll be in.
  8. I imagine it's pretty viable but I'm thinking you're gonna need some companion packmules if you're going to do any serious crafting.
  9. I think the way you pick up quests is a bit slapdash. I took a monster contract from the board and it directed me to a dude who was standing about three feet away, he had a name and I'd tried to talk to him earlier but apparently he's mute until I pull a piece of paper from a piece of wood Another time I stumbled into a cabin and immediately triggered a quest halfway through, the game told me I'd done several previous steps and promptly told me where to go next...all I did was step through a door! To be fair, I'm really enjoying the game, for their first stab at open world they got so much right. Also the PC port is really well done
  10. It's a shame, when I got to Oxenfurt I was treated to an impressive view and I thought I'd finally get a good amount of quests in one location. I'm guessing Novigrad is where it's at but I'm no where near ready to go there yet.
  11. I dunno, I understand the "modders will fix it" criticism but I played Skyrim on release for a few hundred hours and didn't need any mods. In fact I've had a pretty smooth experience with all their previous games, though no doubt luck was involved. I feel that Fallout 4 genuinely needs mods for me to enjoy it properly.
  12. This is true but at least Bioware made the flavour of your choices pretty clear, Fallout 4 feels like russian roulette
  13. I wondered if someone would be able to hook up the subtitles to the dialogue system but I worried that Bethesda might have made it impossible. Sounds like it was a really simple fix for people with the know-how. Super glad
  14. I'm about 20 hours in and having a pretty good time. The only thing that confuses me is the lack of quests in new areas, for example I went to Oxenfurt looking for a missing person (who I found) and didn't see a single quest mark on the map. Sure there's a couple of missions on the notice board but this is a freaking city! Are notice boards where I'm going to be finding most of my quests?
  15. Someone made a mod which lets you see exactly what you're going to say...Hallelujah! I've been playing The Witcher 3 while Bethesda get around to making their game work on my PC but when I get back to Fallout 4 this mod will fix a huge annoyance I had
  16. If I hadn't been waiting four years for this game I'd have hung on for patches and drivers, best wait I'd say. As it stands I've been spoilered, stuttered and glitched to the point where I think I might uninstall it and play something else for a while. It'll be a great game once it's fixed but whatever magical feelings I had about it are almost gone.
  17. The spoilers I saw don't discount some of those as being possible but I haven't really gotten far enough to know. All I'll say is that when I first saw the intro in that E3 preview I pretty much guessed what "the twist" might be. It's not even a clever twist, I'm just frustrated that I didn't get to discover it myself...sometimes I hate the internet.
  18. I got spoilered again I was just searching for an .ini tweak and near the top was an RPG Codex (of course) thread with "the twist" in block caps as the title...bahhhh!
  19. There are some spectacular views to be had but yeah, from some angles it looks freaking awful. Nope, staring contests are back I'm guessing those initial (utterly forgettable) characters are just fluff to fill your first settlement. You'll start meeting more interesting ones once you go deeper into the world.
  20. I played for three or four hours last night while spaced out on painkillers (dental work) and a double vodka (irresponsibility), I made it to Diamond City and was really impressed (again) by the world density. Just the mad dash through (Lexington?) city ruins to get there was an exciting experience, I must have had twenty ghouls and a similar amount of raiders chasing me as I ran past a freaking ton of marked locations. I finally met a few characters that I liked and started to pick up threads of the main plot, even though I've had one huge spoiler I don't know the context so there's plenty of mystery to be found. Oh, I increased brightness of the pipboy worldmap texture as I found the vanilla one to be uselessly dark, people can grab it here.
  21. As far as I know you can adjust the weapon perspective scale with console commands.
  22. Fallout 4 from The Flattering Angles
  23. I just encountered an uber-bloatfly, it took about 15 shots with an Institute Rifle...
  24. I found a solution to my stutters and finally had a chance to plough some real time into the game. I had an enjoyable five hour blast, the world design is great even though I do wonder what kind of post apocalyptic obsessive compulsive went around boarding up all the doors The sheer density of clutter and hidden things borders on bewilderment, it's a feeling I haven't had in a long time. They've definitely taken a step back from Skyrim's rat run dungeons, multiple routes are back with a vengeance. The lack of load doors on many buildings is a breath of fresh air, there are basically a ton of mini-dungeons woven into the environment. My only real world design issue is the unfinished look to wilderness areas, half the time it looks exactly like Skyrim but without the variety, it's really distracting. Gunplay is much improved, they say ID Software helped them and I have no reason to doubt that, it's very meaty. Enemies are more unpredictable and slightly smarter, I like the way ghouls and mirelurks suddenly start sprinting at you when they get close. Writing seems good enough but it does lack charm, I don't give a single **** about anyone I've met so far. Which leads me to the conversation system...it sucks, I barely know what I'm about to say and it forces the conversation down stilted paths. Bioware does this sort of thing better, they should have stuck with the old system, also the loss of speech checks is unforgivable. In general the interface is clumsy, I constantly feel like I need to take my hand off the mouse to get anything done in a speedy manner, if they can't fix it they should allow us to freely switch between pad and mouse controls. especially in build mode. So yeah, for me it's a mix of sucky and great
  25. I've found a few named weapons, dunno how 'unique' they are yet though.
