  1. Alec Meer (who wrote the preview for Eurogamer) is known for not doing what the rest of the gaming press is guilty of, namely having never mentioning a bad thing in a preview. From what I understand RPS (whom Alec is part of) are known to be supporters of Obsidian so it is not the case of someone writing a preview of a game the don't understand. Personally I think most of the article is positive and I do agree with the negatives. The game doesn't look good, it just doesn't. Now graphics in an RPG aren't very important to me, but this is the generally accepted truth.
  2. Funny, to me it sounds horrible.
  3. I never recalled having problems with any part of NWN2 so I really dont know what your problem is.
  4. Unless you are chronically grumpy then The witcher, Mass Effect and Fallout 3 are all good games that are worth playing.
  5. I dunno. It's okay, but I still think that Mechwarrior 3 has the better Die Clanner! There was alot of years between mech 2 and 3 and at the time the intro to 2 was amazing.
  6. The information from the quotes makes me very hopeful indeed.
  7. Anything rogue-like with hide in plain sight is pure cheese. Also the epic feat that allows you to sneak attack any kind of opponent really helps rogue builds.
  8. Has Carmack decided to stop developing and go full time Rocket Scientist?
  9. Then again playing evil is overrated. I am much more interested in being able to play a character that is neither sitting on his high horse or eating babies for breakfast. And preferably without being punished for my insolence by silly game mechanics that force moral behavior through design.
  10. AP is probably going to be the game I will enjoy most but lets not kid ourselves. Splinter Cell will sell millions of copies, AP probably wont.
  11. Or you just buy it on pc...
  12. Twilight princess is good if you like Zelda, although in my opinion it is a little to Japanese (weird in places). But personally I think that the only "must have" game for the entire console is Mario Galaxy. Okami is supposedly good but from what I have heard the PS2 version is better.
  13. My point is that the weakness of the meta-studies is that they allow the poorly conducted studies to affect the results (hence why you have meta studies showing efficacy of acupuncture treatments on all kinds of illnesses. But if you only consider the well thought out, double blinded studies then the effect goes away). Instead one should look at the methodology of the studies and select the ones that are the best. Granted one could do a meta study of just those, the very best, studies. But like I said in my previous post, most scientists seem to prefer large amounts of data over correct data. And once again I know next to nothing about the studies you are refering to so there is no reason to make any links. I am merely debating the merit of meta-studies.
  14. The difference being? Saying its never ok to kill is naive. Given the right (or wrong) circumstances, killing can be a moral obligation.
  15. Hearing filthy words will surely make murderers out of the children!
  16. And as we all know meta-studies are generally rubbish. Unless you are very careful in your selection of studies to ensure that only high quality studies are included (which usually is not the case since most people making meta studies want as much data in there as possible). For example most meta-studies of acupuncture are deeply flawed by including a large number of chinese studies (where most acupuncture research happens, and this is mostly bad research). Now I dont have enough information about video game studies to draw the same conclusion as for acupuncture but its just something to keep in mind. Instead of meta-studies it is generally better to take a look at the results from the best performed and controlled studies with the largest sample sizes and see if there still is any effect to speak of. *edit* Just to be clear, I just wanted to add that I think what you are saying might very well be true, I am only arguing against meta-studies.
  17. After watching 10 minutes of the video from the japanese demo I once again realized that this game really isnt going to be for me.
  18. This is of course wonderful news, I can hardly wait. Best of luck to the team and I hope you get the resources and time you need to make a great game
  19. It took pretty long but that seems broken to me.
  20. The campaign AI is horrendous as usual. I just wish there would be a single release of a TW game that was actually fun on release and that didnt need to be fixed by the players. From what I have heard, the americas is the only way of meeting an aggressive AI as apparently the natives are quite numerous.
  21. Be glad you stopped there. Inferno is marginally interesting but as of Purgatoria and onwards it becomes a complete snooze fest.
  22. I know what you mean but I think that GFW Radio proved that you can make an amazing podcast with little to no preparation.
  23. I really, really loathe Divina Commedia (probably because I was stuck dissecting Inferno for half a year in school) but I really don't see how this could be fair to the original work. The people who actually know enough to recognize the book will probably think it is beyond silly to play a magically powered Dante slashing his way through hell.
