  1. ... Implants. Good ones done by a proficient surgeon.
  2. As an aside, I feel really odd walking around with a patrol sized pack and not having a full size rifle in the front to help balance it out.
  3. Well, we all knew Ros is pretty fly for a white guy.
  4. I've never actually thought about that before, good point. How do these extremists position the afterlife when they convince females to be martyrs? I'm no expert in this area but two theories I know of are: - An ironic urge to be taken seriously and have some freedom. Being a terrorist is the only way to get either in the restrictive worlds the backwoods guys come from - Being the widow of a terrorist. Which means you are frequently on the run anyway, and in need of revenge, and in need of some status to deter 'entitled' holy warriors. The two somewhat inter-relate. Anyone know any other theories? Fanatical belief. IIRC your guys were under unofficial orders to shoot the girls first when dealing with PIRA, because they'd never surrender. Any woman who picks up terror just going from belief is going to be... extreme And, yeah, the obvious, that Wals already skirted, revenge in general.
  5. Been a while, but could the barrel have been flipped? I think you should be able to tell that with the laser, but used to be some of the odd stuff they did at depots.
  6. I think SR lends itself to those themes because of its zany tone but GTA is more serious even though it sometimes becomes a satire of crime fiction. Although I would actually be more interested in the idea of a male character that had been transformed into a woman against his will, its a trope that I haven't seen much in gaming. It has the potential to deal with the themes of gender identity better than what a post op trans character would, IMO. Although a game with that main character would probably never get the greenlight from the publishers. Baldur's gate! Any game with girdle of femininity/masculinity! Edwin in bg2! Done to death!
  7. Monte I'm not sure why you seem to be getting so upset? The reviewer still gave the game 9/10 and its the Editors Choice for September. She is not saying "don't play the game". All she is saying GTA V presents women in one dimensional light and she is probably right I do think the word misogyny is a bit harsh, I would say the game is sexist on certain levels. But not enough where I won't play it. Can we call she an it? I feel that it is somewhere between a man and a woman, which is probably why it felt the need to give its biased opinion (all opinions are biased, btw) instead of just reporting. I get that we need archaeologists to recover the lost manual on how to be a good journalist, but gaming journalism feels more like blogs that comment on games. Also, feminist are approaching the issue of women in gaming entirely wrong. If their stance was that they want more games geared towards a female audience instead of wanting to turn boy's games into women's, they'd probably face less animosity. The core idea of feminism has always been to turn boys' games into girls', they've just gotten a hell of a lot more concrete about it.

But not enough where I won't play it. That just makes it even more hypocritical. I'm not with you, what is hypocritical ? Trendily complaining about misogyny in games and then, in one's grade, giving it the real value, ie. zero. I knew I left that a bit too vague...
  9. If they didn't breed like rabbits in an area with no arable land or resources... r-selection: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R/K_selection_theory Edit: And here's one of the cultural applications: http://cfpm.org/jom-emit/1997/vol1/fog_a.html Case in point, lack of arable land, resources and security feeds the phenomenon when a large number of children is the less risky way of making sure your young continue to spread your genes.
  10. Went to ebay. Blew $ 260 I don't really have on a navy working uniform type iii parka. In my defence, I've been looking for one for ages, and one of my favourite surplus stores had one in my size and excellent condition. I assume the xl-long size is rare because many guys in the relevant branches are my size.
  11. Seed for radicalism lies in idle young men with no prospects.
  12. Make it easier to find the culprits, then?

  14. I accept that I have a rather... restrictive view of tort law and the principle of unjust enrichment... so I'll just wish you good luck with that. I'm pretty good at what I do, and in the circumstances, a brand new wunderbaum is what I'd expect to get you.
  15. And then people wonder where all the frivolous lawsuits come from.
  16. We're going to find out about the Saints in the next 3 weeks. They play Miami (3-0) at the dome followed by road trips to Chicago and New England. Before you dismiss Miami, they did just beat Atlanta (in Miami). This is just a weird season. Right now it looks like Seattle is simply head and shoulders above everyone else. Nobody else is even close. Well, their schedule has been pretty friendly, too.
  17. And in that case, the howling isn't going to end anytime soon. Because, damn, those were his ****ing balls and some things just aren't easily forgotten. This is a good ****ing point. If dogs are a man's best friend, why do we cut their balls off? I don't want to be anyone's friend if my balls are getting cut off as part of the deal. With male humans, it's called marriage, not friendship.
  18. Of course, it's possible that a sufficiently good defense makes the opponent's offense seem incompetent, so it could be that too. But I still have this nagging feeling that it's been more luck than skill so far. Let's hope I'm wrong.
  19. Nep if your clients were hot, Russian strippers would you mind babysitting them then? Some of them are. Yes, I do mind.
  20. As a Saints fan, I should be happy that they're 3-0, but I can't help but feel that it's been more a case of the other teams losing than them winning so far. That undrafted running back Robinson seemed like he has real potential, but the Cardinals might not have been really trying at that point.
  21. Had to show up to work early due to an appointment, and my client was a no-show. Phone's also been disconnected since Friday. So now I'm looking at the prospect of losing a bunch of billed hours from last week and also having to attempt to find the guy. ****. Apart from the financial sting, I also skipped watching the dexter finale, so I'm double incensed. More seriously, though, been having motivational issues over the past few weeks and **** like this really gets under my skin. I mean, I'll happily help these people with their legal problems, but having to babysit them is a bit too much.
  22. At present, I doubt it, but historically, almost definitely. Obviously depends on the definition of terror and AFAIK Red terrorists still exist (especially in southern Europe), even if their actions rarely cross the news threshold. The age old dilemma, what's the difference between a ZOMG TERRORIST and a criminal, in the end. (I know, the objective of terrorism is to promote... terror, but yes).
  23. It may be part of the game. Eh, I'm talking about lockups. I kind of doubt the simulation meta reaches that far. Well, will have to finish (or more likely restart, as it's been close to a year) Dishonored and see how that runs.
  24. As an aside, either my ps3 is going, or this is the most unstable console game since new vegas.
