  1. I dunno, 27 years for planning to do something seems plenty to me.
  2. I like birches, birches rock. Betula pendula et stella and all that.
  3. I think I got you beat on the stream of consciousness department, I can barely make sense of what I wrote, myself. OK day at work, splitting headache for most of it, crazies on the other side in one case etc. Boss is worried about how I'm getting along here in the boondocks, but for the moment I have no issues, as people are happy to drop by and visit me frequently and I don't mind spending the weekday evenings alone. Pretty sure I won't be able to stay here for good, though, but if it's long enough to get back into the sort of shape I actually should be in and forget the nastiness of some serious office politics, I'd still be happy.
  4. Meanwhile, I never even went to the Wednesday evening "erotic show" at bar Crazy Kaiffari during my time in the military. (I've always thought that if I feel the urge to go to a strip joint or similar, I'd rather go to, say, Spearmint Rhino in Vegas than to the local joint across the street where the recruitment ad says that the ability to dance is not necessary...)
  5. Try living in a Nordic country and being allergic to birch pollen. Mays are hell.
  6. Sounds to me as if a) You already lean towards taking it b) You need to establish what keeping the new hours and commitments will do to your existing commitments c) I'd prefer to work for you than one of the hard working simpletons Nepenthe describes d) It might help if I give you this imaginary hat. The basic hat is a Napoleonic war shako, but I've glued sparkles to it, and a model of you stamping on people - made of scrunched up tinfoil - above the legend "Eat My Firesome <sic> Leadership". Best leaders are often those who didn't particularly want the job, but are more or less naturally thrust into it.
  7. I wasn't asking for an explanation, just trying to cheer you up.
  8. I think you really made your decision for yourself in the final paragraph, sometimes you have to take one for the team and in my experience, assuming direct control (yes, I know) is sometimes the price you have to pay for not having to put up with an idiot boss. That said, there are also challenges related to moving to a management position "from the ranks". Unfortunately professional organizations tend to (s)elect bosses based on performance in their actual work, meaning that you tend to get workaholics with limited people skills/a focus on upwards mobility where they don't care on who they trample in management positions. Kind of like working in a smaller firm for a change.
  9. Well, at least it sounds like a PMC from Deus Ex:HR... Belltower, Dynacore, Cyride, yep! Back at work after a long weekend. 4 days is just long enough to get used to not having to work for a living.
  10. I had some really odd dreams last night, including a (fairly chaste) one about a gothy nurse.
  11. I'm trying to point out the difference between playful flirty banter and being used.
  12. Who won is YMMV, but: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War
  13. I'm not dating the woman! Nor do I plan to! Like I said, it's really about seeing someone in trouble and enjoying helping them. You never made a pretty girl smile just for the hell of it? Sure. More often made them put on the "deer in the headlights" look, but sometimes smile, too.
  14. I have to admit, I don't own any recent Ubisoft games and haven't been really aware of anything else than their yearly Assassin's Creeds and drm stumbles.
  15. "Show us on the doll where you want to shoot your ex"?
  16. Gear (shells), of course the best-looking ones in the game, and some unlocks that can be "sped-up" with cartel coins, instead of spending credits or something on them. A lot of the cartel gear is available in random packs with varying rarities, so that guy gunning for the revan mask can spend a lot of dough
  17. Like the gifted one mentioned earlier, that does awfully sound like BS. Addiction is tragic in of itself, but it does sound like the typical stuff a junkie will make up to excuse him or herself. It also sounds like we have an exceptional case of a girl digging the bad boys and using you as the so-called emotional tampon. I won't tell you to "man up" or any other bs like that, for some girls even that can be worth it. I know 2. I had a hearing at the appeal's court yesterday, the thing's a ****ing mess with all sorts of odd facebook confessions.
  18. Wolfenstein New Order? Is that Space Nazis? How many independent studios capable of AAA games are there left, anyway? Obsidian, Double Fine, maybe Bungie, which is still partially Microsoft owned, right? It was already destroyed when Lucas started randomly canonizing parts of the game, which then tied Bio's hands. The Revan book explains exactly why that is, and the importance of it. It tells the Exile's story about as much as it does Revan. Drew (naturally) wrote that part of TOR. Let me rephrase: My problem is with the Exile floating next to Revan, talking in the style of a stereotypical, lame ghost out of a children's story. "Beware ~oohoooohhhhh!" Or like all important, dead Jedi in the Star Wars universe? Ever seen the movies?
  19. Was there really even an alternative at the present industry condition? Activision?
  20. I think that border was crossed a long time ago. Happily, my childhood remains uspoiled by them ;P
  21. Uh, two girls, you can just play yourself out of the second one by becoming too close with the first one, if you catch my drift.
  22. That's what I'd call trying to see the positive in things.
  23. That's a good case here in the boondocks.
  24. I think you got your order right there. I enjoyed DXHR and la noire quite a bit, but la noire is more like a flawed gem than anything. + I had food poisoning at the time. Thanks guys, might I enquire as to what put Darksiders on the bottom of the list? I don't have it, so obviously the other two have to be better. Meanwhile, was playing alpha protocol. Good Lord that game is ugly, I've never noticed it before. The checkpoint system also gets really grating after a while. Last time I played it I had some repeatable crash issues, but they were gone this time. Guess Sony's fixed something on their end of things... Still, my fave obsid game and definitely time for the yearly playthrough.
