  1. I've actually found Disciple quite an effective team member - the combo is quite effective and one I've used in K1 myself...Just don't talk to him - he's a helluva wet rag!
  2. I believe you're referring to AC here - Armour Class. I'm pretty sure this resistance acts like a damage reduction - i.e. if you're hit with something you're resistant to (i.e. fire resist +3) then you ignore the first 3 points of fire damage done to you.
  3. No - I'm pretty sure that's right - which is often what causes the problem for people by coming back to that area using the speeder. It often helps to walk out of that area and back in (getting the loading screen each way) to try to prod the message up
  4. I'm pretty sure that only works on the xbox. I recall someone (Dan Simpson's FAQ on GameFAQs I believe) saying that swoop racing was bugged on both platforms - on xbox you can use apploud's cheat - on PC it's just playin buggered
  5. I recall someone saying that you have to have beaten the swoop race first time or it will never let you win it. You could try Team Gizka - they may have a patch for it...
  6. No she wouldnt...she thinks shes one way when shes really the opposite.... Plus she's always right - didn't you know?
  7. Ooops - and now I can't edit my post
  8. Objection: I'm am not a sneak meatbag, I prefer to open fire from a distance to slay my target quickly. Creeping around is for lesser meatbags who cannot stand on their own appendages in a fight. the thing is - stealth is next to useless in a game like KOTOR - why would you give up that sweet, sweet experience to sneak past the, or go to all the effort of sneaking (using skill points and feats) to get a single stronger hit on them?
  9. Both the starting Jedi classes and prestige classes give a bonus for LS/DS mastery. each class has a different bonus for each extreem. Usually if you matched up your classes (I presume that you're Consular/Master) you get the same bonus, +3 from Consular and +3 from Master - both are reliant on your LS Mastery being there - so it's even more important once you have a prestige class to maintain your LS/DS mastery because it's potentially major bonuses you lose while it's not at its maximum. Also, LS and DS mastery for some of the equivalent classes are different - Weapon Master (LS) is +3 STR, while Marauder (DS) is +1-8 damage. Hope this helps.
  10. I am a Jedi Consular 15 and Jedi Master 1. Wisdom 29, Charisma 18, so that's pretty much now. But it seems the dice is not used for spells. For example, if I use the stasis field, it seems to be simply DC5+16 (my level)+9(Wisdom)+4(Charisma) vs. the enemy's fortitude. Or do the enemies get some additional dice points when trying to evade my spell? The DC is the target that the opponent has to roll to beat. For example - your Statis Field has a DC of (5 + 16 + 9 + 4) = 34 They have to get a Fortitude Save of (Dice Roll + their fort bonus) >= 34 to avoid the effects of your spell. So say their Fort bonus is 20, they therefore have to roll (34 - 20) a 14 or higher (on a 20-sided die) to avoid the effects. So in summary - the DC is the target and is usually not rolled but given a default value, the die roll is then made to match or better the total DC. That that explain it?
  11. Droids Rock!!! In K1 I used T3 for the entire game, it was almost always my character (soldier/guardian), T3 and whoever else I happened to like at the time. I tried the same in K2 but his combat effectiveness had dropped dramatically between games so I swapped him out for Bao-Dur. Still liked to use him occasionally though - he was often able to provide passable ranged support. I replayed K1 and brought HK with me onto the Star Forge - he literally saved the game when me and Bastila were both knocked out - he took on 3 dark jedi himself and won!! Playing melee droids does sound like fun - but if you build and use them properly, then the droids can be very helpful. Regarding healing them - what else do you plan on using all those repair kits for hmmm? And G0-T0 - fat ball with useless skills - why would you ever want a droid to use stealth...?
  12. It's a nice variation from KOTOR for those who like to exert their own real-time fighting skill for a while, instead of being frustrated at your character not hitting because you set their STR too low...
  13. Based on standard D20 rules, the Critical Specs of unarmed strikes are 20 / x2 - i.e. it does double damage on a roll of 20 only. Assuming the KOTOR rule-set stayed true to this, then yes - the critical strike ability will increase the range of this to crit on a 19, 18, or even 17 if you get it high enough to Master. Regarding Force Deflection, and the Deflection bonuses: my understanding is that Force Deflection simply lets you deflect without a lightsaber - all deflection bonuses (equipment, jedi defence, etc) will still apply in the same way.
  14. if it's love, nothing else matters. (awww ....) But in terms of the game, yes, you can't 'romance' all the characters - just the ones defined by the plotwriters, heh. If you can call it romance. There were/are a lot of fans who wanted a Bao romance option, too. I dunno about Bao - those horns would be troublesome...! I was sorely disappointed with the romances in K2...partly cause I had played Jade Empire around the same time...
  15. Crap.... No but seriously the exchange didn't contact me, i went to their office and talk to Mr. Tentacle and talked about refugiees and everything, and i had the cutscene with the guys who harass the manager of the dock, and i killed them. then Mira and Harharr popped out of nowhere, and they just WON'T talk. P.S.: Is the dance useful to someone or something? Hanharr and Mira should never "pop out of nowhere" in any form of interaction with you. When you killed the red ecplise guys - the contact from the exchange normally comes immediately afterwards. Try running around Nar Shadaa a bit more and see if anything pops up - alternatively try paying the little dude outside the cantina to change your status with the exchange. You could also just try a save game before the red eclipse to see if it happens again.
  16. How far in the game are you? You said that the exchange hasn't contacted you, yet you also said that Hanharr and Mira are there...?????? You don't interact with them until AFTER the exchange contacts you, and even though you only interact with one or the other depending on your alignment. It sounds like you've got a helluva bug - hope you've got a save-game before you landed...
  17. My solution is...............order it online. I found my copy in one of those bargain bins - it's a fairly old game now...
  18. no, he follows your command without too much fuss. You don't need to fight him either way. if you puit him in your party again he says you made me kill mission or you killed mission and some more dialog and then he attacks you Isn't that only if you bing him on the star forge with you? Yes - If you take him with you after the incident then he goes nuts eventually. I didn't have it in my DS game though - I had Bastila and HK as my forge-raid squad
  19. Except for Cameo roles Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back Just Shoot Me
  20. Hey Jack, Great read. I too am aspiring to be a gaming designer and have recently received feedback from people here on how to go about it - next stop, NWN Mods!!! As to your questions, 1. Programming and writing complement each other. Eventually you will focus on one or the other career-wise, but being able to do both can only help. 2. The consensus that I got was that if you want to get into game design (story, programming, whatever) you need to show that you can do it. Having a degree is great backing support - showing that you can learn and understand things, plus have the consitution to stick it out - but the real clincher will be what you've done with mods and the like. Use the feedback you got in your BioWare process to make better and better mods. Get in touch with the online community and design a whole campaign with people if you can - it all counts in your favour. 3. Without knowing what the test entailed, I can't answer this. However, I doubt that simply having the degree was the problem. It simply sounds like an experience thing. You said yourself that you had only churned it out in a weekend (great effort by the way) so you were rather limited in what you had been exposed to. Use the experience to get better and then try it again once you have more skills and knowledge. 4. I haven't done C# before (I've been limited to Java and C++ thus far), but I've heard that it's still similar to them. If you can do C++, Java should be a cinch for you - it only gets easier to use...no garbage collectors, no header files, no pointer/reference confusion (that really threw me!!)...easy to use on the whole. 5. Can't answer this one sorry - just have to search around for reference material. For what you're asipiring to however, I would recommend community places - learn off other people. Play their mods/games, read feedback, and all that jazz! 6. Just keep at it mate! You sound like you're on the right track and looking in the right direction. You're definately an inspiration to me who's also trying to get into the industry...I'm just a little more hamstrung by the limitations of living in New Zealand (with a wife too). Good luck!! regards Pantherus
