  1. man has a point. +1 for this as well !
  2. Dang right, don't support the DRM folks...cause they feel they have a right to steal your money!!! It's been double sided though...at first they thought they had the RIGHT to install spyware on your machine without your consent...but got slapped around and now most at least alert you that you need to have an internet connection at least and ALERT YOU (which they didn't originally in many cases) that you are about to install something you didn't want or plan to during the installation. I hate theives who steal my personal information on what I game, when I game, and how I game with out regard that where I live we have rules in regards to RIGHT TO PRIVACY. Though I have to say, originally when games first came out with steam it irked me on that I'd buy a disk...but then the game wasn't on the disk. It only had a STEAM link on the disk to download steam and then the game itself...which made me go...WTH...why did I even try to buy a hardcopy if there's no hardcopy here!!!!???? That actually felt a little more like stealing directly through deciet to me than anything a pirate ever did to me. Game Producers, 50% of the big ones are thieves, liars, and evil to the core. So...I still support them (like Ubi) by not buying their games on PC but buying it on console. Probably people like me doing the same thing are the reason PC sales are less then half of what they were 5 years ago (most say even less then that by a far amount), but booming on consoles. Yeah...I hate thieves...but many of the Game producers are more akin to thieves than the pirates in my book these days...but luckily just like you learn to lock your car...I've learned how to prevent them from stealing my information by avoiding their games and not letting them install their spyware on my PC if I don't want them to know that specific type of information. But this isn't scum and thieves overall...but about piracy. If they really want to fight piracy...DRM is about the stupidest thing they've ever created...both singlehandedly killing PC sales whilst raising the number of pirates and piracy overall...double fail for DRM. On the bright side, Indie developers are once again having the biggest heyday since the late eighties and early 90s in both acclaim and sales. Amen to that!!!
  3. No it is absolutely not. Different people different opinion. By access to these different opinions a developer or publisher might develop in the future better strategy to offer their products and lower the piracy rate of their products... Everybody, including pirates, ARE potential customers. If you do not hear to both sides of barricade, you will end up like Ubisoft... Being the laugh-stock of the industry...
  4. Offer more convenient way how to obtain your product, than pirates Problem solved
  5. Nice one I especially love this quote The report argues that piracy is only a significant concern for "large foreign production companies," and that these large companies need to adapt to new consumer behavior rather than seeking further legislative changes. And, the report says, "fears that these changes have a negative impact on the Swiss cultural creativity are unfounded."
  6. I don't see how buying a second hand game is different from downloading it. only in the first case you actually pay money to the guy. I don't think it's possible to convince me second-hand sales are more "legal" than torrents Ebay has a large amount of stores that sell new games, actually. But second-hand games is a pretty different argument. It's legal, as Gamestop's entire business model is built around it, but I can definitely see the argument that it is bad for the game industry. Comparing it to a torrent, where hundreds if not thousands of people make use of one copy of a game is pretty laughable though. Sorry to burst your bubble, but lot of these new games on internet are just repacked used ones. With high enough quality manuals etc, so the customer does not spot the difference. Not to mention that there are many companies who are specialised in selling pressed copies of the games you have to pick the shop carefully or you end up with counterfeit...
  7. Two new updates on the case, from webpage, that I will not link here... If you care, you will find it Update: Pownews
  8. I have purchased 20+ games, which were recommended to by my friends with much lower income, who pirated the games and loved them... Piracy = advertisement for people who care... You are as much away from reality as some publishers...
  9. The same is always happening to me, whenever I hear fun and CoD:MW in a same sentence I feel like Different people different taste
  10. Lol he is mentioning region-locking as a bad strategy :D Funny to read this from a person behind STEAM :D
  11. +1
  12. Yup, ego plays big role in it as well, breaking their and Blizzards always on DRMs is pretty big boost to their egos for them...
  13. It's not just Vol, though
  14. You know, due to the most retarded DRM scheme ever, is now every group, their mothers and their dogs after Ubisoft. Getting their games cracked as first is now something like Platinum Trophy for the scene
  15. Is it just me, or does Volo have only template answers and he copy/paste them whenever is he around?
  16. Amen to that!
  17. Still would mean there are more people who pirated the game than bought it. And that's assuming that you guys are not just arguing semantics and both the pirates and pubs are complete retards who either keep hammering MP on a pirated copy or can't/won't differentiate between connection attempts from different sources. Nope they are not retards, but single persistant pirate with a keygen can hit servers over 100 times a day until he finds valid CD-Key...
  18. Wow... Just wow... A true example of masochism. Keep going, dont let others to turn you down FFXIII is the most controversial game of the series, many people hate it, many people love it I have Platinum, and I can say, I never felt pain while playing it Except while trying to kill Shao Long Guy :D Pretty badass optional creature. And no, I do not think the game is more than little above average, but I enjoyed most of the time i played it... Finished twice so far...
  19. This...
  20. Hmm FFVII with Crisis Core graphics on PC... mhmmmhm... That looks like another replay of the game
  21. Was 8 (or VIII or whatever) the one that had a demo PC version? I remember trying one of them and besides the instant turnoff that was the horrible control scheme, it had this emo kid with all attitude and no redeeming qualities that you wanted to put over your knee? Yes it was FFVIII. The control scheme was just fine, but you should have used gamepad not keyboard and mouse
  22. I finnished FF8 3 times and I still hate Squall I do not hate FF8 as a game, but I realy do not like it, and tbh half of the game seems to me as much linear as FF13 maybe even more... FF9 is king of the hill and if i could have one gaming wish to become true, it would be FFIX-2 for sure PS Oh yeah, and some fuel to the debate FFIX > FFX > FFX-2 > FFVII > FFXIII > FFV > FFIV > FFXII > FFVI > FFVIII > FFI > FFII never finished FFIII
  23. Or it could come up like a great Japanese action-RPG like the Tales series, or Radiata Stories, or Drakengard, or the Secret of Mana series. Yep, Japan isn't known for making Action-RPGs, you're totally right. your response is very non-sequitor... i was talking about taking the final fantasy series, and making it even more different from its golden age. i did not say "japan" makes bad action rpg's japan is not a developer. square enix is. square enix has been changing final fantasy for the last few games, and its clear they intend to continue changing it (which pisses off everyone who wants them to return to making games like 6-9). so, I'm not really sure what you were talking about also: From Software is Japanese, and Dark Souls was the second best action rpg of this year, so clearly being japanese has nothing to do with an inability to make action rpg's 10-13 is as much different from 7-9 as is different 7-9 from 1-3 or 4-6 for example... And that is one of the reasons why I like SE.... They are always changing and bringing new mechanics to their titles. That s what I like about their games. XIII was not the best FF game, but it was far from the worst... I enjoyed FFXIII 10x more than I enjoyed FFVIII for example... (Nothing beats FFIX though ) So I hope they will continue in this trend and we will see new FF games with new gameplay elements added with each new instalment... The last thing I want to see is going the EA or Activision way of having the same **** packed each year in different box... FFXIII-2 preordered the day, they announced Crystal Edition for Europe...
