  1. Hey, if the dagger doesn't appear in your inventory, how would one get it? I bought the game at launch so I believe i qualify for getting it. I have never been one to complain about excess advantages in a game
  2. Wait, this dagger just appears? I got the game at launch and I don't have it, what gives? It isn't awaiting download nor already downloaded for me. I love free stuff! I demand more free stuff!
  3. ok I have a question hopefully someone can answer, I was playing the Dwarf Noble quest and well I have a bunch of special items that i got for playing dragon age journeys, preordering the game etc and I was wondering if this happened to anyone else and if it did is there a way around losing my special stuff?
  4. I'm going to throw this post right in your face next time you accuse me of going off on a tangent about semantics, Grommy. The watermelon comparison is silly, even for you. Especially considering that if you want you can sample the fruit before buying it! So drop the "force" from the arguments. You are still left only with those two options. I was just following in on the idiocy of comparing a Broadway play to a videogame. You figure out the rest man, I don't share your enthusiasm for the absurd. Well you know, you could always research your purchase before buying it thus you aren't blind. You can look for reviews, or talk to people you know who have bought the game. You never need to buy blind there are always options. Once you have researched the game you can make an educated guess about if you would like it or not and then choose to spend your money on it or not. Buying blind is a foolish thing to do as all you need to be is a little patient, it isn't like video games are a necessity you can always choose to buy it another day.
  5. Because the sad reality is that there is a much higher chance of the silly action game making more money and selling more copies then Homeworld 3. Though at the same time i am only now starting to get into the Warhammer 40K universe so i would personally love to play a game in it. Though does it always have to be Space Marines and Orks?
  6. Well, to be a space marine he would have to worship the god emperor, I think he should be the wide eyed idealist whose spirit is crushed by the end of the movie and becomes the vicious fascist by the end of it. Basically have the ending sequence be an awards ceremony or something which symbolizes the end of his transition of kind hearted hero who only wanted to help his people into the dark killer who wants to purge the alien scum. I am tired of the cliche` of the hero needs to be the kind savior, lets see a movie where the main character starts likable and ends up the spawn of Satan who is willing to do horrible things to "save" humanity. Many people like the cold distant "bad ass" hero i mean look at the sales to games like Doom and Halo, the main characters have the personality and likability of coke cans yet people still love them. .....learn to love? Are we making a romantic comedy here? A few "logical" (in-setting logic) issues with that. You do not chose to become a space marine, you get picked after proving yourself worthy. You do not retire as a space marine, only in death does duty end. For most intents and purposes, space marines might as well have been aliens. IG might be a better choice for something where you want people to relate to characters and their situation. Doesn't mean that you can't feature the marines... or the titan legions or the adeptus mechanicus, or the adeptus sororitas or other armed forces. It just feels like it might be easier to sell the idea of one or more human protagonists. Like Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus in Rome Also one additonal thing, when you die your service doesn't always end. Sometimes they dump your dead self into a large mecha and you keep serving until that is blown up too. You know what they say, waste not want not.
  7. I think a realistic movie with the Space Marines could be nice. As long as you capture how they are basically a bunch of genetically altered fascists who want to purge all life that isn't human....or worship their god emperor. If they portray them as the stalwart defenders of truth and justice then yeah it will suck, lets have a movie where the main characters are just as evil as the threat to the galaxy....which should be the orks since they are hilarious!
  8. I do like what mkreku has to say about the weapon degradation but I would add that you should occasionally find high quality weapons in low level areas and low quality weapons in high level areas. I have always disliked the game mechanic that equipment slowly gets stronger along your journey, it never made any sense. The world shouldn't revolve around you and your abilities. I think that in the generic wasteland yeah we should find crappy equipment, but lets say in a locked vault, or an intact storage area there should always be higher quality things. Very organized armies or police groups should have above average quality equipment. Your average raiders would have mostly crappy stuff with a few good ones that their leaders would have. I do agree though that the repair skill should restore less then what it did in Fallout 3 though. You should have a weapon that you care about, one that you improve over the course of the game that you can modify and enhance if you choose to. You want to use an American assault rifle rather then a Chinese one? Well put the time and effort into it and it will be better, that kind of thing. You want to use that revolver well work with it and boom it is a useful weapon. Fallout 3 had too many useless weapons and that never should be the case with this kind of game.
  9. Well, i usually like low level campaigns when i role play. When my character gets god like i get tired of him, i mean there are so many gods to fight so it gets weird when you are constantly doing epic things. I really enjoy getting stronger facing realistic regular problems with maybe an epic fight in the end and not an epic fight every 20 minutes.
  10. I own it but never really played it much. I ended up being turned off by the fact that it is a high level campaign. I knew that coming into it but it always bugs me that when you are high level random thugs and animals end up being godlike for no seemingly good reason. I suppose i should pick it up again, i guess i will give it another shot, it just felt awkward that I had just managed to defeat the King of Shadows and his immortal litch followers and random wizard henchmen are kicking my ass.
  11. Well on the subject of gaining xp in the camp, I think it could be solved very easily. All you need is a gameplay mechanic that encourages you to take people out of camp. I remember playing a game whose name i forget that enabled characters to gain both XP and battle points or something. If they fought in the party they would be able to gain unique abilities that made them stronger and more capable, however when they weren't in the party they never gained those points. Therefore they would be at a similar level as your normally used characters but they wouldn't have the extra abilities and thus be less effective when it came to later fights. If Dragon Age used a similar method then players could choose to ignore certain characters but if one or two of their best people told the PC to "shove off" and you are stuck with some of the characters you didn't use before they aren't useless but at the same time they aren't as good as those who you used all the time. It would encourage players to give even lesser liked characters a chance on the battlefield if only to earn them some of their unique abilities as a safety net and also reduce reloads if their suped up characters left. As the player knows that with a little hard work and devotion even their in camp people could actually be of some use while not being a liability due to low level.
  12. I remember Rebellion, that game had good ideas but was painful to play, Galactic battlegrounds was fun if you were a really big fan of Age of Empires. Empire at War does surpass them both, but then again the bar set by those two wasn't set too high. Force Commander hardly set the bar very high either heh. A star wars game in the vein of Homeworld would be amazing though, not sure if i would like the idea of my Escort Carriers pumping out fighters like candy but I am sure i could forgive it :-P. Though a Homeworld 3 would be wonderful too.
  13. Now that isn't fair, i really enjoy Empire at War. The vanilla game is fun and with the inclusions of the many mods the game has lasting appeal. Now i will say that the Homeworld series is quite different, and it serves a different purpose. You cannot really compare the two they both play too differently even though they are both RTS games. Personally I mainly play homeworld for their campaigns i love the gameplay and development, Empire at war I find personally fun for the galactic skirmish mode where i can ignore the story and plot developments and just conquer the galaxy. They are both good games in my opinion but play differently.
  14. Ah i understand now, thank you for explaining. I would understand not dropping the marker when you feel you aren't ready for it, when i get the game i probably won't drop it for a while until i am more used to the game so i am not more of a hindrance then a help for people.
  15. hmm, so if i play mainly in soul form i can avoid the PVP part huh? Well that is interesting. Also i suppose i could be summoned to help someone which could also be fun. When you play it, do you often get invited by living people to help them in their level?
  16. This is one game that i thought that it wouldn't interest me but from what i have seen and heard i am quite interested. The on line component is a bit worrisome, I figure that it will either make the game amazing or extremely frustrating, i mean people randomly showing up in the already hard game to Player Kill me. Otherwise the game looks really interesting, i also love the idea of getting other players in ghost form to help you in difficult levels. I think i might abuse that feature, i mean it only costs you a percentage of souls, i can just do the level twice which will be easier then doing it once by myself. I have been thinking of getting a new console game, I have been mainly using my PS3 for DVDs so it will be nice to use it for gaming again.
  17. did you put IG88 in the battle or does he meet you there? I know that you need him for the battle.
  18. I had all of those games, ah good memories.....also tons of frustration but I love my rose colored glasses I used to know how to use dos, but it has been so long that i no longer am proficient. I would like to know how to use Dosbox however, as i have older games that i can no longer play, ah TIE Fighter, how i miss you. I am really looking forward to Dragon Age, I like the idea of having so many different origin stories to work with. I find that I usually get really sick and tired of the beginning parts of RPGs so being able to pick a different way to begin the game every once in a while should help break the monotony. Looks like they are more liberal with the blood then i would like but i can live with that in the end.
  19. Ah your not so old, i started with a Commodore 64 and an Atari 2600, Back in my day video games never ended, you completed the levels the game would just restart and randomize the 2 bit graphical enemies. Unlimited replay value and hundreds of hours of game play! Of course they generally sucked and you didn't want to keep playing
  20. Well the game hasn't come out yet, it is entirely possible that you aren't forced to sacrifice yourself for the greater good. It mentions that that is what good little Grey Wardens do, however it is possible that there are multiple endings, one where you sacrifice yourself, one where you become evil or something, one where you find a cure etc.
  21. Well she has to go to specific areas to save the world so you are escorting her to each place. You are the "leader" of the group but you are only going to the areas that you are told that she has to go to in order to achieve her destiny. She has something inside of her that if she goes to specific areas she can gain powers necessary to save the world. I won't say what has to be done since that would spoil the plot line. I actually really liked how they did it in FF6 where there was no definitive single protagonist. I have no problem with being a gray warden, as you can see from my posts i started on JRPGs so following a script where i don't have control is fine with me, so the storyline telling me that i have to follow a specific path is fine as long as the gameplay and storyline are interesting. Choices with meaning are great but not necessary for a game to be fun to me.
  22. Well in the game Tales of Symphonia for the gamecube your character is the one protecting the "Chosen One" who is destined to save the world. It is her that is necessary to save the world your guy is just one of her friend who wants to protect her.
  23. I also play the majority of WoW by myself, i will occasionally will gather a group to do harder quests as well. Thankfully my girlfriend and my mother both play the game and are far more sociable then I am so they can help me and when the three of us aren't enough they can gather more people. In fact what i really wish would happen would be that someone develops a game on the scale of WoW and show me the consequences of my actions. I don't even need it to be a choice heavy RPG, I just would like to see what i do have consequences. If i conquer a mine for my faction, i want them to take control over it and let me see work being done in it instead of the enemies simply popping back up. My favorite parts of WoW was when the game changed due to my actions, mainly in the last expansion pack, like in the Death Knight starting area, or in Icecrown in Northrend. When i accomplished some goals it would change the map and those gave me the biggest feeling of accomplishment in all my playing of WoW. I do hear that in the next expansion there will be more of that so i am looking forward to it. (sorry for going off on an off topic tangent, but as a player who likes to quest alone, i am more interested in my own accomplishments then milking a never changing environment for rare items that half the game population already has)
  24. Well if you want to be technical, while it was mostly the same people Interplay didn't set up Black Isle when they did Fallout 1, so technicly they did make the first one. They put it together for Fallout 2 though, however as Black Isle was a division of Interplay they did kinda do it. Though it is sad if people believe Bethesda is making New Vegas.
  25. I have always hated games that seem to constantly intentionally try to kill off your characters. I shouldn't be constantly worried that all my hard work will come to an end. It was annoying in the Dark Sun video games but a few hours of attention can net you another character just as good, while in a P&P role playing game it will take you weeks if not months to regain what you have lost. I do hope that they don't go the same route in the new edition, it can be hard while not seemingly trying to punish the player for playing the game.
