RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS!
Oooh, decided to pick up the Icewind Dale series. For some reason back in the day I never grabbed those, so it will be a fresh experience for me. Should tide me over a bit with the Eternity excitement. You're in for a real treat!

Well, this depends entirely on how it would make sense in the story...

I think that nudity can be entirely justified if we're talking about a succubus, siren, nymph or some other fantastical, supernatural creature meant to seduce people in the game world. I don't know about other countries, but at least in Sweden there are male counterparts of "naked woodland nymphs" in traditional folklore, so there aren't necessarily any problems on that (feminist) front. Silly armour for female characters, or unrealistic sexist portrayal of female characters in general, is one of the most immersion- breaking things in a game that I know of. I can't stress enough how much I want Obsidian to avoid these stereotypes. Also, I would personally like to avoid having any female NPCs who are physical (strength- based) fighters. Arcanum did very well in the area of having realistic NPCs of both genders. I don't want to limit the character creation system much (if at all), since women fighting (physically) against men on equal terms DO exist, however it would be very silly if female soldiers are just as common as male soldiers. This is the essence of making a truly "mature" game world in my opinion - I want to play in a world which makes sense, not some 12 year old boy's sexual fantasy. Yes, male characters are also stereotypes, but it makes much more sense that a travelling adventurer/mercenary should be strong and physically fit, than it does for a female mercenary to be very slim, busty and good-looking (assuming she gets paid to fight, that is). Good looks won't help you in combat in any way.

Also, Feargus on different settings in new games (from here: http://forums.obsidi...p-ten-obsidian/): Another thing against the 40K theory is of course the upcoming 40K: Dark Millenium game. Bard's Tale 4 is still the most likely candidate for Project X if we take only existing IPs in mind... Also, post-apoc fantasy? Sounds intriguing. The Dark Sun games are from way back and I don't think we've seen anything similar since. Keeping in mind the Germanic influences however, I think we're talking more post-Ragnar

Stop giving me hope! Was thinking along similar lines when the "200 years ago" was mentioned (the duration of the Great Crusade at the time of the heresy) and Lorgar and Magnus both being fascinated with books. That would be a VERY interesting theory. A WH40K RPG would also probably cash in on Kickstarter like crazy... But I have the feeling that's not it. If it would be, then maybe it's Project Vermont being kickstarted? Still, I don't think so. Also, their Kickstarter profile reads "Prior to Obsidian, each of the owners worked for Black Isle Studios as production, design, management, and programming staff, having worked on the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment series. We loved working on those games, and feel there's a real nostalgia for them, and we're looking to you for help to bring them back!" If that's to be taken literally, and the hidden word in the source code is "INFINITY" (although "ETERNITY" is more probable) maybe we're looking at EEs of those games? I can't say for sure but I don't think there's any chance of a completely new game using the Infinity engine, modded or vanilla. That would of course be killer, for sure... At the moment, I still think that what we're looking at is a completely new IP heavily influenced by Germanic folklore. Likely, Sawyer has been working it for some time (from what we know through twitter and interviews with other Obsidian employees), at least since earlier this year, or since the shelving of Project North Carolina. Maybe this new IP will incorporate some elements from past cancelled projects, although I think it's likely that most of it is new. The very fact that it's being Kickstarted speaks against the involvement of any already existing IP that Obsidian does not already own themselves (EDIT: Or, of course, that InXile owns...). Sawyer's recent post on "world building" also reinforces the theory of a new IP.

A quick search for "eternity RPG" yielded this: http://www.magpiegam...m/eternity-rpg/ Also, read Sawyer's tweet about filming. We got us a Kickstarter! Save up your money...

(3) The book unread is unwritten.
It's interesting how men don't mind playing female characters in games, but women more generally stick to female characters. At the moment, I personally find it more likely that Project X some new IP, maybe also a Kickstarter project. Hey guys, what if the Ouroboros stands for infinity - could it not also stand for THE INFINITY ENGINE? A newly developed, kickstarted IE game would definitely get my full financial backing. Or maybe we should be thinking more along the lines of IWD:EE?

(4) What do the words mean?
Maybe it hasn't got any project name because development hasn't started yet, because it's a kickstarted game...

(4) What do the words mean?
I'm thinking it's Virginia or North Carolina since they've deliberately kept the "state project name" secret. Since we don't yet know anything about Rhode Island, it wouldn't make sense to do so in that case... And yes, project NC was of course cancelled, but since it was so recently, I guess it could have been picked up by somebody else...

Delaware - Knights of the Old Republic 2 Pennsylvania - Neverwinter Nights 2 New Jersey - Known as Seven Dwarves while in development, it was something Brian Mitsoda helped develop before it was cancelled. Georgia - Alpha Protocol Connecticut - Aliens: Crucible, the first Onyx Engine title in development at Obsidian, it was a RPG set in the Alien universe directed by JE Sawyer. Massachusetts - Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer Maryland - Dungeon Siege 3 South Carolina - Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir New Hampshire - Fallout: New Vegas Virginia - Nothing much is known about this title other than it was a small internal project which was meant to be released in 2011. Could have been the XBLA game which was put on hold. Uses Onyx engine? New York - South Park: The Stick of Truth North Carolina - Latest major project directed by JE Sawyer, rumored to be a next-generation RPG funded by Microsoft (?), who eventually withdrew their support from the game. Rhode Island - ??? Vermont - Scifi RPG with a handful of designers/artists working under the direction of Jason Fader. Could have simply been a failed pitch. Developed in Unreal Engine 3. Sorted chronologically by start of development. Red titles are cancelled, yellow means status unknown. Thanks to Flouride and duckroll for earlier lists So this new Project X is either one of these projects, or a completely new one...

(4) What do the words mean?
So, is it Bard's Tale 4? Dungeon Siege 4? It's funny how they emphasize how they won't reveal the project codename. Maybe the '4' stands for that it's their fourth project? Maybe it all together means something about that they are working on the something they made 4 years age again?

The Dumb States of America
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19284017 - an interesting article about knowledge about wealth distribution. It turns out Americans have a very different view about wealth distribution in the US compared to the facts. It's not strictly American stupidity since they don't compare the US to other nations, but anyway...

Republican Candidates
Paul Ryan is not, in any way whatsoever, a fiscal conservative. Unless you consider reducing revenue by 4 trillion over 10 years to be fiscally conservative. Exactly my thoughts. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be any alternative for those who want a sane budget.
