GamesRadar review: 9/10 imo fallout 1 had way worse bugs than fallout 2. either way, i don't complain about bugs unless they make me restart the whole game when im 3/4 of the way done. fallout 1 did this to me, and arcanum did this to me.

yeah, chet at goodsprings sells a shovel -
my favorite line of dialogue in the game so far is the "terrifying presence" benny conversation option: something along the lines of "I rose from the grave to put you in yours" boffo indeed.

its definitely very hyped. maybe overhyped too. same goes for braid, its a fantastic game, but its maybe overhyped. if only planescape torment had gotten the attention of portal or braid when it was released... -

im on level 21 with 9 iq, i have 3 skills at 100, one at 65, and one at 80. i havent added a single point to any of the others, this feels balanced to me, but my next playthrough i will probably take iq 10. i like skills. -
i have that too on my girl character but have not used it once yet, i dont think i'll take it again next time. and if you are a guy i have no idea if benny swings that way

after 20 levels thats 100 skill points different. -
pretty cool, its like a mix between the assassin and the amazon. will probably be my second character (witch doc first, monk 3rd, barb 4th, will never end up making a wizard before inevitable expansion which features probably 2 new characters of which i will play 1 and then never play the game again) yeah, i plan ahead.

this game really does feel like fallout 2 to fallout 1 in terms of amount of stuff to do. so many quests... and THANK GOD there is nothing as stupid (so far) as the quests like the Superhero Gambit from fallout 3... oh btw, i heartily recommend the black widow perk for girl characters. i have only used it once so far, with a certain checker suited fellow, but it led to a very satisfying event. edit: and i too remember agonizing over that sheriff decision, im still not sure if what i did was correct.

i agree that crysis is an awful awful game. and I agree that bioshock is great, its not as good as system shock 2, but its a great game on its own (not everything needs to be directly compared with similar games, slowtrain) i just think that most people who unequivocally bash portal are doing it to be contrarian. It sounds like you (boo) are not completely bashing it though so i'll consider your opinion/criticism valid (unlike volourns amazing post, which I have to say is one of the funniest posts i've read in weeks) though just because you personally are tired of ai gone rogue stories, doesnt mean that portal shouldnt still be objectively commended for presenting it in the best way since system shock 2 -
karma, from what i can tell, has no effect on anything. its only reputation that matters, and stealing without being caught appears to have no effect on reputation. i'm idolized by people everywhere (but at the legion), and i have looted my way across the wastes.

no you didnt boo. if you are not appreciating the humor mystery and charisma of portal then you are willfully closing your eyes to it because it's popular. don't be too cool for school, its unflattering. give in, indulge yourself in the experience of portal, its not a gimmick, its awesome. just because its short doesnt mean it isnt a game. -
an hd remix of deus ex could be really cool. if deus ex 3 is as good as im hoping then of course i would want a sequel. but a properly done, multi-years in the making not rushed out the door 13 months later sort of sequel

so many quests my brain is overloaded. its awesome. almost every complaint i had about fallout 3 has been adequately addressed. I so far have only modded one thing in the game (by this time in fallout 3 I had a list of ten things i needed to change) my only mod so far? a vanity mod: boosting the dam and lowering the rate of fire (via the animation speed) of That Gun (and changing the name to "Deckard")

to op: (and everyone else too) rosy colored backwards facing glasses. i wear them too, and sometimes forget thats what they are. then games like red dead remind me that great games do still come out. i, as an experiment, tallied how many "great games" (totally subjective based on my own fondness) came out each year since 1996. there have been spikes in a few years, (1999 and 2000 were very big spikes), but there was even a spike in one of the last 3 years as well (it surprised me too but when i added all the games up it was almost as many as 99, but way fewer than 2000) now im no statistician but i realize that a lot of these spikes were possibly (probably) occurring in years where i just plain played more games, and so a higher number of them got permanently branded as "great" in my head. but nonetheless, after said experiment, i found that generally the quality has NOT changed much at all. games have better things nowadays, and worse things too, the overall fun factor hasnt really changed (some years are much better than others though, one year had 11 i think, another year only 3 - which granted was a more recent year) -
must feel like a crazy day for sawyer and co. 12 more minutes.

that guy in camp was way over the line of what i consider acceptable dlc, totally stupid.

there will come a point that is too far, where enough consumers pass on an item that the drm is actually costing more money than the piracy they claim to be fighting against. ubisoft drm is well past that point for me. forced steam is pretty much AT that point, the only thing that makes me ok with steam is the absurdly good prices for software through them heck, right now its less than $5 for the entire tales of monkey island set...

definition of "dead" seems to be a big issue here. for 1 person, the release of (only) starcraft 2 and civ 5 in one year = pc is dead, for another person, the release of those two games in one year is proof that pc gaming is thriving. i'm in the middle, i think pc gaming is alive, but approaching 60 and has a lot of back pain and some mild arthritis. A far cry from the spry 25 year old who saw 4-5 big titles a year.

i remember the level design in halo 1 was atrocious, wasnt that the game that had you moving back and forth through a giant tunnel like area (a library?) for almost 2 hours? its been so many years since i played it so my memory is very hazy, i just remember thinking the game (other than the graphics and the regenerating health) was not even as good as perfect dark (and nowhere near half life)

i'm sure glitches occasionally happen, but i've been using steam for about 3 years and have never had a problem playing offline when i want to (only about 3-4 months of a given year will my gaming be offline, but its still a significant portion of time)
-
i have never liked halo because of the level design. I have played 1-3 but i'm skipping reach after being disappointed three times in a row. if i want to play a multiplayer shooter i'll play left 4 dead2 or team fortress 2.
