Diablo 3 Sign-Up
At level 34 on NM I found my first legendary item, a pair of gloves that dropped from a blue mob in The Cathedral. They're OK-ish but oddly have different class-based abilities (i.e. mine helps out a Demon-hunter more although I can wear them).

Diablo 3 Sign-Up
I'm now level 35 Bbn playing on Nightmare. All of a sudden, Diablo 3 feels like the game it was meant to be. Choosing kit and skills suddenly becomes far more important. There's even (gasps) an element of tactical thinking required. And the gonzo, visceral, utterly silly feeling of spamming obscene powaz in the middle of massive monster mobs is even more fun that before. Now, if I could find a weapon with a DPS of more than fifty....

(Advanced) Fighting in Tunnels
Hello. As you well know, the qunitessence, the existential raison detre of role-playing is Fighting in Tunnels. Everything else is wet, pansy, emo bollocks. Role-Plaeyers have been for many years baffled and seduced by inferior, lesser products than those included in the official Advance Fighting in Tunnels

What are you playing now?
Still playing D3, a little with Hurlie then later on Tigs helped me pop my boss-battle with Diablo cherry. It was emotional. Finished it on normal as a level 33 Bbn.

Update: Went for the ASUS PA246Q monitor as per Pidesco's strong suggestion and upgraded to 2TB of memory. I have two SSDs and the GeForce 670. The whole thing is going to be overclocked, of course Will let you know how the delivery and installation dramas turn out.

Cyberpunk 2020 by CD Projekt
It's an old-skool take on early cyberpunk, so it's more crunchy than the later stuff. In the RPG (PnP) you had some genuinely cool character builds and the setting was pretty cool.

Pidesco - ty will research the options on the monitors. I will definitely take your word for it.

Humanoid - good shout on PSU I'm asking that question. I'm easy about speakers, I'm with Spider on that one. Spider, I'm asking for a TB of memory, of course you are correct. I'm an old-skool gamer, I have shedloads of old games installed on the hard drive and I like it that way! This build came in a bit under budget - I can afford the memory so I'm going for it. To be fair, the guys at Cyberpower are very helpful and nothing appears to be too much trouble. I'll keep you updated as I go through the process. Cheers MC

Has a long chat with the guy at Cyberpower, who was very hlepful. He was in broad agreement with your views on chip versus memory and suggested this build... (based on their Liquid i7 Kraken but tweaked with an i5 chip) http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Liquid_i7_Kraken/ This case is much, much nicer though IMO... and it's very quiet http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/spec/getspec.aspx?n=CAS&v=CoolerMaster%20Cosmos%20Silent%20Gaming%20Tower%20Case%20w%2F%20420%20Watts%20Power%20Supply%20%28Full%20Tower%29%20%28Original%20Color%29 CAS:CoolerMaster Cosmos Silent Gaming Tower Case w/ 420 Watts Power Supply (Full Tower) [+4] (Original Color) CASUPGRADE:NONE CD:24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD

Thanks guys, there is some food for thought there. So what you are saying is that I can scale the CPU back to an i5 but beef up the memory to SSD and 1 TB HDD? The options are there on the site when ordering. I agree that 128GB seems small, I have a lot of photos and music.

As ever, thanks. I looked at the build you recommended and from that worked backwards... I'm angling for the i7 Black Pearl in a less stupid case. http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Liquid_i7_Black_Pearl/ Looking at this: [*]CPU: Intel

I've read that an i5 processor is better for gaming that i7, and that the threading feature on new i7 chips is extraneous for gaming. Thoughts?

I appreciate the sentiment but I cannot adequately express the sense of terror buidling my own system creates in my techno-retard brain.

I have a nice but nothing special Samsung monitor. I'll keep it, but want a new 23" one. I have little or no interest in 3D and no, the rig won't be linked to a TV. I want the machine to be overclocked, the Alienware option appears to be medicore in that respect. Edit: Oh, and I want the machine to look nice. Seriously, this lives on the ground floor of the Schloss Monte, in full view. It's like a piece of furniture and I like design. It's one of the reasons I love Alienware.

I have a Chillblast gaming rig, Rampage Formula motherboard, with: 2 Quad CPU Q9450 @ 2.66 GHz Windows Vista (Home Premium) 32 bit Os and 4.00 GB RAM GeForce GTX 260 It's overclocked. Been a great computer, like I say I've had it for four years and now I'll probably use it as a spare machine in my home office. Oh, and Chillblast have been on the up since I last used them... they are now pretty expensive too. To be honest, a nice computer is one of those luxuries I can afford, I'd rather run a crappy car (which I do) than have a crappy rig.

And lastly... the Alienware Aurora is a tad cheaper and I love the look of it (this will live in a part of my house where it will be seen). However, the out of the box version appears to be underpowered. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1410/pg15/alienware-aurora-r4-gaming-desktop-review-conclusion.html Looking at the upgrade page at Dell, what should I be looking at to make this four year future-proof? http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=d00amw01&c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&model_id=alienware-aurora-r4 Again, I genuinely appreciate any advice.

Hmmm, I'm going to have to up the budget, but then again I'm realistically going to get five years out of this... http://computers.top...arl-review.html Any thoughts, it consistently scores well in reviews and they are available in the UK. Edit: Which processor? i7 3930K or 3960X ? I know the latter is more expensive but do I realistically need it?

What do we think of Cyberpower? They certainly talk a good job.
