Yes. A thousand times yes. It's also so obvious, I hope you're not the first one to mention it I've seen a "majority of players" and a "majority of writers" totally pulled from the ass in one day. Just thought I should mention it.

Good narrator in that one. Reminded me of Kevin Michael Richardson, but don't think it's him...

The Iraq war was a disgrace, but sometimes we forget just how much
Nepenthe replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
You're describing an ideal situation in there. In practice rules are broken, the average voter just picks a familiar name he can somehow identify with and bureaucracy just buries everything. In your ideal world, the Rules of War would never have been broken, there never would have been any civilian casualties and weapons of mass destruction would have been found in Iraq. Stuff like wikileaks should not be necessary. But in this imperfect universe, I think they do more good than harm. -
this thread gave me the impression that the whole game is built around two people telling the same story from two different points of view, so I figured it's gonna be happening throughout the whole game. While I still can't figure out what the hell was bio doing all those years doing DA and come up with the game they did, I don't think they would even consider that. It would get REALLY old, REALLY fast. That would be the cheapest way ever to extend the game. No, nothing I've seen or heard so far has pointed in that direction, the narrative thing is only used to allow for arbitrary time-forwarding, as I understand it.

Ignorance colours perception in a lot of ways.

I was under the impression that it was a one-off happening near the beginning of the game. If you have better info, please share.

I had this too. Then I turned Discovery HD on and watched Treasure Quest and some doc on Highland Games. I got to work at noon, but hey, had a good morning.

That's interesting, generally the US/FIN prices translate $=

What glitches did you have? As far as I remember there was nothing gamebreaking in the PS3 release apart from problems with the checkpoint system which can be resolved Late to the party but: the PS3 version has lockups (I had a repeatable one related to turning televisions on. Awkward, when you are actually supposed to do it a couple of times). And there were these couple of times when, at band camp, I fell into the skybox (actually it was the taipei metro part. Felt like Jacob's Ladder or something. Waited for devils to start tearing the life away from me). Hoping stuff eventually gets sorted. I'd love to play this game more, but as it is, the second time felt more like punishment than something I do for fun... :/

Don't worry, you're in good company, the vast majority of video games writers don't get it either. Still, the difference between narrating a story and making the player interact with it should be pretty clear. It is to me, at least. ... I assume this handbag is yours?

You know what, I understand both sides of the deal here. The LOTR stuff is VERY important to the NZ's branding (which we've discussed in this forum before), while WB wants to make the movie for as little as possible (not that it won't make billions, again, anyway, but still!). The sense of entitlement (which I'm not seeing as anything more than an argument to get the masses moving, people in general having a colossal sense of entitlement as spending any amount of time in a video game forum will show to you) is mostly born out of the fact that they've made LOTR such an important thing for themselves, they literally can't imagine Hobbit being shot anywhere else. Even though it could probably be done with a minimum amount of hassle and nobody would be able to tell the difference...

More like they're clearly writing power fantasies based on the wants of a large section of the RPG crowd. There's nothing inherently bad with that, in fact, most RPG developers, Obsidian included, do that. But I seriously doubt they're so enthusiastic about rewriting the same type of tale the millionth time. I dunno, it seems to have worked just fine for, say, John Grisham and Tom Clancy. Still not seeing any reason why writing for games should be different.

I've used just Boone, Veronica and Ed-E, and have had to take 0 effort to keep them alive. Use Boone outdoors, Veronica in tighter quarters and hey, presto.

Seriously? That's as idiotic as it gets. "I think she's wonderful" etc etc.\ Nice screenies, and despite how anime it's gotten I'm starting to think that they have a point in that it does give the game a stronger look. I would bet money that Isabella was in the plans for the first game but it ended up being trimmed and cut down, so a lot of her character work was already laid out and they liked what they had and how it could fit in with the new story. She sure seemed set up that way... Also agree with the obviousnes of writer preference driving story. And again facepalming at non-writers lack of grasp of it. I'm surprised Tigranes, who's had to do academic writing, doesn't know better.

'Armoury' (that's what a rustkammare is, not how you load the handcrossbows)

Since I'm not allowed to eat solid foods for two weeks now, this thread is not making me feel better.

The item I saw for UK specifically mentioned "all platforms". Actually only 10% of tracked sales were for PC version. What do you mean actually? I wasn't commenting on the relative spread of the sales between the formats, merely commenting on the fact that FONV topped all the charts...

I agree with you on this. In the current situation AO games (and some other forms of adult-only entertainment) are not available in regular stores due to a certain stigma they carry. If the legislation is changed so that more games are restricted from minors, it's not a stretch to imagine that the stores would change their policy in this matter - they are, after all, out to make money. Unless most of the sales are to minors who aren't supposed to be playing the games in the first place, which might very well be the case.

I think she's the perfect character to reuse - memorable (though probably for the 'wrong' reasons), but an empty vessel to be filled with new daddy issues. But honestly WUE, is there the possibility of using a DAO character that you wouldn't have a complaint about? Surely not Sandal?

You could start by joining the Schengen and sacking all the border guards.

Quality game journalism at its best. Not. (Also the Warden is going to be seriously sad about this. He only had the choice between a crazy nun, a vicious witch and a merry assassin. No nympho pirates.)

Meh. Even my fetish for girls with labrets doesn't make that work for me. Could have been just the framerate challenged facebook version I watched. :I

Also, I've apparently misplaced my wallet. Probably somewhere in here, but I know have roughly 50 % more stuff than normal, due to some things that are going to my mother's place. And this place wasn't exactly orderly and tidy to begin with. So time to skip work for the day, roll up the sleeves and start cleaning. Also have a splitting headache from RAGE and lack of caffeine, I suppose.
