  1. K1's definately worth finishing IMO. You never actually have to use Zaalbar (only Mission is required for a short time) and you can stick with your current squad - only downside is you're basically stuck being the tank of your party until you get bastila if you don't use Zaalbar. But K1's story is probably the most immersive in a game I've ever played - various other games came close (Baldur's Gate II, Jade Empire, KOTOR II (probably next closest)) but K1 stands out for me, so much fun to play. Unfortunately the story doesn't vary a lot for me as far as LS/DS and male/female goes - so replayability is not nearly as good as K2 had, with different characters and influence trees to follow and such.
  2. Is is just me, or were Zaalbar and Hanharr the Emo, angst-ridden teenagers of the KOTOR games? I enjoyed using those guys as melee tanks, especially as energy shields became prominent because their swords ripped through them; and exploiting Hanharr's final (major) influence bug was fun to play with once...but yeah, the growling and relative lack of interesting conversation got tiresome. I loved using T3 as well - cuteness factor and all!! He was awesome in K1 As I said at the start, I had him along for almost the entire game. I tried it again in K2 and he got womped on Dantooine, then I tagged in Bao-Dur to replace him T3 could actually be quite helpful in a fight once you got him wielding 2 pistols with some accuracy. Of course I love his scene on Nar Shadaaa
  3. Interesting that you say that - cause I found him incredibly helpful in action, especially if you've got 2 Jedi pounding away at the bad guys in front, and he just pops them off from a distance - give him a good old heavy repeater, advanced flamethrower and grenades - especially after he regains his assassin protocols... Anyone else think he's helpful/useless?
  4. What NPCs did you most prefer with you through the games, or at different times? In K1: - The first time I played it (female LS soldier/guardian) I had Juhani and T3 as my party - 2 tough-as-nuts Jedi and blaster support/tech-bot - Next main time (I did a lot of half-games and got bored ) I was a DS female scout/sentinel and mainly used Bastila and Canderous until I got HK, who then replaced Candy. I used Jolee every now and then too. My Star Forge assault squad was bastila and HK - in one part both us Jedi got swamped by evil Jedi and troops and both died - HK then slaughtered the lot of them when I thought we were doomed - there's a lot to say for having a morbidly aggresive droid with you! In K2: - First time through (LS female guardian/weapon master) I avoided Kreia like the plague (just cause I didn't like her and didn't trust her at all), but used T3 for a lot until the sub-level on Dantooine where he got whomped, when I swapped him out for Bao-Dur who I kept pretty much till the end. I pretty much stuck with Visas as my other member. I didn't realise you could train the other's as jedi, and only managed with disciple and bao-dur later in the game. Fortunately I was ludicrously powerful (the grunt character always seems to have an easy time in these games...) and managed to finish the game without much hassle. - Had a fun time as a DS Male Consular/Sith Lord Using HK and Hanharr (let destruction reign! ) - Male DS Sentinel/Assassin with Kreia (on full-on Jedi Support just bolstering me and party with buff powers) and Handmaiden - Female LS Sentinel/Watchman with Disciple and Mira - Male LS Consular/Master with Handmaiden and Mira So many combinations! what do other people like to use?
  5. It would be great if having the robe's hood up added to your "inconspicuous" score - helping stealth or something. The robes I always liked the look of best were actually the ones that looked like a tunic of sorts - I didn't go for the whole long 'dressing-gown' robes, even though they're consisten with the movies... there's so many 'little things' like this that can be incorporated into the game that would just make it that much cooler
  6. Steps for making a REAL lightsaber: Step 1: Go to sleep into lala land - where pixies and leprachauns play with the unicorns!... ... ... you get the rest...
  7. You know - interestingly enough, in the half-dozen or so times i've played this game, I've never been in that situation...
  8. I've got the full package of the 360 (incl the HD) and I can play other xbox games on it fine (I'm playing Jedi Academy atm actually...) but I just heard there were some delay issues with KOTOR specifically... But thanks for that Will - sounds like it should be OK
  9. After a lot of reading on these boards about KOTOR 3 possibilities and stuff, I've been keen to dig up my KOTOR games and play them again - just gotta get them back off a mate... My question, however, is that I recall reading somewhere that the KOTOR games don't work too well on the Xbox 360 - can anyone confirm/deny this? Has anyone played either or both of these games on the 360, with or without problems?
  10. Lol my override folder's weight is 567 mb! Ha!! Nice almost makes me want to upgrade my PC to enable me to play PC version...almost...
  11. This thread is getting far too depressing!! YAY YAY WooHoo!!! KOTOR III will r0x0rz and we will all love it!! ... ... ahem... as you were!
  12. na i would like to be playing as the sith apprentice of a dark lord of the true sith As you can see - many different desires and preferences on what people want. It would be awesome if we could play a game where you fight completely on either side - doing totally different things in either instance - unfortunately that would pretty much require the game be in multiple parts - like a two disc (good/evil) storyline or something... I think it's fairly safe to assume that K3 would follow the same track as 1 and 2 - doing basically the same thing (finding star maps/jedi masters) but going about it slightly differently and for a different purpose depending on your chosen alignment.
  13. There virtually no way that you can do that and keep people happy: Very few people want to play as the Exile again (or Revan). Almost everyone wants then IN the game at some stage, but not as the main PC. Besides, where do you go from there - how powerful do you set your character as? (any "amnesia brought be back to level 1" bollocks would NOT be well received). Also - how can Mical be there if Exile was male? would Mira be there, or Hanharr? What about Handmaiden? There's so many permutations that could happen with choices in the games, especially K2 with character choices and "to train or not to train" the party members... Unless they either have a lot of pre-setting of Revan and Exile before or at the start of the game, or set a canon story, then it can't be done with previous stories. Some people want canon, some want customised (I don't really care either way, the point of the game should be the NEW character(s), not the old ones).
  14. It's entirely possible to do with some clever modding - a lot of clever modding... It's blatantly obvious that the game played is a major mod already - considering: a) Team is Bastila, HK and T3 - you NEVER have those three b) the level is being played on G0-T0's yacht (Bastila...) c) fighting Twin Suns...(Bastila...) Plus - if you look at how she's holding them, her hand is right at one end of the hilts, not nearer the centre, or at least around 3/4 as it would need to be - where she's holding them, she'd have 0 control over the blade protuding from behind her hand. There'll just be some thing in the properties of the DB saying "can hold in one hand" and it's yes/no.
  15. While it might be interesting to have a totally different control environment in the game (i.e. ship combat), I doubt that they'd do it - simply because changing the GUI for something like this would be a lot more work for a small part of the game (the turret shooting parts wouldn't have been a huge challenge since there wasn't a lot of interaction going on - just shooting a gun), while reconfiguring a total change in interface for a space battle would only be feasible if they make it a major part of the game - i.e. inbetween planets you always go to this interface... A thought did come to mind for the space battle though, while the whole battle goes on, your crew could be flying around and docking on major ships to sabotage them. you could give conflicting orders into the controls (i.e. shoot each other) or straight out destroy the ship, or even bolster it (if you want to help them - DS?) Thoughts? Oh - and I think we should refrain from further calls of "when will it be made?" and moreso the depressing statements that it probably won't be any time soon...it's just depressing
  16. Man - there are some seriously great storyline ideas coming through here - keep them coming people! The more ideas coming through, and the more people discuss them - the better IMO. I love lots of the elements of The Architect's and Zaxx Kredda's stories - I would definitely play both of those games! I do actually like Arch's idea of the protagonist being a random padawan hiding out on Corellia (although the specific place isn't necessary - maybe on Coruscant in the "undercity" - type area to be thought taken out when the Jedi temple was. The PC could be known by some of the locals (gangs...) as either a thug or a saint (based on conversation/actions) and picks up a couple of NPC team members before leaving. I don't think the Ebon Hawk should not be used - I think it should at some point - be found floating listlessly in space - completely trashed. Some information can be gleaned from the remnants of its Navicomputer (like Zaxx suggested) - but don't actually use the ship anymore - time for a change methinks. Keep the suggestions coming!
  17. For use in the Aliens RPG? who knows?! How often do corporations listen to customers anyway?
  18. Above is a quote by a user who started a new thread for KOTOR 3 - which was closed since this one was already here. However, I do want to respond to their suggestions, so doing so here Having the game open-ended (i.e. you can continue playing after you've finished it) is a very different style of game to the current KOTOR games. In it's current form - the KOTOR game-type wouldn't work with that style - what would you do?? These games are all about quests - the monsters are a secondary annoyance and deterrant to you finishing the quests. Once you finish the main quest - you win...there is no need to carry on and run around and stuff. I see how you'd want to have that, and there are definate pluses to this style (like being able to use your recently aquired strengths/force powers/weapons/etc on other opponents; but unless they majorly change the playing style to be more like Morrowwind (only game of this style that comes to mind...) then it just won't work. New Droids - there have been discussions on that - there seems to be an overwhelming support (everyone who responded here ) for keeping T3 and HK around. Curious that you specify an R2 unit - what is T3 but R2-D2 with a different body? Having a different type of droid here would be fun though - can you imagine a utility droid like T3 with HK-47's demeanor and personality (just with more beeps!)?...bring a smile to my face... More freedom of choice of classes to take/advance is something I'd love. It would be hard to implement accurately, but would be a great part of it. Choosing Standard/Jedi classes mid-game is definately a plus for me. Playing a "gunman" as he put it could potentially work. Naturally the game would focus on you being a Jedi - but it's doable. More dark robes is easily done - for the most part it would be a matter of opinion and preference for people. Naturally by dealing with the Jedi as a focus you're more likely to come in contact with Jedi robes rather than Sith robes, unless you can start getting more robes off corpses... This just brought to thought the possibility of the storyline entirely changing - instead of subtley working for evil while pretending to follow the Jedi is all well in good - but imagine blatantly joining the Sith instead of the Jedi and working for them - taking on the Jedi up front! With the online mode - this request would probably go hand-in-hand with the first comment regarding the open-ended style of play - it's not really feasible with the style of KOTOR. I have heard of a possible MMORPG in KOTOR's universe - so there's potential there for you Keep the ideas coming people - the more the merrier, and hopefully Obsidian can keep an eye on what we say and note things down...?
  19. Yeah - it would be great (especially from a party dynamics perspective) to have the tough-as-guts mandalorian there...wonder if he/she could be trained as a Jedi too... @Darth Mortis - you're right about how Star Wars is always about the destiny and the like, just thought it would be a nice change of pace...definitaley like your thought on the person being questioned as to their position and rights - kind of a "who do you think you are?" thing...
  20. This is true - and they do have the best personalities of the whole cast! (except maybe Jolee...)
  21. so if I'm right that you've gone through the tunnels now (if you haven't then that's your first target before Hanger 25), make sure you talk to the droid thoroughy, and search EVERYTHING - you'll find the way out
  22. Haha - me too. I kept wandering around, and thinking I'm heading in the right direction and winding up back in the matale grounds (or whatever one it was). Then I remembered I had a map and rapid-transit function...D'OH!!
  23. I can't see them not finishing out the story without them. They're important to me. I just love HK. He made some of those boring quests rather delightful. that's true - and while I'm not against them being in the game as character per se, I guess I'm warning against them being thrown in and not having much fresh material to work with - leaving that "incomplete" feeling with them again. I really felt that K1 rounded out the characters well (what with their personal side-quests and stuff) and made a reason to bring each character around for a while, while K2 meant you could just leave the bulk of them lounging around on the hawk and you could chat to them each time you came back. Couple more things I've randomly thought of ***possible spoilers for both games*** - The part in K1 and in K2 when you - basically when the party members are given their own power. That HAS to be brought into K3 in some form - those parts (particular K1's usage) are some of my favourite parts of the games. - Regarding the main character: while there is definitely a big positive in the main character being some legendary person who is followed by people and is so unique in their own right they HAVE to be the main character - I do rather like the idea of the main character being "just another person" who happens to make a few right choices and does particularly well in circumstances. RPG games predominantly set the PC as some unique person - classic examples are Baldur's Gate (1 and 2), Jade Empire, and of course KOTOR. And then there're the games where you control a bunch of "average joe's" who just happen to be in the right place at the right to change the world - classic examples being the Icewind Dale games, and the Krynn trilogy (Champions, Death Knights, and Dark Queen of Krynn) where you create an entire party to control and none of them are "the chosen one" or anything like that. This is another possible debate - what do people think? Should the PC be a unique and special person who's integral to the universe and everyone know's them - "the chosen one" arch-type, or should it be someone who showed up at the right time, and have no unique destiny pointin them in the right direction - I rather like the latter more, makes it feel more realisitic in a strange way
  24. Regarding Canderous: He doesn't take off his armour because it is a symbo of status and strength as MANDALORE'S armour. He would take it off to sleep and...stuff...but not in the waking hours. As a playable character in your squad? I don't think so. It would be hard to explain him traipsing around with yet another character, especially as he'd be getting older. It'd be cool to have another mandalorian soldier however; like a substitue canderous! Regarding the canon nature of the games - they ARE canon to an extent. There are a lot of things in the game that could happen, but LA have basically given their definition on what the canon storyline is and the base character. For example, in the EU canon - Revan was a male who was redeemed to the light side, and the exile was a female, also on the light side (light side is typically the canon path...). so while there are innumerable permutations in the game in so far as party combinations and actions taken, there is a generic story path which LA have made canon. All this information was gleaned from the Star Wars Wiki - Wookiepedia. Therefore - if K3 was to have major story elements (like HK being found destroyed as a default element), then they would need to find some way of ensuring that his showing up on Mustafar is still possible. Remember that the biggest draw card of these games was the Storyline, and what is a story without backstory and the EU that follows. That's one of the things I love most about these games, how their stories coincided with the other stories of the Star Wars Universe. While I do agree that T3 and HK are "the R2-D2 and C3PO of the KOTOR games", it could be hard to continue to find stories and stuff for them to do that haven't already been done...but if they can - bring them on! I do love that little T3 guy
  25. Ah - thanks for that. I did read that recently, but forgot about it. Friggen canonicity and storyline - meh! More ideas (the more the better) for how to get previous characters in with cameo roles as alternatives to just have them sitting somewhere randomly: - some of the Jedi (even Revan...) could be somewhere as Force Ghosts if the game is based sufficiently after the previous one - add to my original though of dismantled HK / T3 - G0-T0 could also be found somewhere (although I hated G0-T0's character to be honest...) - some could simply be mentioned (like Jolee was in the "pulling a Bindo" line from K2) - there's always named equipment (there was enough of it in K1) that could pop up, like "Onasi Blaster" was in K2. Like Hanharr's Blade, or Mira's Cannon, or Brianna's robe...lots of possibilities. I remember how cool I thought it was to find the Onasi Blaster - any link like that was fantastic to me. - find their remains, with either named equipments, or a datapad (or a crazy old person...) nearby to tell of their demise. Holocrons can also be useful. Most KOTOR fans would love to see some (if not all) of the characters from the first 2 games find their way into K3, but having them as playable characters, or even coincidently standing around in the player's path) would feel very fake and be a mistake.
