  1. Fluoride: If you have to live there, you deserve a little joy every now and then... :D
  2. Especially since you won't be able to get more than 2 out of those on any given playthrough
  3. Clearly you underestimate the psychological hurdle taking a hammer to a nut represents to a man.
  4. Been supporting the British economy all day. I can't find my amex, but I'm hearing a distant whimpering from a corner in the hotel room.
  5. Interesting thought. Never really thought of it that way before, but it is rather spot on. We are after all talking about "unessential" stuff, like entertainment and not a new malaria vaccine. Patronage was, back then, a single wealthy individual/family giving money to an artist so they could get stuff (and probably political/superiority points vis a vis other nobles or wealthy bourgeoisie). In fact, the big publisher model is a lot closer to it than kickstarter is.
  6. I know I wasn't, I'm just sort of half-expecting Big Publishing to try to paint it as such...
  7. I've had that happen too, the minifreezer I had in my student housing back in the day had a leaky door and which resulted in massive ice build up.
  8. Heh, forgot to pick the game up yesterday, got a message today that my previously cancelled Dark Edition is, in fact, available. So I guess I'll grab it when I'm back from London.
  9. I'm sure some would say "socialist", too...
  10. That's fairly true. However a lot of these people are giving money on Kickstarter to support the concept and the developers, and may have significantly less interest in actually playing the game. Indeed, (even) I like the concept of taking Big Publishers/Venture Capitalists out of the equation. Sure, I feel a lot more comfortable giving my money to a HD remake (like the Larry ones) than a complete unknown, but when the designers are a kind of dream team for many, I can happily take that risk.
  11. I "liked" this, but then I started suspecting that you meant me.
  12. Yeah, it's funny, yet there was a public outroar in Norway when he was found insane on the first round. I don't think most people who don't work in the system realise the upside of the indefiniteness, or the fact that at least in the Nordic countries, the asylums for criminally insane are A LOT grimmer than prisons. For the record, Norway is pretty alone in not carrying a life sentence; even if, say, Finland paroles most life convicts at less than 15 years, some people do wind up spending a lot longer there.
  13. Bah, even I, the pussiest of **** gamers have no problem with those. Wasted resources, working as intended.
  14. I thought the EG review says just that it will be rolled into the pc version? Obviously, I'm not in a position to compare. ... Or even boot the game before next week.
  15. I'm shaking my head at the publicity they are giving that lunatic, and wincing in anticipation of multiple copycats because of it.
  16. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-the-witcher-2-tech-analysis That's fairly impressive. Guess I'll go pick it up today, even if I can't play it until next week, earliest.
  17. $55 is the digital special edition *if* you want more stuff and don't want to deal with that hassle (I took my chances and went with the $75 box). Nothing bad if you're satisfied with the $30 tier though. Yeah, I did catch that - what I meant that the 30 level gave me everything I want in digital, the other stuff I might have been interested in was physical. And talking about physical, also chipped in to the Larry remake, they're actually still short of their target.
  18. Chipped in a 30, would've loved some of the more special signed stuff etc., but it's really too much of a hassle when you have to deal with the post, VAT etc.
  19. You hate the character because it's well and consistently done, not because it's ****. That's an achievement in itself.
  20. Based on Mars base the major difference between the two is the lack of loading everything with protections ME2 had, creating an artificial difficulty spike essentially to everyone but Soldiers - or maybe sentinels, since the first ignore defences and the latter specialise in removing them. Still, initial impression was that it felt fun, not a 26 hour trip to the dentists. (I don't generally care about achievements, but doing 100 % on the mass effect games - and deus ex:HR - has been a matter of pride to me). Or, we've just had too much practice with the system and are now just doing this:
  21. I play ME1 for the story, ME3 for the gameplay, ME2 for a little bit of both.
  22. http://www.edge-onli...-over-500-staff (EA to lay off 500 staff)
  23. I dunno, I was playing some ME3 on insanity yesterday, and at least my initial impression was that it might to turn out a challenging AND fun experience - something I can't really say about Insanity in either of the two previous games. Ie. they've (IMHO) consistently managed to improve the gameplay, at least.
