  1. Saw the opposite described: in the first encounter, he was being chased and attacked before shooting in self-defense (after which he said "I just killed someone" in a 9/11 call), and then there was a second encounter (the video that I saw) where he shot at several people that were trying to lynch him. I'd be more than happy to be corrected, but it's literally what I'm reading right now in the wikipedia article. Unknown is the exact reason why they were chasing him in the first encounter - that is seemingly not described anywhere, and depending on how that came to be might change my opinion. Did he raise and point his gun at somebody, or did they just rush him because he was clearly not with them and open-carrying a rifle in a riot, or something else? As distasteful and stupid as I find open-carrying a rifle to be (especially in the middle of a riot), I would not consider it to be a clear and present threat to anyone else that would require attempting to attack and disarm him (most likely the minimum of what they intended to do to him in the first encounter - after the first shooting, of course, they seemed to be clearly out for blood). Regarding favoritism: I am absolutely of the opinion that there's an issue of institutional racism and favoritism, buuuuut...that has nothing to do with the micro-details of this particular case and whether he should be convicted or acquitted.
  2. Bucks didn't get swept, although it was awfully close, but they're doomed anyways. Every full Denver game I've watched, Denver loses. I should probably stop watching Denver games for Shady's sake.
  3. Is that the same incident I described here: ...or did he do it again?
  4. I never did get around to reading the whole story on this one, but I did see the video where he was almost lynched and wondered how the hell they all got to that point. Reading at least the wikipedia series of events, I probably wouldn't convict him, either. Horrible spat of violence made possible by a whole bunch of people (including him) making unwise decisions, certainly, but by all accounts, the entire thing started with somebody else firing a gun randomly and him getting bum-rushed by a load of people who assumed it was him, and him acting in self-defense in a kill-or-be-killed situation. Regardless of the legality of his age or why or how he got there, you don't deserve to be murdered for not threatening anyone. Unless there's something we don't yet know, doing otherwise would just be victim-blaming.
  5. how have you not gotten bored of this mediocre game smh, move on to DS3 or DeS or something already!
  6. Ah, but you see, Romney isn't unilaterally loyal to Trump in every aspect of his life both personal and political. I would not be particularly surprised to hear that this would necessitate Romney also being an extreme leftist that is a part of the mercurial "forces of chaos", too...especially given how frequently Biden himself is labeled as a "radical leftist" (lmao, radical leftists wish!) by the same sort of partisan hacks.
  7. @Gfted1 IIRC, fried oil does tend to clog and ultimately destroy your drains/pipes, so that was a heads-up move. Yeah, there's definitely a bit of a learning curve, haha. We have what's called a "smelt run" every spring, where a ridiculous amount of smelt fish reproduce quickly and there's a big event to capture them and eat them (especially as they're an invasive species). Apparently, even for as crazy as it is now, it was apparently utterly ludicrous back in the 70s when the smelts were at their peak, and apparently that's why it's such a big annual event. Their numbers have greatly declined since then due to other species having adjusted to their presence, I guess...and I'm sure the massive amount of fishing hasn't helped either, . Anyways, love to fry up a pile of those every spring, always extremely tasty.
  8. Fryers are great fun. Except for the mess. That's not so great.
  9. Bucks are done. There's no way they're climbing out of a 3-0 hole.
  10. The people with over-the-top hardware are the ones that usually advertise it the most, and...water is wet, . I'm continuing to run an older i7-4770k and am perfectly happy with a mid-end 1060...although I have 32GB of RAM because I'm a memory hog, so there is that at least.
  11. Real talk: have to imagine that Denver is tired as *hell* after that series. Crazy close series. (e): Yep: https://streamable.com/4wgy9n
  12. If past nvidia releases are anything to go by, the 3090s will probably be out of stock long enough that you'll get news on the AMD series in a couple of months before you have a realistic shot of buying them.
  13. @KaineParker Yeah, just to be clear, there is absolutely a good chance Biden doesn't win. That's not in any way guaranteed. The problem is the writer is a blatant hack. "NATE SILVER TWITTER MELTDOWN", "Nate Silver predicted Hillary would win!", "Nate Silver points out obvious criticisms with trash reporting and is therefore a hack", etc. Who do you think you're convincing (besides other already "very good"-brained people) when you write ridiculous tabloid-esque garbage like this in the face of all evidence and reason? Out of serious poll aggregators, 538 was the only one that gave Trump a chance (~30%, IIRC) and cautioned Democrats against presumptuously declaring victory - I literally remember looking at their model and them saying the exact thing that happened (that he'd be very unlikely to win the popular vote, but that there was nevertheless a realistic chance of a few close Trump victories in key swing states that would give him an electoral vote victory) could very well happen before it ever did. 30% is the equivalent of rolling a 1D10 and getting a 1, 2, or 3. Anyone who's ever rolled a die at any point in their life (or has even the most rudimentary understanding of statistics...which I guess is not nearly everyone these days) should know that that is not very unlikely at all.
  14. What kind of dip****s write this trash? Glad to have anti-javascript and adblock always enabled, at least.
  15. Paradox games like EU4 do the same to make sure achievements aren't cheated. ...Of course, you can literally just use a Steam achievement manager if you really wanted to. And you can just Cheat Engine yourself infinite gold...not really sure what the point of it is - now that I think of it, maybe it's more of a multiplayer integrity feature than anything to do with singleplayer, that'd make a lot more sense.
  16. Admittedly, they haven't won the series yet, but they did dig themselves out of the 3-1 hole. Whether they'll finish the job is another matter, .
  17. Shady, would it be possible for you to please say "the Bucks have no chance against the Heat, and Giannis is guaranteed to leave the Bucks after next season"?
  18. And as @KaineParker pointed out, it is rather incongruous how it's perfectly well and good to wholly generalize certain groups...say, the protestors...while saying or suggesting it would be totally wrong to do the same to others...say, cops. The reverse situation, of course, happens elsewhere with people on the opposite extreme of things, but given that hardly any (none?) of us are saying "ALL COPS ARE PIGS" or anything of the like, but rather making more pointed criticisms of police as a flawed institution (criticisms that have long been known to and held by many), it seems weird to use us as your sounding board on the radical evils of protestors. Has anybody here extolled the virtues of the protestors/rioters that have gone too far and murdered anyone or razed anything (or attempted to)? Maybe somebody did and I don't remember. Don't think anybody here has even gone so far as to say "defund the police" or anything of the like, either.
  19. Ended up asking on some private moviegoer forums what the best option for my movie poster was, which I guess was probably the logical idea to begin with - apparently, high quality frames that have very limited chance of degrading or damaging the poster over time and that will also properly protect the poster from e.g. UV damage or acidic corrosion without also making it look like crap will run more in the $100-150 range. About as expensive as the poster itself was. This is a bit more of an expensive poster project than I bargained for. Oh well, I guess you can't put a price on staying quality!
  20. The frequent lack of accountability and proportional consequences for blatant bad actions taken by 'bad apples' probably doesn't do any favors for moderating their dispositions or encouraging patience and understanding either, I'm sure. I posted a Twitter image a while back whose content was essentially, "Why are store clerks better at de-escalating situations than cops?", to which the top reply was, "Because we get fired if we don't."
  21. I'm the opposite: eat a good breakfast, eat small the rest of the day. Much easier than the other way around - once you've had your big meal of the day, the rest is so much easier to manage (and it's not nearly as big of a deal if you have to skip something later, whereas if you had a small breakfast, eating a small lunch or skipping it really sucks).
  22. @Gromnir You mentioned the "3 seats flipping to impeach" thing before. I don't remember exactly how this works - it's the House doing what's technically the impeachment (basically laying charges against) which is simple majority, then the Senate votes to convict...but that's 2/3rds majority, isn't it? Or is it only 2/3rd majority to remove the president (as opposed to some other form of punishment)?
