IMO a better way would be to have some sort of reaction at killing someone, I mean in KotOR you could kill pretty much anyone the game allowed you to without any fear of reprisal, such as those drunks on Taris. People everywhere and nobody bats an eyelid.

For a business to sit on a finished product for two months, especially past the busiest sales month of the year, would be insane just to coddle some gamers who are afraid of spoilers or sulking over broken promises.
