  1. Sigh. My mother bought an apartment and moved to it last week. She offered to give the apartment back to the landlord a week before the due date (next monday), if she'd have the week cut of from her rent. They refused, saying that they don't need access to the apartment. Now they're renovating it, electric wires ripped out of the walls etc. Now I'm mostly wondering if they are stupid and actually believe that they have the right to do it, or if they are stupid and have forgotten than I'm a lawyer. Probably just overwhelmingly arrogant, though.
  2. Yeah, but the criteria for being "ready" is rarely judged by the developer these days. Yeah, but if anyone's an exception to the rule, it's Blizzard. Of course, since they work for Kotick, we must not underestimate his willingness to kill golden geese.
  3. How is inflation in the UK? I don't understand how you can persistently hold interest rates at near zero levels and not cause a bubble several years later (this applies to Japan, America, and others too). They just did.
  4. I definitely have the same stutter over on the PS3 side, and come to think of it, both of my lockups have been outdoors as well. Kind of a shame, it runs pretty smooth otherwise. Hopefully fixable!
  5. I dunno, all the d-bags I know seem to be employed just fine.
  6. Yep! I'm broke, my cell phone is acting up, the broken tooth is aching and my advisor just dropped by to remind me that I'd promised to give a talk at a seminar today. Which I'd completely forgotten about. Oops.
  7. Possible studio work in the UK, though...
  8. Agreeing with you on this. The local map is also totally useless, but since it was a FO3 carryover, I wasn't expecting better. Some quests just seem to highlight this limitation a bit too much. For some reason I really like the load screen roulette wheel, so that hasn't quite gotten on my nerves yet.
  9. Sounds like a classic driver issue, tbh. Everything up to date on that front, and i dont just mean the obvious display stuff, but audio etc?
  10. Nah, not trying to get into a pissing contest, I have no interest in his catgirl or whatever the rationale for those things was...
  11. Vol's like a broken clock stuck at an inconvenient moment. Only right twice a day, but somewhat embarrassing when he is.
  12. Strawman of the week. Captain obvious of the week. But no, seriously, I think that expecting to play games these days on a computer without internet access is not far removed from expecting to play them on a computer with no power. Of course, my perception could be coloured by the fact that I live in a country where it's possible to get (3g wireless) internet access without actually having electricity.
  13. I saw a Luck 5/7, but pretty sure it wasn't in red. Apart from that, enjoying the game quite a bit. Have had two lockups during the day on the PS3 (both right after entering new areas), but no quest-related bugs. The latter is fairly impressive, considering how hard the game branches. Hoping my luck will hold. Not sure if my inability to pick up the Q-35 is a bug or if I'm just not supposed to be able to pick it up from the red force field. Anyway, my personal respects to everybody involved with the game, excellent work! The only Fallout game that I've played before this one was 3, towards which I was apathic at best, and I've been enjoying it quite a bit so far. My impressions might be colored by the fact that I'm off solid foods and staying at home, sulking, though.
  14. I'm of the opinion that liking FO3 isn't a matter of taste, but lack of it.
  15. No, it just makes you easily satisfied. ....muahahahahahahha.... ahem, yes. I'd say that's a better thing than never being satisfied with anything.
  16. The game also requires electricity to play. Should we take up arms on behalf of those without access to it?
  17. It's been so long I can't really remember any of the good bits. I mean, the "backstab us as much as you want, we'll still call you about the next mission", "unified ammo" and stuff like the "improved hacking" were just BAD decisions. Not sure what the justification for skill points was, either, but the "waaa, shooting should be player not character skill based" cry was relived some years later with Mass Effect. You know, I really wanted to agree with your statement originally, I even wrote some lines to that effect. But, no... Better off ignored!
  18. Well, I'm glad that putting my rent money in my mouth has at least proved to be an educational experience...
  19. Not very, unfortunately it's common parlance where I work.
  20. I think that what's sure is that the quality of new threads has dramatically declined over the past week...
  21. Put one team to rework Deus Ex (let's not forget it already had an apparently very well done console port), release that, then keep a bigger one on an actual sequel that conveniently ignores Invisible War...
  22. Thanks, I was thinking of stone, but I was thinking it might have been a false friend (that's what it's called in Finnish...)
  23. Possible "HD'd" Deus Ex, too...
  24. Lost 1/3 of a tooth to a pizza. Or an olive that had that hard core thing (what do you call those in English?), when it wasn't supposed to. Good thing is there wasn't any apparent root damage (I'd had root canal for that tooth, so I risked losing the whole damn thing), but I'll only know finally in a couple of months. Bad thing is that my rent money went there, and getting it in the back is in the hands of a couple of Kurdish guys and their insurance company. The owner is a nice guy, but I'm already writing an application for summons, just in case.
