  1. has anyone played the force unleashed? its on steam sale for $7.50 but im still not sure if its worth the time to play it since its got pretty crap reviews
  2. i laughed at this way harder than i expected to
  3. Leveling was fine, but the save system was broken for a game where success wasn't based on skill with broken controls, but luck, and exploits. Heh... Zombie clown in my opinion isn't the worst of it. For all it's positive elements, its full of negatives. I hope that capcom has fixed it in DR 2, but I doubt it... I've hated every minute of it because I'm fighting the controls, and bad AI, opposed to playing the game. It wouldn't be hard to take the DR formula, and make a better game, its fundementally broken on so many levels. I'm shocked that there is so much love for it also... But hey RPG fan's do have an amazing tolerance for badly designed games, because they focus on the good despite the negatives. Dead rising makes me cry... SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL! i dont remember the controls having anything wrong with them, and what was wrong with the save system? if you failed you just restart and you keep all your experience from your last attempt so you didnt really lose anything, i know i restarted about 4 times before i finally had enough levels to handle the tougher parts of the game. for something so "broken" it seemed to have no real problems for me, nor for most/many people. I can understand not LIKING the save system, but saying its "broken" is being purposefully ignorant of reality. EDIT: i should preface that i bought the game for 9$ and loved it. I might feel different had I paid $60 for it.
  4. i dont like the gta comparison simply because i think gta sucks (except vice city) and I loved RDR. but this isnt the RDR thread so i'll stop talking about it.... only a lil more than a month now till fallout! i already have plans to take the day off for it does anyone know if steam is going to unlock the game monday at midnight?
  5. my cat walks along the sofa behind my head when im playing console games. she will often try to fall asleep directly between my head and the sofa, like a pillow. i welcome her to attempt it but inevitably she gets squished after a few minutes and squirms free. then she tries to eat everything in sight and knock over every glass on the table.
  6. ... i know its a cat but it still sounds wrong
  7. another note about Volourn, never ever ever bring up nwn oc. just don't do it. it summons him...
  8. i loved dead rising and didnt think there were any problems with levelling up or the save system, the only thing i didnt like about it was that ****ing jeep in the courtyard that NEVER stayed dead and the zombie clown... **** that clown
  9. i never once ran out of ammo except for my sniper rifle
  10. in reply to someone from last thread: red dead redemption WAS a buggy mess (for some people), it was also one of the best games this year, and one of my top 50 favorite games of all time. bugs don't mean a game is bad. also, i played the game for 80 hours and never experienced ANY bugs, but i have seen videos of them online so they exist but are not occurring for every player
  11. sounds complicated but i'll probably spend a lot of time playing it anyway. probably not as much time as i spent playing poker in red dead though...
  12. i was so dissapointed with halo 3 that I doubt I will get Reach. I have never liked a halo game but I bought all 3 because of the hype only to be let down time after time. I wouldnt say they are flat out bad games, but they have almost no replay value and the story sucks/is totally forgettable. the only things that are better than decent are the sound/music design and some of the smaller touches. i've never bought one of the treyarch cod games, and I probably won't this year either unless it gets stellar reviews for its engaging and thrilling campaign. vanquish... maybe when its in the bargain bin. fable 2 was a pretty big disappointment at full price despite having some fun aspects to it, i'll pick up number 3 when its in the bargain bin as well. the only games I know I will pay full price for during the rest of this year look to be Fallout New Vegas and Civ 5, IF (big IF) castlevania gets stellar reviews then I will buy it this year (but I am expecting it to be mediocre at best, the same can be said about Medal of Honor)
  13. for all the crap I talk about bioware (which isnt actually that much other than about nwn oc) i have to say that I had a lot of fun with both dragon age and with mass effect 2, and I am greatly looking forward to both sequels I couldnt be less interested in ToR though, but thats not really biowares fault, most mmo's have monthly fees viva guild wars 2! is it just me or does 2011 look a lot better for games than 2010? I remember last year everyone fussing about how many awesome games were coming out this year (and there have been some good ones, ME2, Red Dead, Starcraft 2... am i forgetting any others?) but next year looks just jam packed with good stuff (guild wars 2, deus ex 3, batman arkham asylum 2, Portal 2, Rage, Mass Effect 3, the last guardian, brink, possibly diablo 3 and starcraft 2:2) i know new vegas and civ are both still coming this year, but that's about it for the rest of the year right? unless you care about halo or the treyarch CoD game...
  14. love your sig volourn
  15. currently playing: assassins creed 2 puzzle quest 2 earthbound starcraft 2 finished splinter cell conviction, it was fun, but flawed and lacked a compelling atmosphere and story. worth the $20 I paid for it though.
  16. I like that analogy, and it seems pretty apt, i agree I wouldnt want it in every game, but in mass effect I think it works fairly well because shepard really does feel like a character that I am guiding, and that seems to be the intent of the designers to cultivate that feeling. (ie the feeling of being a part of an interactive movie)
  17. it bothers me in mass effect, but I also kind of like it, because sometimes i get pleasantly surprised by the actual words that are spoken. other times i get pissed because they don't quite match what i expected based on the little blurb
  18. i think a person who kills every single npc is usually just messing around or is a little kid. however, i like that I can kill ANY single (or multiple) npcs without it screwing up the whole game, or worse, having the kill not take effect and watching the rat bastard just stand up again after being shot in the head. some npcs just rub the wrong way and must be shot, its nice knowing they wont stand back up afterwards (oblivion had this the worst)
  19. i think the qunari look way better now. So far its the only thing improved looking in the new game, i think the darkspawn, which already looked lame, look much worse now.
  20. here piggy piggy piggy! maybe the final boss will look like Ganon?
  21. i wouldn't call CoD a cover based shooter either, that was the contrast i was making, i think my message was a bit muddled though lol i liked uncharted, but more for the feel of the game than for the gameplay itself. it has a fun world with cool set pieces and likeable characters. the opposite of gears of war i suppose
  22. i wasnt crazy about the Vanquish demo, then again, I don't like gears of war either so maybe cover based shooters just arent my thing. i hate the combat in uncharted i hate the combat in gears of war but I love the combat in CoD MW 1-2 I even like the combat in Resident evil 5, UNTIL you get to the cover based shooty parts. I did like how you could go jetting around the stages in vanquish, but you ran out of juice too fast and then had to go running back to cover... I was looking forward to playing it, but after the demo I was left with a "love the look, dont love the gameplay" sort of feeling, which means its not worth a buy for me until it hits the bargain bin. big scary boss fights are a huge plus for me too. a game that plays as well as CoD but with a cool design aesthetic and bigass monsters would be really great.
  23. femhawke is wicked awesome looking imo. http://kotaku.com/5632187/dragon-age-iis-h...emale-real-nice much better looking than the vanilla femshep option in mass effect. I'm sure i'll spend 10 minutes on the facegen thing anyway to customize her a bit, but still, i could look at that for a 40+ hour game and enjoy every minute of it
  24. the 50's stuff was more prevalent in fallout 2 than 1, and more in 3 than 2 imo
