  1. One of the worst things about politics is political parties frequently finding themselves in a position of having to choose policies on the basis of whether they can convince people to vote for them with those policies, rather than whether they are good policies. Another of the worst things about politics is political parties.
  2. Personal theory on why this plot point is hidden behind many layers of skill checks etc: Owlcat are based in Russia and don't wanna draw tooooo much attention to it.
  3. Spiderverse rules and is the best Spidermovie imo
  4. Son had a bunch of obvious mental health issues that the parents completely neglected. On multiple occasions they failed their duties as parents, including buying him a gun, not securing it, not taking any kind of action when he was caught searching for ammunition on his phone, or drew a gun and a bullet and wrote 'The thought won't stop - help me.' So on the one hand we have an obviously borderline mentally incompetent child, and on the other hand we have two actual adults whose job it is to parent this child. Adults generally have greater expectations of responsibility placed on them than children do, so yeah, I blame the adults who should know better than to put a pistol in the hands of a mentally unwell child more than I blame the mentally unwell child they 'raised'.
  5. Because it's officially Christmas time I've decided, I've been actively seeking out Christmas movies again. Disney Plus recently released a film called Christmas...Again? which combines two of my favourite movie genres, Christmas and time loop. I dunno if they're official genres but whatevs. The basic premise is some girl whose name I forget atm is having a crummy Christmas and after meeting Santa, wishes she could have Christmas again, and because Santa is magic, it happens and she keeps repeating Christmas again and again, with varying results. I was all right. I'm biased towards time loop movies in general, but I don't think the time loop gimmick was used quite as well as I might've hoped. Still fun tho I guess, and had a great deal of sentimentality which frankly, at this time of year, I'm all for.
  6. Late on this but imo the parents of that teen are more responsible for what happened than the child and should cop an equal or greater sentence.
  7. I enjoy restarting this game but I don't think I'm gonna try a serious playthrough until, like, 2023. Should be fixed by then, right?
  8. Did he actually say 'waivered' or was that just a misquote from PCGamer? EDIT: Also, IMO DA:I and most of ME3 are good.
  9. Little late on this news, but I also haven't been on these forums in months so that makes sense. Little Big Adventure AKA Twinsen's Adventure or Rentless: Twinsen's Adventure or Little Big Adventure: Twinsen's Adventure and Little Big Adventure 2 AKA Twinsen's Odyssey are getting a sequel. It's been over 20 years but it's happening. This is probs my most anticipated game now. https://blog.2point21.com/p/journey-new-lba-game New company involves both the main guys who made the first two. My avatar is current again.
  10. I get the impression the Codex is a cesspool of villainy tbh Which doesn't stop it from being a 'normal' ideological view, but that might not necessarily be a good thing.
  11. Yeah it's cool I guess.
  12. Hey there internet friends Rittenhouse is probs going to see zero legal consequences for being a massive tool. The most that he is probs legally culpable for, in my extremely unprofessional opinion having paid very little attention to the story, is illegally carrying a thing he shouldn't have been carrying or whatever, which he's also not going to see any legal consequences for because the judge appears to be extremely not good. I'd love for him to go to prison except that I think the US prison system sucks and makes slightly awful people into even more awful people, much like ours probs tbh. I'd love even more for him to stop being a terrible person but hey, realistic goals, right?
  13. I watched the following movies on Disney+ over the weekend: Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings or whatever - really liked this one but to be fair I'm a card carrying MCU superfan and intend to still be watching the latest Marvel film on my deathbed. Funny, likeable characters, I like that all the main characters got decent screen time. Jungle Cruise - really liked this one, probs helps that Emily Blunt can do no wrong, and also I just like swashbuckly tales. This was a good time. Home Sweet Home Alone - So here's the thing. In Home Alone and Home Alone 2, it's fun to watch acts of over the top violence happen because the people it's happening to are jerks who in number one are trying to rob a house and then kidnap a child or whatever, I dunno it's been a while but the point is they sucked and it's fun to watch evil Joe Pesci get all kinds of violent comeuppance. In this latest one the people trying to break into the house are actually more sympathetic than the child and I didn't enjoy seeing violence happen to them at all so I guess overall I didn't care for the film. There were a couple moments that made me chuckle I guess but overall my recommendation is don't bother, which is a conclusion I'm sure most of you already came to by yourself.
  14. 'Sup nerds. Realised I hadn't been over to the forums for a while, figured I'd come over and check my notifications or whatever. Side note: my avatar is relevant again, LBA3 is coming, I've been waiting since the Black Isle days.
  15. Hey there America What are you doing
  16. Hmmm well I think Trump said he'd concede if the Electoral College voted for Biden so obviously we can all expect a smooth transition from this point forward, with no controversy whatsoever. As an aside, I remember hearing recently that the Proud Boys had a change of leadership because the former leader wasn't quite white supremacist enough for their liking. Weird how BLM, which is more a decentralised political movement like vegetarianism or whatever, than an actual definable group, is the terrorist organisation; would've thought that would be a label that would more closely fit the white supremacist hate group. Anyway, looking forward to the concession speech that Trump said he'd give.
  17. You know what they always say, 51st time's the charm.
  18. I'm not entirely sure about the nuances of voting in the USA; in Australia, if a 'third party' gets a certain number of votes, it means additional funding. Also I guess it may mean that the major parties see where they're losing votes to the third party and try to pander to those votes by adopting some of their policies. So I guess that's a way in which it could be seen as not wasting one's vote. If you're measuring purely by the effect the vote has in the actual election, though, there would've been no difference to the election if every single third party voter stayed home. So in that sense, their votes are wasted.
  19. So like just better schools?
  20. Yeah, no one's surprised that the fascist states are politically united.
  21. Wow, looks like someone's disinvited from the podcast.
  22. Well you're gonna need to do something about that voting system y'all got there.
  23. It's 'stooge' btw
  24. I haven't really seen much in the media regarding Parler. What chat I have seen has been on other forums, and has been more or less along the lines of 'it's filled with Nazis or people who are Nazi adjacent who want a safe space to spew their hateful rhetoric without having other people rock up and call them out for their hateful rhetoric.' Also apparently you have to provide your social security details to join up? EDIT: My mistake, apparently it's just to access certain site functions. Also apparently they got hacked, lol. https://twitter.com/contentedindie/status/1331374839647653888
  25. Censorship is when it's done by the government, not when it's done by an owner of a platform. If I run a gardening podcast and I decide to stop letting someone on my podcast because every time they come on my podcast they say something stupid like that petunias are better than tulips, that's not censorship, because that person is still allowed to start their own podcast with all the hateful petunia related opinions they want. That's just me exercising the rights inherent in me being the person who runs that podcast. Same with Twitter. They're not obliged to give anyone a platform for their stupid opinions. If you want to scream your dumb opinions into the void, start your own website, start a blog or whatever. No one's stopping you from having all the free speech you want, but they're not obliged to host your comments on the website they own.
