  1. It's worth it to put only 1 in skills at start. You'll definitely want more points in skills later, but 1 will get you by at the very beginning in many situations. If you're looking to create a reasonably "optimal" party (as opposed to my crazy, all melee, Three's Company party) you'll want a good mix of ranged weapons and put a point or two down the road in some kind of melee weapon as a back up for if/when you run out of ammo. You'll want to spread your non-weapon skills among your party members, there's no reason to overlap at all, that's wasteful. Pretty much all of them are useful, barter is probably the least useful since the discount isn't all that impressive (only reason I took it for Stanley Roper is that I though it was thematic, and that's partly what I'm going for). Make sure you have a character with first aid (that's RPG gaming 101, but I figured I'd post that for idiot-proofing [not implying you fit that description ]) If you're a serious min-maxer, you can look up the various companions and plan ahead, since companions can and will cover some skills for you. I won't tell you about any of that here (there are plenty of guides around the interwebs) since I don't know if you're into any of that (I'm not) and I don't want to post spoilers. Exactly what I needed. My first attempt at party creation had me putting 2-3 levels in and I felt like there weren't enough skills. Practically got everyone a weapon and one extra. Going 1 level will enable me to actually get first aid!
  2. Any good rules of thumb on character creation? Useless stats/skills? Does it work out well grabbing only 1 level in skills or are they mostly useless below 2-3?
  3. Some Witcher 3: Heart of Stone, some Wasteland 2 (just enough to set up a party), and some Talos Principle. Talos Principle has simpler mechanics and more threadbare story than I expected, but I am liking it.
  4. I'm with whoever is the sassiest. Go Orogun! I wonder if the game will let me fire two AKs (pronounced 'ack') at the same time. One in each hand!
  5. Hate that it's Wii U exclusive. Oh well, Hearts of Stone tomorrow.
  6. Saw The Martian last week. Suffers in being compared to the novel, substantially.
  7. They beat the bad guy in Chapter 1. Like I said, chapter 2 seems like an epilogue. Peacewalker did something very similar with chasing Zadornov. Of course, Peacewalker also had a final-final boss battle with the secret antagonist. That was cut from Phantom Pain, the mission where you fight Liquid in Sahelanthropus. Gave MGO a second day of play. I'm officially done. Nothing too interesting to do, nothing interesting to look forward to. Only reason to keep playing is if I don't value my time.
  8. Side ops are done in open world. Main missions are done in limited areas. They literally could not be done as side ops without re-engineering how the game operates. They're also completely optional. As a new difficulty would have been nice. Chapter 2 felt, to me, like Peacewalker's chasing Zadornov. You're in epilogue territory, just doing random stuff until you get to the extra ending.
  9. The torture scene was just bizarre any way about it. One second Ocelot's all onboard, the next he's against it knowing that she's doing it to prevent unleashing parasites. And Miller's the only one who wants to do it, but just for ****s and giggles it seems, because there's nothing for her to know in the first place.
  10. No, that's about right for the torture. It's the rain cutscene you got at an odd time. But that's because it's a special condition scene. 100% bond, returning to motherbase while it's raining, chapter 2.
  11. It's out for consoles. PC has to wait until January.
  12. Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
  13. Played some MGO yesterday. Just another of the hundreds of half-assed shooters with no map control or flow. Just people spawning in various places on the maps and running towards the enemy. For like 5 minutes at a time. That way you don't have time to get bored by how monotonous it is. To be fair, cloak and dagger is kind of cool. When the attacking team isn't trying to deathmatch it, anyway.
  14. Soma I platinumed Steins;Gate and I have no shame about that.
  15. That fight needed more to it. Like maybe you have to survive his attacks, douse him with water, then attack. And you repeat that a few, having to find a new source of water each time.
  16. Still on Steins;Gate. I really like this game. I just got an ending, a premature ending, and then fast forwarded a second playthrough to avoid that to progress into Chapter 7. I also gave Soma a brief try a couple days ago. I like the opening.
  17. Steins;Gate. It's keeping me more interested than Dangan Ronpa Another Episode did. Geeze, I'm like 20 hours into this game and I'm sure there's three chapters to go.
  18. A little bit of Dangan Ronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair girls. Dangan Ronpa is the only reason I own a Playstation TV. This one has me running around shooting murderous teddy bears with a megaphone. Very weird. Not as good as the main series titles, which are more of visual novels. Also playing Steins;Gate. A visual novel from 2009, finally released on PS3 in the US this month. I hear great things and it's already interesting with about an hour played.
  19. It just makes business sense. DA2 it didn't make sense to do a new run and ad campaign. Mass Effect games sell well enough on their own that they didn't want to cut into DLC profits by bundling. Dragon Age they expected to be able to renew interest in a declining tail this way.
  20. It's not random. It's used on missions that require it, which tend to be the mission at the very top.
  21. Combat Deployment is where you use Battle Gear. You build nukes on the resource screen. I found out that the guy who stole it from me is also in the nuke disarmament trade, he just didn't see my emblem. I've decided not to murder his entire FOB.
  22. Stole my second nuke to dismantle last night, but couldn't actually complete that before going to bed. Someone stole it back while I was asleep. I will unleash such a fury tonight.
  23. Did my first invasion in MGSV's FOB system. I'm joined up with people trying to disarm nukes, finally found a guy with some, and infiltrated. I died to a UAV on the second strut of his command center.
