  1. 3 Women (1977). Is there such a thing as "discomfort horror"? That's what this film is. Extremely slow, very meandering, mildly to moderately discomforting almost the whole way through, but somehow pretty darned good. I adored Shelley Duvall from what I saw of her in that one Stanley Kubrick film whose name I should know and could easily look up and which is very famous but which I have now spent a minute thinking about and can't for the life of me remember - it's the Shining, I finally just remembered right as I was just about to say screw it - but anyways, the weird role/sympathies reversals with her and the Carrie girl were incredibly discomforting, though she was brilliant and charming in her way all the way through even so. Also, the ending? Big yikes to that in so many different ways. Good movie.
  2. ...You have a SATA2 SSD? Just how old is that thing, and what did you pay for it at the time for its capacity?
  3. How many Golden Age stars are left, I wonder?
  4. I don't remember - does the Steam Controller have timing-based multi-input? e.g. if you hold down, say, left trigger for between 0.01-0.50 seconds, it'll execute one function, while if you hold down for anything past 0.5 (or some other arbitrary range), it'll do a different function? I use that with a program called Xpadder to multibind certain miscellaneous functions in games, and find that it works pretty well - IIRC, Steam Controller has modifiers (holding down one button changes the functions of others) to do a similar sort of thing, but there are different use cases.
  5. I was just looking and noticed it was disappointingly made by him. I thought that was a weird and somewhat out-of-place scene, too - should've happened later when she was really starting to be out of her mind, not when she was just in the beginning stages of suspecting them.
  6. I liked the Steam Controller a lot, except for the fact that I have smaller than average hands and the ergonomics of it are extremely off as a result, and unfortunately it becomes very painful within maybe ten minutes to keep using for my chronically pained hands. Alas.
  7. Rosemary's Baby (1968). I can see why it's considered a classic, lovely film. Just a touch of an underwhelming ending, but besides that, great, especially for 1968 - the way the few action sequences were shot so quickly and precisely while the dialogue between different characters flowed together so well and realistically was very unlike a 1968 movie, and in the latter case, better than many movies today.
  8. Yikes, . I also liked The Witch a little more as well. Some of those long takes of Dafoe's brilliant ranting and ravings were just nuts, though. I haven't seen too many of Dafoe's films, but the few I've seen (this, The Florida Project, and...something else I'm forgetting the title of), he's just been awesome.
  9. The Lighthouse (2019). I didn't realize it was the same director as The Witch until I saw this poster after I'd already seen it. Makes a lot more sense. Really good, although perhaps a bit too insane for my tastes. @LadyCrimson For some reason, I remember that the lead actress of that movie's name is "Imogen Poots", which still makes me laugh because I'm twelve.
  10. My next door neighbor is the chief of police for my podunk town. His garbage can falls over literally once or twice every week and spills garbage all over, and he has to clean it up constantly, but he does nothing to prevent the situation from happening again. This has been going on for several years. From this, I can only conclude that he is an absolute brute and I should watch myself or face the consequences.
  11. One of my favorite Dark Souls experiences was NG+ at SL1 fighting Capra Demon, in a tiny arena where when you walk in, the camera is already getting stuck behind trees and branches and crap that were put way too low for no reason, where you basically can't turn the camera because the arena is too small and just drags against the walls, you're immediately attacked as you're walking in, and for some godforsaken reason they stuck a couple of random dogs in this miniature arena whose reactions and movesets are super random, and you die in one hit to anything. That was super fun. ...Wait, hold on a second: when I said "favorite" and "super fun", I actually meant "least favorite" and "super unfun". Whoops. I asked about the DLC because I absolutely despise the DS2 DLC, I found it to be the absolute worst, most pointlessly torturous and annoying stuff in the entire series, but some people claim it's the best. I think it must depend on how much you hate yourself, and it's just a bridge too far for me.
  12. Hmm, can't say I agree with any of your choices...except for maybe Covetous Demon being the easiest (or among them - I'd put Last Giant, Flexile Sentry, Old Iron King, and The Rotten all around the same difficulty). The beauty of different playstyles and players having their own strengths and weaknesses! From what I recall, Vendrick, the Pursuer, and maybe Darklurker were among my favorites, and I'd probably put The Pursuer on top for best emblifying a simple, but well-designed and classic Dark Souls boss experience. Least favorite would go to Ancient Dragon, who's just so dumb. Did you finish the three DLCs? Don't recall you ever showing boss battles from them.
  13. What were your hardest, easiest, favorite, and least favorite bosses?
  14. They've committed to using the same colors with whatever new name they choose, I think. Of course, they could always change their minds, but it seems like the plan is to at least keep that to avoid upsetting people too much.
  15. The calls for changing the Redskins' name have going on for a long time. Why am I not surprised that the moment corporate sponsorships start pulling out over it, all that crap about "history" and "heritage" that the owner was screaming about for years suddenly doesn't matter, and then on top of that, the team never even bothered to come up with a contingency plan in the event they were forced to change the name? A decade-plus being able to plan for this, and they squandered it. I guess this is the NFL, the league that just barely scraped past coronavirus without incident and then had like 5 months to plan protocols and decided to wait until the very last second to start taking it seriously. Personally, I'm of the silent minority that doesn't care either way (the term "Redskins" has a complicated past where it has been both used as a rallying cry for Native Americans as well as a dirty word used by those who slaughtered them, and the support for/against it being used has had wacky numbers ranging from a strong net support to a mild net support), but at least it'll finally be done so people can stop talking about it in 5-10 years after the name has all but faded from memory.
  16. The Exterminating Angel (1962). Well...uh, that was strange and different. I liked Viridiana from this director a lot more, but that makes sense, since that was more of a straightforward film that had a strong lead with undertones of social commentary rather than a total troll that's 100% social commentary using an ensemble cast.
  17. I occasionally buy and rip audio CDs, so you're definitely not the only one. My next build won't have one with the case that I have for it (Fractal Design Meshify C), but I'll be keeping around my old system for HTPC purposes and will continue to rip CDs on there.
  18. The amount of times I heard it mentioned in dead serious tones to me by some of the more conservative people I know certainly suggests that crap was taken seriously by at least a small subsection of conservatives. Claims of martial law being used to cancel the elections and whatnot...
  19. Looks like the CFL is going bankrupt as well, .
  20. Could've fooled me - he looked slow and completely ineffectual, and didn't land a single hit, .
  21. Clarification: are we mass murdering Nazis, or mass-murdering Nazis? I'm cool with either way, I just want to make sure I wear my fascist/anti-fascist outfit appropriately.
