  1. Well, unless it's a couple of talibans with knifes. Then you hope you've taken a seat by the aisle and take the initiative to kick their asses. Of course, highly doubtful anyone with half a brain is going to try a plane hijacking these days. Their success was wholly dependent on the other people aboard not fighting back, a highly unlikely scenario post 9/11. p.s. I'm an aviation lawyer, so I could probably tell stuff that would make most of you unable to get on a plane without a full narcosis.
  2. This is a logical fallacy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_emotion This. I've seen some pretty horrific things in the course of my employment history, including the autopsy pictures of a brutally murdered teenage girl (stabbed over a hundred times) and yet I believe nothing justifies the death penalty. Lifetime imprisonment is a suitable penalty for even the most heinous deeds. The aspect of revenge and vendetta are strongly related to family/clan based justice and should not form a part of a government monopoly on violence (which is what the police/justice system implies). My opinions on people who are found to be "insane" and thus unable to stand trial are, on the other, very different, but not on topic (as I don't think that they should be fried/gassed).
  3. This thing brings Life of Brian to mind. It even has the messianic figure.
  4. Some people thought that somehow the PC version would have been a "true notary-verified DA:O experience". Turn out they'll get the same thing as the consoles. There's no pulled camera in the footage shown, so I don't really see how that's relevant anyway. I'll only make the call on what's in the game when it's released, not before. An unpopular viewpoint, I know.
  5. Because he wasn't extradited to Sweden to face espionage charges.
  6. Just like lynching is ok as long as you're a political conservative?
  7. Shouldn't your cricket team have it's own website called Wicket-Leaks? Bada-bisch! I'm here all week! I prefer Wookieleaks.

Unless you go into starvation mode. It's not mathematical, but mostly it is, indeed, just a question of eating less than you consume. And yeah, if I'm going to be (more) snappy(/ier) than usual, now you all know why.
  9. You might find yourself buying very few games at that rate.
  10. They mention the online connectivity/"social" gaming aspects as an example of what they mean - these are already present in DAO, strangely absent in ME2. Really well done in the new Need for Speed, though. So I wouldn't take it to mean multiplayer only - not just yet, anyway.
  11. Eh, blending wouldn't be that important, JC's role in UNATCO seemed like a spec op trooper rather than a spy, but he does get pretty powerful as it goes on anyway so could play out that way. As for a remaster of DX (DX3 will do well, don't give gamers too much credit), maybe it won't end up as a George Lucas style re-issue, heh - damn Quebecers. He was a proto for MJ12 agents, who couldn't operate as openly. He also does a "blend" entry on at least one occasion (versalife), I'm sure there are others I can't remember.

Bingo. If these are directed at me, do I need to point out that I'm not a complete **** and am aware of this? Additionally paying attention to macros helps, and diving the calories so that you don't get hungry.
  13. Well, seeing how Jensen can eventually cloak, and just wear a trenchcoat and shades, not sure about that, or why Gunther and Anna aren't that special. But eh, is sequel power creep I suppose, just is funny from an in-universe sense. My real worry is them deciding to reboot the entire series. I agree that Jensen is more "stealthy" than Gunther or Anna, but the double full-arm prothesis going to be a lot harder to conceal. Also cloak =/= stealth, you want to blend in without burning the batteries. Still expecting a "hd remaster" of DX in the near future, if DX3 does as well as should be expected...

I'm quite fond of vegetarian sushi as an uber-light alternative lunch, at the moment. Helps that the best sushi joint in town is one block away from the office (Zen @ K
  15. Pretty much this. I also liked how it managed to stay pretty gripping, even with it's not-inconsiderable length. I'd count the (minor) branching in the story, (not) saving brother Paul, as neat and very-well executed. My favourite DX moment is totally random. One one playthrough I was coming back from the ocean lab, when suddenly I hear a "beep" from behind me and a MJ12 diver tosses a LAM on me. Almost jumped through the ceiling - point being that no obvious scripting caused the I think it's pretty well established in DX(1) that the superiority of nanotechnology is in it's stealthiness. Gunther and Anna can do pretty much everything you can, but they can't pass off as "human". Paul can, and JC just needs the sunglasses to hide his "augmented vision". So the trick in nanotech is the ability to field augmented people without the augmentation being obvious. Since we're on the topic of DX, there's one thing I don't get. Jojo Fine in the 'ton Hotel. I've actually managed to enter dialogue with him once, but on all the other times he's just running through his scripted sequence with his "oh, you bad!" bark. It's been bugging me all these years.
  16. I don't think so. The engine needs upgrades for rendering a huge island alone. Plus the graphics of TR:U looks dated. IIRC they're using it for Deus Ex: HR, though, so there's been constant work on it, at least.

You see, here's the thing - we don't know why trans fat is "bad," or even if it is "bad." We don't understand the biochemistry. Current nutrition is based on some very shoddy science with large, poorly-controlled correlative studies. I'm quite sure that someone can get their daily limit of calories from McDonalds (let's say, 2000 kcal/day), and with a bit of vitamin supplements, be completely fine. The only real problem might be sodium. You know they couldn't technically prove that asbestos was bad for you for several years after the connection with cancer and respiratory illnesses was made, a lot more people died as a result. Do I want to chance it ? Not particularly. Trans fat is linked with heart disease according to Wikipedia (that's not scientific, I know) but it does say that most governments recommend a cap just for that reason. I'll take their word for it. Yeah, just like it hasn't been scientifically proven that there's a human-caused global warming. Of course, by the time that such a thing could be scientifically proven, it'd in all likelyhood be so late rowboats would be the major form of transport in Manhattan.

My blood pressure is a problem too. This getting older stuff is messed up. I made some pretty good burgers last night, 1/4 pound Angus steak with a bit of Worcestershire Sauce and Steak magic seasoning. I cooked some Ore-Ida fries in the oven and served it with carrots. Looking at your last night's cooking, I'd say blood pressure's the result, not the problem So far not starving, but history points tomorrow to being the worst day in the affair. Let's see how I manage.
  19. I know, imagine having to spend all day with lawyers, blech! Yeah, it's hard to live with myself.

Started a diet after gaining 20 kilos in ~8 months. Blood pressure's probably also gone through the roof, so I really need to stay motivated with this.
  21. Considering the inherent negativity of most things lawyers have to deal with at work, I'd generally advice against drinking on the job. It can be habit-forming.
  22. Agree on Sega or Axivision, disagree on EA. As if.
  23. Feeling a bit better now. Lay on my office floor with the lights off for a bit. Not quite Orde Wingate, but still good no-one saw me. I took a big armchair (Ikea Ektorp for those following on your storybooks) to work, and unashamedly take snorey naps in it on a daily basis. The fact that I work 70+ hours a week there and they don't pay me removes any shame I might otherwise feel.
  24. None taken - I agree on that part, but my first point stands. It's an unnecessary invasion of privacy that serves to no practical purpose.
