  1. Want to hear a funny story? I got the Whowzawhoopwhoop version of PoE and you get things like strategy guides as such (all as digital, nothing physical) - one of the things you get is a movie of how the game came to be - very cool and interesting, but you can also watch it on Youtube. Anyway, I thought I'd make some space on my hard drive by deleting some of this stuff - guess what happens if you do a file check on steam? Yep, it downloads the movie and all the other guff. lol.
  2. Sorry for necro. I'm going to bump this because it's got relevant info and I wanted to put this with it: Topics and ID guids - Animal Cruelty - 2a640694-a441-456c-94f6-043d101e35da - Anti-Eothas - 6eb833fc-5384-4081-a4b4-4dd14b583f3c - Anti-Eothasians - 2f84723b-2330-4248-a199-cde68fe4a005 - Anti-Gods - 51f0db73-b83e-4906-a47d-b5fb2f25f27d - Anti-Huana - 17d45c71-050f-463c-8719-2b0521e3cf66 - Anti-Leaden Key - 54839ad8-07dd-454a-9627-69e663201577 - Anti-Principi - 4fdfbc01-836a-44bd-83fe-23e1ea1e61ab - Anti-Tradition - da1ce81d-84f9-4c42-aa2e-e3879931a701 - Irresponsibility - 01eb0042-4ad6-44eb-9e0b-bcb5ac91aefe - Kind to Animals - 60a2b7d7-e104-4f5a-aa7a-8d373451a528 - Pro-Animancy - f58540b7-693b-4207-b485-45319cbf53f7 - Pro-Autonomy - 3d28fa9d-5127-4b6a-af14-9c4769f17720 - Pro-Deceit - c1ba1910-2eb9-447c-924d-2875f1ecf213 - Pro-Duty - cffd489b-6876-4b90-9aa1-6f5e11c532fd - Pro-Eothas - 71a22893-ede8-4b96-a666-a2450c767972 - Pro-Eothasians - 9ef259f0-29c7-4862-a5ff-e148188e3f48 - Pro-Godlike - b8cf62cc-7d93-48c2-b037-c7dcb54c80aa - Pro-Gods - 94f2f608-a765-4e55-be0a-c3dddaa54d47 - Pro-Huana - b8268766-97d8-43ee-ad57-d4a9d360d0b0 - Pro-Humor - f03d4876-6981-4b74-bf24-1041a5f3a101 - Pro-Immodesty - f4414487-469a-4897-81b8-fc4adf14601d - Pro-Leaden Key - 841c7801-3f8a-4190-ba5d-abc5375f415e - Pro-Passion - 7f7df525-10a2-444f-a953-13d441552865 - Pro-Provincial - 890fe263-b36c-471d-8db4-8916a4589caa - Pro-Rauatai - bfef19bb-244b-4af0-be4a-90ac83d7e314 - Pro-Resourcefulness - ef160fcc-3201-41ce-add0-408772b5ccd9 - Pro-Stewardship - 62b80708-269f-4bc6-a737-5f328db35370 - Pro-Tradition - e79eabe7-8d68-4cf4-9a07-3e84b154d6ec - Pro-Vailian_Republics - 9d899ba7-69dc-4a2f-b811-4a1268269888 - Pro-Worldly - 9603686d-ed03-4ddf-8ceb-c4850bed75ac - Racism - e11564db-42ba-44ba-a0db-535d7daf1790 Weight of Opinion Weak = c131acce-6af4-4d78-b0e2-48b26e6631b1 = 1 changeStrength Strong = d8cd9f8e-5be6-4036-a8cb-48afbd7edc54 = 2 changeStrength Reading the Wiki, it seems that topics are given a "Value" in their TopicGameData type. This is likely a bodge used to balance the occurances of conversations about each topic. relationship change = (changeStrength * topicValue) * weight So I suppose it's possible to make someone have NO opinion change on a particular topic by making a new weight with zero points in it and assigning that to the response instead of the default one. How would you deal with this in terms of ChangeStrengthID? I don't know how those work. I know they are (random?) text strings - strong pos/weak pos/strong neg/weak neg. How else can you explain "Pro-Immodesty" as a topic - it just doesn't seem to be the first topic to spring to mind!) You can give even (for example) sourpuss Pallegina an appreciation of joviality: and... whatever Worldly is:
  3. Perfect, this completely clears this up for me. I'll see what I can do about tweaking my mod to adjust the existing loot lists, because just overwriting the original one is bad for compatibility. Thank you very much BMac Ah... seems I can't substitute the LootList for the container in the first post. That's a shame. I'll have to be the overwriting method, after all.
  4. I was thinking it might be fun to add the companion/sidekick personalities to the player-made character options. Would I be right in thinking that personalities are just handled by a single guid? "$type": "Game.GameData.PersonalityGameData, Assembly-CSharp", in the characters.GameDataBundle? I can't find these in the other GameData files. would I be correct in assuming it would take a change to the assembly C dll ?
  5. Thank you very much for this. I've been putting items in existing lootlists by just putting one item under the existing header - is that possible, or does it overwrite the existing lootlist with mine? I'm rather confused how this "put what you want to change in the mod" thing works because ... how can you remove things from an existing list? So my guess is that I overwrite the whole of whatever currently exists with whatever I put in brackets? But that can't be true either ... my mind is tying itself in knots.
  6. I watched the "Road to Eternity" documentary... ...You're welcome. I had a go at yours, @cherryflavoredfunk
  7. Hello there! It's two years in the future here, how's thing way back when? Thanks for this info. I wanted to ask some advice - I'm trying to add something to the starting cupboard. I've identified it as : 546e5d97-c234-46dc-9439-b23aafc02198 ... and the thing I want to add is my custom item, so that guid goes into a custom LL (LootList) with just one item in it. I only want the item to appear in the cupboard once, so I did this; "RunOnlyOnce": "true", "SucceedOnlyOnce": "true", and I put the lootlist GUID into the CGenerateLootListInto value What makes the MoScriptHook get run by the game? Does it go in a special folder?
  8. Thank you very much for this. I've no idea what that Sprite Packer does that's special, but it fixed my problem WoohoO!
  9. Thanks doubly. This is the result of your encouraging words! As you can see, it's nearly there. I just need to figure out how to solve this weird quirk. Look at that - "No uses left", so I changed the number of uses to 10, then it says hey there's 10 uses but there's still no uses left. Haha! I'm guessing that the SCROLL has 10 uses, but the Ability(?) has none? It turns out, you need to also make a custom ability (I don't get why, but I'll go with it). Here is my test character hitting three of the Pirates at the start of the game with Citzal's spirit lance conjured from the scroll. Thank you so much for your help, Grape_You_In_The_Mouth. Sometimes people just need to be prodded.
  10. Meh, I wanted to try to make a Citzal Spirit Lance scroll/item, but it seems to be beating me. There are so many interconnecting pieces >< which do I need and which don't I need? I've tried copying a scroll of Firebrand but ... Item -> Ability -> Attack -> What's all that keyword stuff in the Attack section? I did a text compare between the Melee Attack for Firebrand and the Melee Attack for Firebrand Scroll version. The differences were; a thing that only appears in scrolls, so I guess that's a scroll signifier keyword, and, a thing that points to uni_ReadScroll_99 for scroll version OR Spell_General_Target_50 for non-scroll version. That's when I was completely lost. What are those? Which do I need (I'm guessing the scroll version - is it an animation thing?). Why can't I just point the item at the spell?
  11. I'd love this, but to what tutorial are you referring, please? [edit] nm, I found this: https://zilbest.com/tutorials/deadfire-modding-tutorial/ I'm just using VS code as a text editor at the moment and Notepad++ does a better job of that because I know how to change the language. [edit] your post has a LOT of great info packed into it. Thanks for taking the time.
  12. I'd pump the contrast up a bit for my own tastes, but it does look great. Good job!
  13. I struggled with this one, too. My technique doesn't seem to work too well with it. This one seems a bit better, though.
  14. Are these useful? I know they aren't perfect, but they might be passable.. I also wondered what Eder would look like with this technique...
  15. Is there a repository of images where we can say FOR SURE - "all these artists are happy for us to use their artwork for whatever"? If not, the next best thing is trawling through copyright documents for decades and that, to me, is unreasonable. If artists provide their work, I'm going to make assumptions. ... and it's not as if your own output isn't valid art, too. There's no such thing as creativity, after all.
  16. Well, I only wanted to add a background, but I ended up with this... I really should concentrate on making them fit the templates because they don't look as good in the game as I thought they would. My bad. ...
  17. Will this do? For the watercolour, my process has become: (I used other people's tutorials to formulate this method, and much of the credit should be theirs. We stand on the shoulder of giants). Duplicate the original image in a new layer. Make the first layer invisible using that little eye icon on the layer. Select around the image, cutting off the background - there are lots of tricks to this, one of my favourites is Select Colour Range. Cut image out. Make a new image twice or four times (for this one) as big and paste your image in. Stretch your image to fit in it (edit -> transform -> scale). You know how maths works, it's best to use the numbers instead of manually stretching it. <This is where to try maybe doing a watercolour effect if you want to change it from another art style> Filter -> Artistic -> Poster Edges - the second setting is always 1, but the other two can vary. Copy all and paste it into the original image, shrinking it to 50% or 25% to undo your stretch (edit -> transform -> scale). Copy and Paste the parchment background from it's file, and put it behind the image (layers order). Click back to the main image. Image -> Adjustment -> Photo Filter -> Cooling Filter 80 -> 25%. Image -> Adjustment -> Exposure -> Exposure 1.5 (this can vary a lot) Layer -> Layer Style -> Blending Options -> Blend Mode -> Multiply. For this image I blurred the background; Once I've cut the background from around the man's head and shoulders, I selected the area that I cropped off, then selected the original image layer, and did a Filter -> Gaussian Blur (it only blurs what I've selected).
  18. Is this ok? It was bugging me, so I did another with a quadruple sized image instead of double - and I didn't mess about putting 20% of the original face behind this one.
  19. I hit upon a way to make Poster Edges look better: double the image size before doing it. Then halve the image size afterwards. Sounds mad, but imho looks good.
