Why have trillions when you can have zillions?
-
One small annoyance; no matter what settings you change the Argonian's Jaw/Neck slope to, it stays puffing out in the inventory viewer. And another thing...I'm actually sort of sure that the Argo's don't change at all facially...I think the color is all that changes, since I've noticed that no matter what I do, the face always looks the same in the Inven. view, just different colors. Nobody cares...annnnnd moving on.

you assume it is only millions. trillions is a better assumption. after billions already spent on solar power, it is still too inefficient for general use. wind power has seen billions as well, and it is horribly inefficient. billions have been spent on making ethanol, yet it still cost 29% more fuel to make than the corn produces. still. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Alrighty, I assumed incorrectly. Was thinking more along the lines of what one would pay for a patent or something on a new concept, not the research that's already taken place. given that you borked the very first assumption, i'd say the rest is suspect. taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How so? You're saying that they, meaning the oil companies, aren't looking into alternatives in order to maintain a tight grip on future fuel sources? If not, that's a bit short-sighted of them, don't you think? Eventually, and we're talking decades, not centuries, we'll run out of crude...so they lose their product... Doesn't it stand to reason that they'd be right there to buy out any actual competition on the grounds that they need to protect both their current profits and may one day need the information or technology for future endeavors? I have no idea what I'm talking about. The point was there, but I lost it by trying to sound intelligent and debate-like.

The oil companies. They've got the cash, the political backing, and a "needed" product. Either of those three things by themselves would give a huge advantage to them in terms of their ability to draw consumers. All together, that makes for one hell of an economic juggernaut. The smaller companies have a mountain to climb, and at the top, a dragon to slay, if they're going to get their foot in the door far enough to keep it from slamming shut. Random thought: NASCAR is pointless. How much fuel is that wasting every race?
-
Well of course they won't. Which is why we're pretty much screwed until some major players in business swallow the fact that they're going to take a potentially massive hit to their early profits in order to achieve their current standard again further down the line with a new product. Since the likelihood of that happening is so small at present, I recommend we all start praying...to anything.

Well, here's a question for everybody who's played: What would you rate Oblivion, on a scale of 1-100? Personally, I'm thinking high 80's to the mid-90's.
-
They'll hamper alternate sources, but not in the way you may expect. As long as they supply oil and it's cheaper than the alternative (unit for unit of energy) there won't be a strong shift to the new tech. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It makes sense, from a business point of view, to spend readily available millions today on a future replacement for your current billion dollar industry. They know full well that they've got a finite product, so why not prepare for the future while still managing to completely erradicate every last source of oil on the face of the planet, which, for all we know, may be very important to our survival some time down the road?

Wow. I didn't know any of that, but Oblivion is the only one of my games currently on my HD (40 total) that won't let me Alt-Tab or Ctrl-Esc to address something on my desktop, be it an anti-virus update or a simple IM.
-
Wow, this is serious. Ghost wasn't even all that appealing to me to begin with, since it was console only and basically a slap in the face of their fan base. It is disappointing to have another, potentially permanent, delay, but if it ends up being a truly great game in the end...what's been lost save for time spent complaining about it?
-
Can you do me a favor? Go to My Documents\My Games\Oblivion and send me a PM with any and all items found here? Additionally, are there any .dmp files in your main Oblivion installation folder?<C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion> If there are tell me. I was going to PM you with this query, but this goes to anyone who experiences a crash or hardlock. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've crashed a few times. Mostly in a certain DB mission And when I ALT-TAB out and stay out for a little. or click on something, if I come back, the game's always locked up. So if I get a pop-up...have to restart.
-
<{POST_SNAPBACK}> :D Ohhhh, now I know why.

Thanks again, SS and Lyr. Loving the DB missions, by the way. It's taking forever to save up for that black horse I want though. It'll be worth it though to actually be able to, I don't know, gallop rather than trot at a pace that'd give snails confidence in their sprinting ability.
-
Thanks Shadow and Lyr. Kind of sad that my first instinct is to go to shops half way across the continent rather than look around the immediate area. One more thing that's probably obvious. I can't find anybody who sells lock picks, there a certain person, or do you just find them?
-
Could somebody PLEASE tell me where the hell I can find some "glowing dust"? None of the Alchemists I've found seem to have any, and Azura's waiting.
-
Not even Diablo III?
-
Agreed. *Hops back into his 10th straight hour*
-
I have it...finally...and I'm loving it. More detail once I can pull myself out of the damned thing.

One more quality company down...

It's a team sport. Either you're a team player and you respect your fellows as they should respect you, or, quite frankly, you don't deserve to play the game at the professional level. Owens really isn't all that brilliant anyway...and to say that a receiver can carry a team is just plain ignorant. The QB has to get him the ball in the first place in order for him to be anything but sprinter who runs in patterns. You need a strong line in to give said QB the time necessary to even get the ball off... The Eagles had all those things pretty down pat...they just tend to choke under pressure, much like the Bears. And now...I'm sleeping...exhausted. Maybe Oblivion will get here tomorrow and I can finally get some worthwhile time wasting in.
-
Yeah, but a month ago you were saying it would be crap no matter what. Now you are hoping it's good, sounds like you've changed... atleast a bit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's Hades. Werewolf-boy seldom retains a single view on things. Which is probably a good thing, come to think of it.

I feel violated.
