  1. I'm not 'blaming' anyone, certainly not Obsidian. I'm saying that if Bethesda keeps making these (timed) exclusive deals, they have to accept that they are taking Microsoft's money instead of, and not in addition to, mine.
  2. Depressed and at work. Going to be spending most of the "holidays" here, too. Hopefully get to have some time off in February - which reminds me of the fact that I'm turning 30 then and not really digging it.
  3. Not really happy with the kind of DLC that makes "impossible" things easier for those that cough up the extra money (the water bottle in FONV, or what they seem to be considering here). There's still some really good DLC out there, I think FO3 (which I'm on record as not liking) had some really good stuff as DLC (point lookout) and I've really liked some ME2 DLC (both Kasumi and Shadow Broker were top-notch IMO, actually superior or at least equal to the best story missions in the shipped game), even though Bio's DLC record so far has been less than stellar (Bring Down the Sky was ok, DAO DLC was uniformly disappointing and seemed ultra low-budget in comparison to the ME2 stuff released at the same time - really liked Leliana's Song, though). Some of us will get to see what Obsid does with the FONV DLC, but I'm unhappy with the redux of x360 exclusiveness to the point where I'm not sure I'll get it even if it ever gets released on PS3.
  4. As did MoH - they even used a different engine for the MP part. It's classic "I have no idea how game development or budgeting works*, but I still have a strong opiniong about it" thinking. Hell, generally the less people know about anything, the stronger their opinions are - why should gaming be different. *hint, bigger projected sales through adding multiplayer enable hiring people to do just that. People who might actually be specialised in that sort of stuff, as opposed to doing SP (action) RPGs.
  5. That's part of growing up. Yep. The difference will be just how welcome a guest you're going to be compared to everybody else. These days I consider my parents my best friends, first...
  6. I thought the demo was ok and I got the game dirt cheap a couple of months ago. Life's just been hectic, so I haven't had the kind of mentality a new game needs (I also have Witcher on the cards at some point). I just wound up watching Blues Brothers tonight, instead.
  7. I kind of learned to pick the patterns by squinting my eyes, eventually. But I'm (at least officially) not retarded, and it was pretty painful. But you always have the option for bypassing them with the emp, so... Haven't played anything a in a couple of days. Vacillating between replaying ME2 again, trying arkham asylum or taking another shot at Alpha Protocol...
  8. The HUD looks functionalist (in the architecture context), but is way better than the DAO HUD, which meant that on lower resolutions (PC and Console, running 720p to a 40" 1080p tv) meant that it was REALLY hard to see the health and stamina/mana bars for the currently active character. Looks like the new HUD has sorted that, but really doubt this is the final one. Wouldn't be the first time, either, I think the final HUD for ME2 was basically the last thing demoed.

  10. Yeah, Wikileaks has never confirmed that Bradley was the source, and you could also see them not getting involved as just adhering to proper journalistic standards. Or, as my world is not black and white, somewhere between the two.
  11. Youtube vids run at a low fps, always makes framerate/animations look choppy. Doesn't mean they aren't, though, just that you can't tell from the source.
  12. Congratulations! At this end, we had the office xmas part last night. You think you've gotten over things, moved on, and then you realise your ex-girlfriend is in 90 of the 115 pics you took and you've had nightmares all night.
  13. I don't think that the point has ever been about "everybody's info" being fair game, but more to show people what the "elite" (whether it's Kaupthing, some other multinational corp, the U.S. Govt) tries to conceal, not because it's a "matter of national security", but because it's a) embarrassing and/or b) criminal. Or, you could just be strawmanning.
  14. Still think sharing a release date with DA2 factored into the decision.
  15. No. Apartheid was a democratic law, too? Sometimes a law, while at face value democratic, can be something totally different. I pretty much subscribe to this: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/20...acy-open-letter And: "democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." - Winston Churchill
  16. **** Well, the initial release date was the same as for Dragon Age 2, so this might have been a good move. Surprised it was Squeenix that chickened though, if I had to pick just one between the two, it would be Deus Ex for sure.
  17. That would make ME the Fight Club of gaming.
  18. Paranoid much? Instead of moaning about other people's anti-Americanism, I'd instead be worried of how your country is perceived by foreigners.
  19. I know, I took what you said and expanded on it. LotSB spoiler:
  20. I don't get to do this often, but Volourn is pretty much right. The Bioware doctors were, post acquisition, moved to key positions within EA. It's safe to say that on some levels, EA became a part of Bioware, instead of the other way around. I didn't say "skill checks" I meant it as a synonym to your "interrupt". and I don't feel like elaborating, sorry It's ok, it still doesn't make any sense and I doubt elaborating would help.
  21. I think that's a good guideline we all could always try to bring to mind.
  22. A lot was made of the bugs it had, and I'm pretty sure it was a lot less buggy than FO:NV was on release. Still, I fell into the skybox a couple of times and had a few hard locks, so a patch would've been nice, but apparently Sega is beyond caring. I will keep buying (happily) Obsidian products, but Sega will be boycotted.
  23. What? The interrupts don't have checks in the first place, nor is, thankfully, every action either renegade or paragon.
