  1. Yes but then ur main character dies and the shades get you. Still, I may do just that. Or bring along Xoti with Min's Fortune and Inner Death. Maybe she can one-shot her.
  2. Priests don't help because they run out of spells. The herald regens, btw. Cipher won't help because for a cipher to build focus, they need to do damage and there's no way a cipher can consistently damage this herald to get the focus for disintegrates. I can kill everything else in the fight but the herald regens faster than I can do damage to it.
  3. But I can't even hit it with my afflictions because its other defenses are in the 120s. I reckon the next time around I'm going to need to bring a cipher, but its fortitude defenses is idiotically high as well.
  4. I think I'm stuck on SSS. The third fight involves "fighting your own characters" and since main character is virtually unkillable, how am I supposed to kill her?
  5. It doesn't kill enemies with regen. I learned that the hard way with "brand enemy" in SSS.
  6. It has 19 armor, 162 deflection, and its a troubador that heals itself and has the paladin ability "exalted endurance" for even more healing. How do I kill it? My computer's been running the fight against him for an hour on auto pilot and it's still "unharmed."
  7. LOL. Give all of them large shields and use the large shield module and just sit there and slowly grind the critical enemies down with summons. I mean, what else are you going to do if you can't pause the game?
  8. Chanters give a LOT of sturdiness because they summon and regen. They also have infinite resources for long extended fights. Paladin/Chanters are the toughest character you can create because in combination with their massive defenses they automatically regen and summon meat shields. I've soloed the base game with one of them using only summons, brand enemy, and auto attacks (no consumables). [unfortunately, this may NOT work for seeker, slayer survivor. The enemies can actually outlast you in that DLC so I'm going to skip it]
  9. I recommend this party: Tank: Paladin/chanter (the best tank in the game) Off-tank: paladin/chanter (the best off-tank in the game) Healer: Paladin/Chanter (the best healer in the game) Support: Paladin/Chanter (the best support in the game) Utility 5th Party Member: Paladin/Chanter (provides the best utility in the game). I'm serious.
  10. It's possible I'm not doing the spacing right. But in a lot of fights you simply don't have a choice and your squishes end near your front line. Oftentimes there are so many enemies they swarm past your front line and then the "squishes" in the back like "witches" (barb/cipher) or "loremasters" (wizard/chanter) get hammered. Two points about this run-through: 1. YOU CAN'T PAUSE OR SLOW THE GAME DOWN IN COMBAT. What this means is that if things go to shi- in a fight- and they will- you can't auto-pause and micro your way out of it. 2. NO SAVING. What this means is if you f- up once badly enough you're PERMANENTLY F-ED. To get around this the party needs to be able to do two things: 1. Have a party of "redundant characters" so that the loss of one or two does not mean a group wipe. 2. No uber powerful but <100 deflection character that requires micro cuz with the challenges I can't pause combat and micro the character. EVERYONE is going to carry their weight when it comes to defense and healing and I'm going to simply outlast the enemy. More posts later.
  11. I've beaten the main game twice, and soloed it once with a herald. But I haven't met any of the megabosses or done any of DLCs other than Nemnok so i have no idea what they're like. The Magran challenges will be: Triple Crown Galawain Magran Hence, my strategy: A custom party of ALL chanters with multiclass into paladin or fighter. That way, no matter what I run into, even the unexpected, they can't kill me because I can heal/tank and summon my way through it. The problem with the game is the AI ALWAYS focuses on the squishies, so putting heavy armor on the tank is mostly useless because the enemies never focus them until your squishies are down. So to counter that, I'm going to make everyone a tank. This way nothing, NOTHING can kill me. (Except Rymrgand, but I'll just have to be careful and extremely polite anytime I talk to him).
  12. Heralds (Paladin/Chanter). They can solo the mega bosses. In my next playthrough, I will build my entire party to be chanters and tanks.
  13. If you aren't going to sneak through everything and actually fight my advice is LOTS AND LOTS OF HERALDS. Make every single character a tanky herald in heavy plate armor and large shield (a build which has infinite regen and can solo the game). In combat, they spam summons and have the summons (and the use of brand enemy, which never disappears until the target dies) slowly wear the enemies down. One super tanky herald runs into the room. Initiates combat. And all of the other heralds stand back and sends in their summons (thereby protecting Vela) and that's what you do for every fight.
  14. The synergy comes from frenzy ward +barb frenzy + Ascending as Cipher. Frenzy ward and frenzy stack, granting like 40% Action and recovery speed to your character and bonus might and Con (which is important because the enemies will focus you). These abilities allow you to gain focus quickly and when you ascend you can spam cipher high damaging or aoe spells such as mind blades, disintegrate or silent scream at RAPID speed like no tomorrow. Furthermore, at Barbarian Power level 3, you get Bloodlust which provides even more action speed bonuses. When you hit level 10-12 (PL 4) you get both silent scream and Spirit Frenzy, which means that your attacks when ascended cost no focus, are as quick as a machine gun, do AOE foe-only damage, stagger enemies, and stun and interrupt them. Also, the cipher has a lot of +will defenses that counter the furyshaper's will malus, so that's another good synergy. Finally, the frenzy ward gives bonuses to the entire party making it a very party friendly character. And you can do all of that in the back line as a ranged character. My party consists of two heralds (one custom made, the other Pallegina) giving ranged attack speed buffs, AOE healing, sustain and summons. I also like Tekehu (pure druid) for his foe-only Chill Cloud and mass healing. For the last character I switch between Xoti, Aloth, or Serefen for more buffs or CC.
  15. ok. I'll be back in a week or two once they bundle all the DLCs on Steam and do a Christmas sale.
  16. Even better: Go with a Paladin/Chanter (Herald). Easiest POTD solo, ever. Cast Brand Enemy, summon Ogres to tank, heal yourself occasionally, and watch all of your enemies slowly die. Very little thinking or skill required.
  17. Even better when Tekehu casts it because he turns Chill Fog into "Foe Only." Of course for him it's a level 3 spell, but still. Send your tanky herald into the thick of combat, have Maia cast Chill Fog around your tank, and have Tekehu cast Chill Fog around the rest of your party, and every fight is a breeze because none of the enemies can see.
  18. Wait. Can you use Long Pain and Force of Anguish? Instruments of Pain + WillBreaker (?) + HeartBeat Drumming + Rogue bonus crit passives + Arterial Strike + Repulsive Image + Turning Wheel Intellect Bonus (longer duration of abilities). Hrrrrm.
