Why are people talking about North Korea like they are lead by rational people?
  3. Considering the kind of crap most of you guys apparently are happy to pay the full price for, I find your approach in this case absurd. Unless it's again somekind of "fishing for cool points in the rpgcodex subculture" thing, and I'm not getting it.
  4. Well they can't balance their budget because they are spending trillions more than they can possibly make. CA already has the highest state taxes in the country and businesses and taxpayers are leaving the state by the tens of thousands. How many congressional seats did you guys lose? One? More? That is leaving behind the people who depended on those taxpayers for their "benefits" but who don't pay taxes thelselves, and a handful of billionares and millionares whos own tax bills could not possibly balance the budget for one year if you confiscated their entire net worth. And rather than fix the problem you guys vote in a governor who's plan is to tax more and spend even more... if thats possible, But what does he care, once he bankrupts the state the federal government will step in and bail it out and all of America will get to pay for CAs insanity. Sorry Hurlie, I don't find that surprising at all. How about cutting the pay for State Legislators and officers 30% accross the baord. I bet they never considered that. How about cutting property taxes and business taxes to entice people to come back? That will never happen under Brown. If I were you I'd be better than half way to Arizona or Nevada by now! They need good teachers there too and likely treat them better! Well, we're bailing out Greece and Ireland, probably soon Portugal, Spain, Italy and Belgium, so it would only be fair for you guys to feel royally reamed, too.
  5. You just described every corporation at any time beginning with the Dutch East Indies company.
  6. Apparently Gamestop US has the "Augmented Edition" available for pre-order... Of course, if you order via there just to get that.. you probably won't get it on day one.. ah, the choices you have to make.. I'll just use the local Gamestop, when it shows up there. Hate the place, but it's five minutes from work, so can't complain. Eurogamer has more details: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-12-...gmented-edition Looks like the mission pack is a preorder item, and the "2nd pack" is part of the limited edition. S'yeah, they aren't mutually exclusive. Haven't seen a single preorder bonus that wouldn't have been available in Europe for the past year or so, btw.
  7. Generally nothing to boast about.
  8. Thank you for this enlightening lesson in source critique. If you want to discuss this further, I will be holding a course on the subject for graduate students during the spring term. Please don't come. Wikipedia provides easy linkage to topics of common knowledge, I didn't feel like the issue warranted me into going into proper literary sources and scan/pasting stuff here...

Yeah, but as wonderful as that is, NK doesn't have to hit even Alaska to **** up the world, Hollywood plots notwithstanding, there's a lot of major targets closer than that.
  10. Who says they aren't? We've only seen part of the prologue so far... Father Hawke is an apostate mage of the noble Amell family. The same as the human mage in Origins. Eh? Father Hawke is an apostate mage of the... Hawke family. Hawke's mother is an Amell.
  11. Considering the brilliant music in the trailers, I'll definitely be gunning for that edition. I still hope I can get an English version, while I'm fluent in French, I doubt it would be the same. Even for a game developed in Monreal.
  12. Oh yeah, that one.
  13. Would I be discussing common-knowledge NATO nuclear weapons sharing if it weren't for wikileaks? I doubt it. Do I or anybody else capable of using wikipedia gain anything from it? Not really.
  14. Let's not forget Deirdre & Joluv! I agree with most of your points, but there've been times when I've been very impressed by the preorder stuff. I kind of wish it was always just gimmicks and stuff, or that I'd at the very least know beforehand. Like the exclusive mission in the first DX3 option. Probably going to be nothing to write home about, but the OCD in me insists that I get it. Gnn.
  15. Meh, don't like these mutually exclusive preorder packs. Can live with one, like EA's been doing of late (Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and DA2), but stuff like this and ME2 make me... UNHAPPY. Especially when the best gun in the game is one of these items, like it was with ME2 (Blackstorm. Never have I been gladder to have bought it from Lamestop. And beating the system and getting pretty much everything else, too).
  16. I think it's more of a "Monte wants to draw conclusions that make him go postal based on WMGing and incomplete second hand information"?
  17. I was 100 % in support of Wikileaks the last time around (the Reuters 'incident'), but not sure if this kind of thing really has any benefit. My opinion is that leaking is justified when it has a clear morally acceptable purpose, like exposing an atrocity or cover-up, but publishing classified documentation for the heck of it... meh. Shades of grey...
  18. Well, I hope you immediately wrote to them with your problem, instead of whining about it on a forum for a day or two. Your 'honest mistake' argument will be less believable for every second that passes.

Nuclear launch detection is all well and good when dealing with ICBMs targeted at you. With SCUDs and their evolution MRBMs the people within the range will have roughly one option: Also never underestimate the capability for self-delusion of people held in a near-godlike status in their country.
  20. That sounds like some ladies I've been eyeing. I'd extend my condolences to the Architect, but considering the tawdry semi-joke above, I can't do it in a classy manner.
  21. That's definitely one thing I could have already read from the Other Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_sharing Definitely NOT news.

Unless it goes nuclear, even a couple of "dirty" missiles could do lots of unpleasant things in the area, no matter who the eventual victor is.
  23. An insurance company is trying to rip me off. I'm both annoyed by it on a personal level (I now have to at least call them out on it, if not actually take it to court or some voluntary board-type system), but since my profession and title were specified on the paper, I also feel like it's an affront to my professionalism (since they are using paragraphs 3, 5 and 6 of the product liability to act to argue why their client is not liable - when paragraph 4 flat out says that he is). So it's a kind of combined rage over a corporation trying to screw little people over as well as being treated as one of said little people.
  24. And.....? And what? Does that require extra specification in Texas?
  25. ... we're talking about the first kotor, here?
