  1. 1- Torrents aren't used exclusively for pirating. I download approximately 10-15 gigabytes per month of historical and political shows that aired in Russia on free television channels. That's just one of the million examples to use torrents legitimately. 2- What do you qualify as basic property rights, as opposed to advanced property rights? Owning physical objects such as apartment and a car is basic. Owning rights to a certain sequence of ones and zeros, that once decoded with a certain algorithm, turn into singing of words (that may have been "stolen" from previous singers), how is that simple? A singing that you did just once, then went home and made millions from it, that's not "basic", because it raises questions. How do you own rights of a sequence of ones and zeros? For how long should it remain YOUR property? How many millions is a person allowed to make yearly, since our resources aren't unlimited and by making so much money, your slow down humanity's progress, and since certain amounts of money are immoral, especially since they come from simple luck and no real useful accomplishment? Keep in mind, that money could be spent on research and development, or on sick kids, or on medical research for cancer. It's basic to you because you make absolutely no distinction between malum prohibitum and malum in se, which is a common trait of Westerners. If something is prohibited by law, then it must be bad (even if it isn't). If something isn't, then it must be good (even if it isn't). Independent thinking is frowned upon. 3- There can be models, in which private property in cultural and entertainment spheres doesn't exist, simply because those are essential to human beings, like medicine. Depriving people of such is one of the most inhuman ways to treat anyone. Providing a poor with a digital copy of his favorite song that he can't afford and WOULDN'T have afforded anyway (which means nobody loses anything), is it really a crime? Is it a crime that a kid whose parents are poor or simply don't spend money on him, gets to listen to someone sing? What a grim world you must live in. Nothing is simple about digital content. I don't really give a rat's arse about your definiton mate. The law in the UK regarding copyright is clear. The UK is entitled to operate within it's jurisdiction regarding the same. On a personal level, I've just written a book. It's with a publisher. It took me a long time to write, and if you want to read it you pay for it. Whining about free access to other people's labour just because it's in code doesn't cut any ice with me. Grow up.
  2. Anyone surprised? There's no freedom (of speech or other) in the West. It's a big joke. I know, where will this respect of basic property rights end, eh?
  3. That's how I roll, baby.
  4. You could also host country house murders.
  5. If Charlize Theron got any hotter I'd probably have a stroke heart attack (LOL!) edit
  6. Ah, have you seen the old british tv mini-series Ultraviolet? Jack Davenport, Idris Elba, Phillip Quast, Susannah Harker - In an interesting take on vampires in the modern age. They did it in, hm '98 or so. Works quite nicely, done in a mostly understated way. Davenport plays a policeman who gets pulled into a secret government organisation that hunts Vampires after his best friend goes missing on the night before the guys wedding. Elba is the hard core squaddie who survived a vampire attack during the Gulf war that killed the rest of his mates, Quast plays the philosophical priest who leads the team, and Susannah Harker as the science type supporting them.. During the entire series they never actually use the term "Vampire" either... Nice elements of horror / conspiracy and a few other things thrown in the mix. Ultraviolet was great. Did they make a US version or show the UK one over there?
  7. It's Fighting in Tunnels extreme. I can't wait.
  8. To seriously answer the question there are about ten people here who I listen to, cuz I know if they like a game I will. So really, I come here. A bit backwoodsman? Yep. Do I care? No. But most of us have been on the site since 2004, and were posting on similar sites since the late 90's so we know each others foibles by now.
  9. I roll a polyhedral dice, 1-10 I buy it, 9-20 I don't.
  10. ^ That picture reminds me of a job interview I once attended.
  11. How about the one where they sign a non-aggression pact and carve up Poland?
  12. Commandoes still looks great.
  13. Do we know if we can play on hard difficulty straight out of the box?
  14. There are (more than usually incredible) rumblings in the Company of Heroes community that Relic / THQ will announce CoH2 in the next month or two.
  15. I was surprised at the class roster TBH, where was stuff like the paladin, druid and assassin? As others have said, it'll be in an XP / DLC I suppose. The monk / witch doctor and wizard leave me cold.
  16. Finished the Beta at level 10 with Barbarian, will try Demon Hunter next. With more classes and higher difficulty this will be lots of fun. Will prolly be on later.
  17. By the way, I'm not sure the game auto-levels - playing a level 10 character with a level 6 felt very, very easy. And, to be fair to Blizzard, I'm getting onto the game very easily - server issue seems better.
  18. Tigs good to play, if I was being lame I blame it on my son - we were fighting for control of the mouse! I left when I got a godawful crash that shut down my 'puter!!!
  19. Guys is there a scout class that can recce without being spotted? Tigs I am airfixpanzer#2822
  20. A few more thoughts: I like the crafting system, a lot. Harvesting unwanted magic items into essences is fun. Usually I find crafting a bit of a chore, but upgrading craftsmen and making it more of a trading minigame is cool. You need to get up to level 10 or so before there is enough tactical flexibility to really enjoy combat - the barbarian now has the ability to leap into combat, make some interesting multi-opponent strikes then use a sort of spirit hammer to finish the mobs off. Leaping into mobs made up of elite enemies and bosses is great. The dynamic environment will be more fun at higher difficulties, luring mobs into areas where you can collapse a wall or drop a chandelier on them for example, or possibly for non-melee characters it's already useful. There's more to this game than meets the eye, lots of polished little details you find as you go along.
  21. Finally got into the barbarian properly... pretty good brutal fun and I love the massive dungeon levels. Basically it's FIghTIng In TUNNelZ heaven.
  22. I don't. This art looks like something people were making back in 2001. Even though this means looking like actual original art. Like that Da Vinci guy - wow that Renaissance art sucked.
  23. Does the owl join your party? He's cool.
