  1. I once saw a woman hurl herself off of a tall building and hit a Volvo once. Probably twenty years ago. It was genuinely dreadful, but my mind wandered (as I suspect it does in unusual situations to distract you from the awfulness) to how durable the roof of a 440 estate is.
  2. Happy Independence Day to the Americans on the forums. We are unveiling a statue of The Gipper in London to mark the day, hope you have a peaceful holiday with friends and family. Cheers MC
  3. Search for the reviews we all did... personally I found Origins good fun and gave it a solid 8/10. Then again, I usually played with a bottle of vino to hand so please share your sober observations.

Mark Bowden's Black Hawk Down. I've read it three times since 2000. He's a brilliant journalist, the book is thoroughly gripping.
  5. Google it. I did and I still don't understand, really, WTF it is. I know the IT mentats on this board are insufferable, intolerant snobs but back in the day they would happily share their knowledge with others.
  6. I so badly want to love Arma. I really do. Superficially it has absolutely everything I should love in a game. Sadly, I only have two hands, ten digits and one brain. This precludes me understanding the bloody controls.
  7. FO:NV is Obz's best game to date, period. Although I haven't played DS3, I didn't like the demo much.
  8. Volo is freaking bullet-proof. He gives as good as he gets over there and there's grudging respect for him. He drives me nuts and he's on ignore, but bejaysus he's a natural Codexian. Folks like him can thrive over there, a bit like fungal infections
  9. "2 data points?" please tell me you're human.
  10. I dunno. The reason I posted the image was because the first FPS I fell in love with was Doom on the PS1. I loved getting lost, FPS to me seems to be the perfect genre for exploration and showing off 3d environments, if not the best for tactical gameplay. I played Bad Company 2 recently and realised that although it isn't a corridor game, it ain't far off in places.
  11. Pop am looking at dialogue but to be honest it's OK and I don't want to tinker with it for the sake of it. Am making some adjustments and working on a legendary Monk V Edwin lawful neutral / lawful evil banter-off.
  12. If you grind them up into a paste with some basil and olive oil they make a surprisingly tasty pesto.
  13. Huh? If you murder them you get some plate armour and a +1 halberd IIRC, which you can then sell to buy more phat lewt. Yes, I'm neutral evil and proud.
  14. The internet needs the Codex. Don't feel the need to post there much, but enjoy the banter. I am glad Gaider was chased off. Gaider is to gaming what Glee is to contemporary music.
  15. What is this Google+ of which you speak?
  16. Funny you say that, I'd be happy to swap. Bloody hate the south of England with a passion. Go home then, you whippet-loving miserabilist.
  17. Lend me your watch and I'll tell you the time.
  18. Bah! Feeble counter-slurs won't save you this time, you reptile-obsessed creature of the night. The game is up.
  19. I run a leading anti-tortoise trafficking charity called Shell-Shock. Millions of vulnerable tortoises (and indeed turtles and terrapins) are smuggled into the UK to satisfy the twisted desires of monsters like Walsingham. Please PM me your credit card details so I can fund the tortoise-salvation fightback immediately.
  20. If you are all so happy why do you need to go on (a) bleating about it and (b) invading Europe in clapped-out camper vans?
  21. Pop I didn't get that PM.
  22. Sounds like an interesting story, feel like sharing? Or are you still under a non-disclosure agreement? :: shrugs :: It's no biggie, but there were long hours, unhealthy peer-pressure and bullying. You'll never eradicate that, but it's much better in my industry now.
  23. I'm certainly not going to be critical of Mr. McNamara for his passion and work ethic, he comes across as a grafter alright. ... but (you knew that was coming) He's not a manager. It's the quintessential workplace dilemma that I'm sure many of us have seen. An operator or field guy is the best at his role but poor at managing staff or leading teams. So they go for the Roman slave galley approach instead and end up with this sort of scenario. Conversely, you get the professional 'generic' manager who thinks IT is the same as retail is the same as marketing is the same as... and this guy is a **** too. Anyhoo, that McNamara doesn't deny it sets him apart from the herd, but that doesn't mean I'd want to work for or with him. In my early career I worked in conditions and under practices that people entering the game now are spared. It doesn't make them any less good, just luckier
