Dragon Age III / The Witcher 3 trailers. Impressions?
Nepenthe replied to Rahelron's topic in Computer and Console
Yeah, it would be up to current Bioware standards for "we will explore Hawke's story" (or whatever it was they promised when they canceled the expansion) to actually mean that he shows up in a body bag in a trailer. I'm more of a Viconia kind of guy when it comes to evil bitches, but the point was that anything that is over 9 months away is always subject to potential huge changes, on both sides of the screen. -
So, they confirmed that the Deus Ex: Human Revolution director's cut is coming to PS3/x360/pc/mac "later this year". They showed the new version of the Barrett boss fight, which was really neat - it took what was originally in the game and made it a lot more versatile in a way that both fit the area and looked beautifully simple to me. The whole thing sounded more like a standalone release than dlc, so we'll see. The Fall also looked like an exceptional ipad game, very similar to DXHR.

Dragon Age III / The Witcher 3 trailers. Impressions?

I actually agree with you re Morrigan, never found the character particularly exciting. Of course, at this stage there are few elements in DAO that do excite me, so... So you're going to buy only three copies? If you read what I wrote, I'm talking of Origins, so any buying of that is in the past. If you thought I was referring to DA3, the game's over a year away. I could be knee deep in diapers by then for all I know. -

I've only watched a tiny version of it without audio at work, but it didn't look like anyone else realised that, either. I'll give you the impact of choices, but I CBA to play it a second time so I didn't really get to reap the rewards of that. I'm probably going to play it again soonish, but I've forgotten enough of it that it wouldn't really matter... Any game that tries to make C&C it's main selling point HAS to be very replayable and memorable for it to matter at all... I've only played twitcher 2 so the politics and finesses were mostly lost to me and the characters... yeah, refer to what I said earlier. -
Fear of women body in modern videogames
Nepenthe replied to obyknven's topic in Computer and Console
The point he is making is that they got to "share" through no effort of their own. Mmh, there's a big thing going on where women are supposed to have a certain quota on the boards of listed companies. Note, just listed companies - the one's that have been so successful that they've been listen on the stock exchange. Not all companies, just the really successful ones. After all, who'd care about risk? It's the cherry picking that gets under my skin. (later reply, I know) -

Mmh, ditto. Lots of witcher fanboys seem of the type who think that boobs and grimdark make the games all mature... when it's kind of the opposite. It's still teen, just 17 instead of 13. -
I think it's impolite to discuss Gorth's potence issues in public.
-
I'm not worried about that. They're obviously seeing the possibility of making a PS1 style invasion of the market, becoming the dominant force in this cycle (mass effect reference semi-accidental) by going for the xbone's jugular straight out of the gate.
-
Well, online is behind a paywall now. But that didn't seem to do much damage to the 360 last gen. I think it's a change for the better, I probably have less than 30 hours of online time in the whole console gen (on both platforms, combined), I'd rather be straight up fleeced than pay indirectly for something I don't use. :D
-
Yeah, no way was I going to get an xbone with all the kinect bs, but PS4 looks like a fairly good idea.

It's ok, I really like Remedy's games because they are Finnish, too. -

Not sure I follow your train of thought re: DA3 engine. They've switched to the newest version of Frostbite, which I don't think we've seen in action at all. Including mostly in this trailer, I agree, but still. They've also given a pretty good explanation for the DA2 recycling, but I see no reason in going over that thing yet again. I'm expecting something very different this time (again), which is kind of a shame since I really enjoyed DA2 in spite of its flaws. -

Soo, Varric, Cassandra and Morrigan. Dragon could also be an Archdemon? Happily Bio's games are better than their trailers. Can't comment about the twitcher one, since they want to give my info to NSA to view it. I'll be getting both, though. -
Frankly not sure, but one obscure website says sunset around 11pm and sunrise around 3:30AM. It doesn't really get that "dark" inbetween, either. I was at a rave really up north about two years ago. We were in a dark industrial hall type thing so I had no idea what it was like outside... then when I left around 4am it looked like noon :D. The most surreal thing I've experienced.
-
Well, that's probably why they want to stick the camera in your living room... and then send all of it to NSA: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/prism-collection-documents/

Or, in the winter, you wake up at 10am and think it's 10pm, because it's pitch black outside (cloudy).

You're really close to selling me on gay tony

Yeah it's crazy, I chipped one of my teeth a few years back, half of it broke off and just to build it in plastic was like 220€. It took 2 people about 15 minutes.. That's a pretty good hour salary. *Stares at Nepenthe like a crazy man* Yeah, well, sometimes you're paying for a lot more than that time. For lawyers more than dentists (certainly the ones I know who have a non-stop client stream the whole day) the big problem is getting the billable hours. Less so in Big Law where you can rack up hours on individual cases, but for example today, I was told that I should have prepped a case for the court of appeal in three hours, including three written statements that they asked beforehand. When I get paid for 1/3 of the hours I spend at work, the hourly rate has to go up or it's just not viable... Dentists and doctors are a lot eorse than lawyers, btw.

I don't get this, isn't it actually better this way?Watched the video, it has a fairly high absurd quota and Anfossi especially seems to be just phoning it in. Still, better this than a rushed sequel to dxhr, I guess. In hindsight, itwouldn't make sense for them to have thief and deus ex come out in close proximity, just like dragon age and mass effect were better for he studio with a more even spread. iPad is a platform I will deffinitly never play the game. So if that builds on the novel and I end up liking the novel I'll always feel that I am missing something Oh, right. It's one of the best, if not THE best game/movie tie-in novels I've read. The author has obviously done his homework, it features a bunch of original dx characters. That said, while I love my ipad, it's a disappointing gaming platform for sure.

I was going to make a pithy remark about the age of consent in Mexico, but it turned out to be 12, so I reconsidered.

Generally not seen as a viable platform by major publishers due to massive piracy. I couldn't decide between "roflmao" and "facepalm", but "I never asked for this" probably takes the cake... That said, I'm writing this on a work trip in a high-speed train on my iPad and I've read the novel, so day 1 for me. Still very disappointed...

Re: Deus Ex - The Fall. Considering that it's e3 next week, I think it's more likely that it will be a new game announced today and to be demoed there.
