  1. Just raise their dispositions, sit back, and enjoy the show And they pick the most inopportune times to start the show too! Aloth spontaneously decided that the best time to chat 'feelings' was when the party was hiding between 6 tripple skull mobs, and an un-killable trap... I kinda wish they had the 'character wants to talk' thing worked out in deadfire like they did in the first game. While I appreciate the miracle of Aloth hitting 2+, I'd much preffer to celebrate the occasion in the safety of the gods damned boat rather than while we're all flashing yellow and trying to sneak past certain death!!!
  2. That's exactly what I have a problem with: the Watcher in conversations with Edér is written to be somewhat emotionally detached, and this limits the player's options to roleplay their character the way they see fit. It feels like an artificially imposed restriction, like an invisible wall. I actually feel the same from the opposite side of the Eder fence... I'd like to be able to slap him down (in both games) for his constant racist comments and the incessant goading of Aloth to bring Iselmyr forward and take a back seat in his own body. I really think the RP part of these RPG's could have been greatly enhanced by allowing the watcher a bit more of a "voice" when it comes to the companions, both "positive" and "negative".
  3. What? The soft-hearted guy who kills people and takes their stuff? I have grave suspicions that he's the protagonist in his own RPG... Fffffffff I would play the **** out of that game!!!!
  4. Now I know what race to avoid doing my pirate runthrough!! Damn you Serafen! You're hijacking my quiet benevolent Aloth romance run by being so gods damned charismatic! Seriously, he's the most charming, adorable filthy mouthed lout I've ever seen!!
  5. Yep, I've suspected for a while he's supposed to be like that. Doesn't stop me sighing through my nose about it xD *CENIC gives you a pained look. *Noctoi Sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose...
  6. That's weird. I better to get to checking/updating the one I posted. You are awesome! I restarted my game after installing the mods mentioned in this thread, so I’m not far enough in this time around to see if your mod is triggering properly. The other was definitely being weird.
  7. Hmm, I got the extra dispositions very briefly, but they seem to have disappeared after the patch downloaded. Is this a PEBKAC issue do you think, or a patch issue? I’m frustrated enough with the game that I don’t want to risk my sanity trying to get it working again if the problem is incompatibility with 1.1.0
  8. Annoyingly the dispositions that I briefly had from the mod are also now lacking after the patch
  9. My poor death godlike got really cranky at poor Pallegina in the first game... so much so that she flat out refused to join her in Deadfire lol. In her opinion it went like this; PC: death godlike covered I blistering scale things all over her face. Durance: he’s well... Durance. Ugliest mug that was never born godlike. Hiravias; Orlan with the highest libido this side of the Deadfire, but is an outcast with a forbidden spirit form, and had half his face ripped off... And poor poor Pallegina, pretty feathers, flawless skin, stable job, relatively well respected by most people in town... the ability to leave the idiots that were picking on her and walk into any military outfit she likes... Yes, poor Pallegina... Don't forget Pallegina's prettiness is all due to Giacolo's severing of her bell thingy. Before he did that, she had a lot more feathers and a more beaklike nose. She was depressed enough about it (suicidal at 12!) to basically undergo a procedure that might have killed her. Also, she's only in her particular paladin order because they don't recognize her as having any gender at all - the paladin order usually only accepts men. Sure it's not as bad as some others now, but I still say it's awful enough. Z72. Oooh I completely missed this part of the dialogue (the extra feathers/beak etc that is)... or was it in a book or something... because I refuse to do homework on my games so I would have missed it if it was in a book or graphic novel. I'll have to go back to youtube and catch up on all the dialogue options I missed for her quests either way, because this would make my characters much more tolerant of her grumperizing! That being said, for my poor death godlike it still doesn't trump the boilface/melty face/ripped face trio lol.
  10. I despised the ending of DA:2 so I hope it's not like that. I play games to escape from the daily drudgery of "my life is essentially a meaningless grind of 6 day work weeks that will never make a splash in the great pond of life because I'm merely a pawn to a higher power of assholery and spite...". Not that I want my characters to be 'omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and have the answer to every single woe that ever existed ever'... but if 'my choices matter'... let them matter!
  11. The “far greater issues” are what’s CAUSING me to restart so many times lol.
  12. Oh Gods yes!! I’ve restarted SO many times due to crashes, bugs and general annoyance, that I’m reaching the end of my rope having to wrangle the options menu for world states that vaguely resemble my POE:1 play through (that often enter deadfire wrong anyway), then sitting through the intro AGAIN, then character creation, then finally replaying the first boat battle again... it’s making me want to give up and just play Divinity again
  13. I might actually restart my game now, I’d much rather play this way than throw my achievements out the window using the cheat code. Thanks for sharing!
  14. More laid back and confident, that I see. At least in Serafen and Tekehu, considering how it seems that Edér still hasn't found what he was looking for by the beginning of Deadfire. Empathy is also not a given for all. I can see it in Tekehu very clearly, but Edér is probably the least empathic person ever (*that* Iselmyr dialogue, anyone?). A shame he didn't learn anything in that regard, as he was already that careless in the original Pillars. I'm also not sure he learned a lesson this time around, so he could certainly use a bit of character development there! I think the companions as a whole are good characters, and interesting to interact with. But it is indeed a bit of a shame that we didn't get a shady/flamboyant female companion to balance it all out better. Xoti is way off the goofy charts, though. I think of all the companions in all the games, I like her the least. I agree, if ever there was a game that had room for an Isabela style character, it’s deadfire... though I’d prefer the slightly less irrational and more proportionally breasted Origins version rather than the completely over the top DA:2 style pirate queen...
  15. Ugh, I’m jealous. It’s taken until last Friday just to get past the first hour of gameplay without major bugs/crashes/import catastrophe. Now I can get in and enjoy the game, but the combat is... uh... fluid in its difficulty (I’ve wiped the floor with 3 red skulls only to be utterly destroyed 5 minutes later by a single level appropriate mob). And the reputations! Bahaha poor Aloth and Xoti can’t seem to decide when and to whom they should react. Their rep triggers are window dressing at best in my current play through. Oh, and I’m still crashing on ship combat and sea based events. Oooh and ship food and drink consumption feels like it’s determined by coin toss... I have 8 crew members but sometimes I use 5 food, other times the day clocks over and the greedy sods churn though 200 ale and 200 food overnight! AND STILL HAVE LOW MORALE!! At least it’s not boring on my ship I guess? :D
  16. I would be all over that! I'd even can 20+ hours of gameplay to start again with it installed I mean he actually laughed in the first game... and said such plebeian phrases as "horse****". Surely he has SOME 'normal' likes?
  17. You probably did not butter Tekehu up in his pick-up conversation or weren't flippant enough on Port Maje. I hit -1 right after getting Tekehu and -2 after inn+brothel. The poor lad is sooo buggy even now. I actually gained rep in the brothel while talking to his 'old friend', and he completely ignored me while I boffed every employee in the place! I made a point of hiring all their services, because I was curious to see if I could tick him off... nope... though I still haven't gained more than a couple of teeny bits of rep with him naturally, and he's still best buddies with Serafen, and Eder. He does seem to be liking xoti less and less though. Maybe she's too... happy for him?
  18. 19. By being a worthless idiot myself and not noticing that I've been forcing a couple of injured crew members work for a few days. Morale dropped to ~5, and that scene happened. Well, I'm not really sure if low morale had anything to do with it, but it seems like a logical conclusion. Crew personalities probably mattered too. I think they were accusing him of stealing something? And they were led by the guy who always was the most aggressive one in all the interactions. I was able to talk them out of killing the poor imp in the end, but they did scare me for a second. I was expecting to get a mutiny at low morale, not this. I’ll have to keep that in mind! I too am a worthless idiot who keeps forgetting to feed and water my minions. I never tend to remember until the day clocks over and I get low morale/hungry/thirsty spam all over my ui lol. I’m a ****ty terrible horrible bad bad captain. I guess that’s what they get for putting a twice dead godlike wayfarer in charge when he’s never stepped foot on a boat before? *shrug*
  20. Haha I've just come to the conclusion that he's buggy as hell. I tried another playthrough yesterday and lines that he'd been rolling his eyes at from everyone in the pary including me last time, he was smiling at this time around. And to make matters worse, I'm not even through act one, and he's minimum +1 with EVERYONE BUT ME!!! He loves Eder, even after ripping him a new one about asking to bring Iselmyr back. He loves Xoti to little bitty pieces. He loves Serafen!! But me? I'm playing the stodgiest most 'stick up the ass' character in the known universe, and despite the fact that he's smiling at me I'm still on "0" Maybe he doesn't like blue? Maybe I smell bad? Maybe he doesn't like men with sparkly skin and glowey forheads? Oh gods do I remind him too much of the giant insane douche we're chasing? is that it???? Whyyyyy Aloth Whyyyyyy?!?!?!
  21. Ugh Geez... everyone fell out of the overly literal and grumpy side of bed today apparently. I'm pretty sure we all know this is not the same type of game as Skyrim or Witcher 3. The point is that games (from Tetris or puzzle bobble to Witcher 3) are being released with little to no QA or decent objective beta testing these days. The point was also to illustrate that some bugs are funny as hell... But ya know, I'll take idiotic over overly nitpicky any day. Less stressful that way
  22. May I remind Skyrim is one of the best-selling games of all time, and I've experienced bugs in Enhanced edition that I've never got in original. I was unable to progress main quest for the first time in my 7 year experience. Every rpg developer does need more testing. But Deadfire is actually playable. Much drama? Or Witcher 3- Roach... poor poor special Roach: https://youtu.be/9Ng8vRjFuws https://youtu.be/HG2haOSSqvQ https://youtu.be/UddTUOkFpvM https://youtu.be/4O9E1pH4J9g And let’s not forget Geralt and his buddies... https://youtu.be/Uc6RnI47vTI https://youtu.be/2O-0D7jwMWs https://youtu.be/KpAGtIdANK4 Enjoy! :D
  23. Excuse me for trying to fix the broken quote there, sorry. I hope it worked. He has a redneck accent, probably. And he acts like a "redneck" to an extent (apparently on purpose--he's smarter than he acts, but not a genius by any means). It's more apparent in Pillars 1 that he's a low-key kind of guy, he reminds me of a lot of factory workers and laborers that I've been around over the years, and most of them would rather cover themselves in honey and belly-flop on a termite mound than deal with a "high-class", highly-educated woman no matter HOW hot or nice she is. And it's not because they don't like her, they like her plenty, they just don't want to be in a relationship where they're a sideline or an afterthought. It's far from universal, but you see it here and there. If you notice, if you miserably fail his personal quest, he doesn't really get mad at you. He ASKS you to PLEASE do his personal quest, even at the stage where it's LITERALLY LIFE OR DEATH for someone who concerns him. If he thought of himself as your equal, he'd TELL you that you're going NOW and be BITTERLY angry if you just wandered off and did your own thing. But he doesn't. It's not that he doesn't care, but he does NOT expect YOU to care--even though he was probably the one personally responsible for pulling your unconscious body out of the ruins of Caed Nua, hauling you cross country after Eothas to keep you alive, helping put a ship together, personally watching over you while you're unconscious, etc. I mean, he did ALL THAT STUFF, but he doesn't in any way figure you OWE him this one little thing that literally costs you NOTHING apart from being a little timely for once? Yeah. Yeah that’s pretty much my head canon for his behaviour too... somewhat like James Vega in ME:3. He’s clearly mildly attracted to fem!Shep, but has (if anything) more of a terminal case of hero worship/intimidated awe than truly romantic feelings for her. Kinda like they can’t imagine getting to a point where they can get past the imagined persona to appreciate the “person” underneath. Much how I’d feel if the universe threw me into close quarters with... oh I dunno... Boba Fet, or Anders from DA(pro mage here lol) or Garrus from ME :D
  24. No, it most certainly is not "impossible". Supposedly "hundreds" of bug reports? *TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE* bought this game. *THOUSANDS* are playing it *RIGHT NOW*. Even of hundreds of people experience those exact bugs, that's a *tiny fraction* of people.Human beings are *crap* at understanding ratios and large numbers. What world do you live in where people report bugs? The vast, vast majority of people will never even think to post about a bug, they will just look up a solution or give up immediately. And yes, it's impossible if you played before the first patch to not run into a bug because everyone's import/history was bugged. The very first feature of the game was completely non-functional until almost 2 weeks after the launch of the game. Everyone who played the game during that time encountered this bug. Now take a look at how many people played the game during that time, and look at how many times that bug was reported, and you'll see that a very very minuscule percentage of players actually report bugs. Yeah, but he didn't just bitch about the import/export bug. He was talking about glitches, crashes, being unable to install the DLC, etc. Those bugs are *NOT* universal and there is *NO* reason to claim that "most people" or even a significant portion of people experienced those bugs. SHE wasn’t “bitching” about anything... she was making a comment about the likelihood of improving QA by tasking game development staff with pre-release beta testing and quality control.
