  1. Still catching up with the second season on blu-ray. Haven't enjoyed it quite as much as the first season, but I agree that it's still damn good...
  2. Just finished Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt. I thought the summonable bronto was nice (and Dog really should have been handled in this way, he's fun but useless), and the way party chatter was handled in Witch Hunt was very good (though probably not doable in a 40-75h game). Still, not much to write home about, even less as my char was 'just friends' with Morrigan. Overall, I'd have to say that Leliana's song was by far my favourite DLC - mostly because it felt so different. Next up: Arkham Asylum.
  3. Generally you are commenting on the post you're quoting, darling.
  4. So basically BW sold their souls and he refused to. A bit stretching it, aren't we? I was checking out the bio forums yesterday, and now understand what D. Gaider was replying to. I think the gist was that the original plan for DA2 was indeed to make it fantasy mass effect, but they've scaled back (squad control is still/again in)... I wish I had the time to find that specific thread, but am late from work as is. I'm actually looking quite a lot forward into seeing the demo in a couple of weeks, because I want to see what the new combat system is like (and I can compare it to both DAO ps3 and pc)... And, verily, the fanbois squealed and poureth forth their accusations of 'hater' when the unfaithful pointed out that the intention was 'Dragon Effect' all along. LOL. Wot? Is your need to personally attack me so great that can't be bothered to read what I'm saying? That they were originally going to totally bone the series over by creating a dragon effect, down to the control one character and swing sword with right trigger mechanic, but now SEEM to have slightly come to their senses and are enabling something close to what it should be? The reason 'I'm looking forward to seeing the demo' is not because I want to have a circle jerk with the 'fanboys' or 'haters', but because I, unlike a lot of people, actually personally decide what I like and don't. Now, I'm sure that I could write a long essay that would explain all my viewpoints in a way that everybody would understand, but since I already have to write for a living, I save the extra clarification for the part that gets me paid.

  6. To me it's pyramids, Halo and GTA IV, pretty much.
  7. You mean you don't have to pay for toilet paper yet?
  8. Arkham Asylum was 10e, so I picked it up.
  9. I wonder what the subculture is called where constantly bashing bio games (you bought) gets you cred? Codexism? I mean, apart from Borderlands, I haven't gone out of my way to **** in threads of games that I couldn't give a toss about. Is this a social faux pas?
  10. Well, caught up with Chuck (S04E03 - my God, Yvonne Strahovski IS stunning). Then made some Nachos Supreme and popped in the 2nd season Fringe blu-ray. Nice pair of X-files homages in the opening episode, but generally speaking nachos and non-stop autopsies don't seem to go well together. Guess still not jaded enough.
  11. And coked up pilots...
  12. For the record, I am both following Hurlshot's train of thought and agreeing with him.
  13. Tale already replied for me (thanks).
  14. I would say up untill around 1870 when hte Prussians trashed them, they were actually doing quite well. They were no pushover in WWI either. Wrestling most of the continental parts of the Angevin Empire from the English (who claimed it through the Plantagenet bloodline) and assimiliating Burgundy and Brittany (resistance is futile) were no small feats. I think the only reason people mock them a bit these days is because they lost out to numerically and materially inferior foe in WWII. Oh yeah, and then there was that thing with Nelson and sea engagements that didn't go down too well Or Indochina. Or Algeria.
  15. Huh? It does? Since when?
  16. Sigh. I generally do anything I can to not go to Gamestop, but the bastards have had exclusive stuff for Dragon Age (the CE was exclusive to them), Mass Effect 2 (The Blackstorm, still the best heavy weapon in the game and unreleased in another format, unlike the other preorder bonuses) and Alpha Protocol (the only place to have anything extra for it). So, yeah, when they give me more for the same money, I'll go with them, but even then I wish I'd have an alternative.
  17. The first is Riesen, though.
  18. They're taking DA2 on a tour of Europe, and it's a more advanced build from what they've showed before, right? I assume it's going to be the one that was at Eurogamer, at any rate. Coming to Finland in November, too.
  19. He wasn't really a Frenchman, he was from Corsica.
  20. That assumes that there is a 'free' alternative. If there were no free alternative, I'd say the vast majority of pirates would buy it at SOME price point, whether that would be 2c, $1 etc. is beside the point.
  21. Yes. Haven't noticed it yet? They must be doing it better over there...
  22. There is an incentive on the companies behalf to look at their losses as due to piracy rather than because their product is of low quality. The just see the peer numbers in some torrent sharing site and they automatically assume that they are all lost buyers. Which is completely reasonable, as those are people using their product, despite not paying for it. Yeah, but is it a lost sale? It's a lost sale at some price point.
  23. I wholeheartedly agree with this, and I've seen the change in myself.
  24. In fairness, the studios have been a lot more liberal with blu-ray region coding (or the lack of it) than with DVD. I have 100+ BD movies, and probably less than 5* of those are region locked (ok - I admit, some of the ~95 multiregion ones might just be A+B). You mostly see it with indie movies, where the distribution rights are actually geographically divided. Sure, some studios lock titles just for the hell of it, but the studios are apparently seeing the wisdom of giving hardcore hobbyists (which is what BD buyers essentially are) an option to get the product legally... *I can only think of three off the top of my head: Casino Royale, Boondock Saints and U-571.
