  1. No. No, it definitely is not. Change is usually slow and orderly. By voicing your opinion, by using diplomacy, by outside influences, the people itself, politics, etc. Not even during a revolution are things abrupt and chaotic, mainly because all the underlying systems remain intact and only the head is changed. Some revolutions are more total than others. IIRC the Khmer Rouge basically killed everybody who didn't have calloused hands. That cleaned the clock of the civil service pretty effectively.

The only exclusive content is the comic, but there's "exclusive" content that I take to be the gear that was released in different (pre-release) promotions. I think they are handling the port in a pretty elegant fashion, but I doubt anybody here cares about my opinion.
  6. Hmm I hadn't thought about that, but it makes sense.. We still get most series about a year behind US (unlike, say, UK or even Sweden). This leads to rather entertaining situations, where box sets are often out before a season even starts here... often the very same box sets that will eventually get released here (Finnish subtitles and all, 'cept I don't use them which gives me even more options) and which can be bought from any European webstore without restriction, thanks to the EU. Still, it means that to legally view them, I'd have to wait almost a year in any case, even if I get to pull of some pretty entertaining marathons (Lost season 6 and Chuck season 3 over the past week or so!)

  12. http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/14...180575&lf=8 Or to recap: The cutscenes in DA2 are "class aware", so that unlike in Mass Effect (2), your character won't suddenly whip out a gun he's not proficient with (or maybe not even carrying) for a cut scene (I especially "liked" the ME1 cutscenes, like the one just before the final fight, that actually CHANGED my weapon...). So a fighter will do x, a mage will not magically summon a 2h sword for the scene etc. That's a definite step forward, and hopefully something they'll roll into ME3, too.

It also specifically mentions that Shadow Broker, Kasumi and Overlord are on-disc, then mentions "another mission with about 6 hours play time". NO WAY are Bio going to make a 6 hour exclusive mission for PS3, so IMO it's safe to assume that this is another piece of paid DLC to be released before or simultaneously with the PS3 release. There's been a deep silence on the ME2 DLC front for two months now (the game had monthly DLC packs until Shadow Broker came out), but after the charlie foxtrot their forums were after the Shadow Broker announcement, I seriously doubt they are going to say ANYTHING until any future DLC is out of the approval process (like they did with the later DAO DLC).
  15. I hope this 6 hour addon will also be available for PC/360 users as DLC later on. I got the more "exact" recap on the bio boards, and frankly the DLC could be anything - including DLC that is going to be released either before or at the same time for the other platforms. Apparently the introductory content is going to be in the form of an "interactive comic" (so that you can pick your key decisions for ME2).

  18. Apparently they make online browser games that look a bit like those popular Facebook games like Farmville and Mafia. Seems like he might have a bit of a reason to be biased here. I do see the subscription model changing in the near future, but I think it will always be a part of most AAA MMO's. For example, LotRO still has a very good amount of monthly subscribers, despite implementing a free to play and micro-transaction model. Also means that their opinion has less weight than that of the homeless guy who sits outside the local gamestop. a. Just because he does not make AAA games does not mean his view point is automatically invalid. b. He still works in the industry, more so then you or I. Thus his opinion still carries more weight until either of us do. I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that you knew what I do or don't do for a living.

I think it's time we just accept that Boo will never again like anything Bioware will make, so that he will stop trying to twist his subjective opinion into quantifiable objective fact and I can stop getting headaches from trying to connect the dots in the argument. When ME 2 came out, I started a thread on the BSN suggesting I'd like to see their costume system in DA II. Queue eight pages of posters calling me a console kiddie who wanted to dumb down RPGs. Also, not a real BioWare fan who needs to go back to her JRPGs. I don't think it's just packrats. I think there are many people who see the most cumbersome aspects of Western RPGs as important and defining the genre. It's an entertaining circle. People bemoan the reuse of CRPG tropes ("we haven't seen anything innovative in 10 years!"), and then when a game tries to move past them, they start bashing those games for "no longer being RPGs", because they no longer subscribe to those tropes. Some of the most contested "it's no longer an rpg, they sold out!" features of ME2 have clear parallels and examples in P&P RPGs... the Agency handing out the weapons is reminiscent of Spycraft, mission-based (as opposed to kill-based) exp is probably more widely used these days... *shrug*, it's their loss, not mine, and when I finally completely tire of the incessant inane whining, I can always leave.
  22. I'm also more than a little unclear on the risk division on this game, is lucasarts just looking to fill their pockets with 0 financial risk, or are they actually just as involved but not as trendy a subject as EA+Bio?
  23. I couldn't get it to display either. I think it's intentionally locked out in the demo (ie. not ready).
