  1. I can't stop restarting this dumb game I now have over 300 hours and probs like 20-30 restarts Have been to act 4 once
  2. I haven't played tabletop RPGs in a while. Nonetheless, here's what I think the answer is: Dungeons and Dragons, for all its (many) faults, is and probably always will be the single most popular tabletop RPG system, and this will most likely remain the case for every single iteration from now until the heat death of the universe. It got in early, it established a foothold and an insane amount of brand recognition, and now it's the game that most people will be familiar with. I did a quick internet search and more than half of campaigns using the Roll20 software (this was in 2019) are using dungeons and dragons. What this means is that well over half of current players at any given time will probably be familiar with that game system. A likely barrier to entry for buying any new game system is that the DM and all the players have to learn a new game system. Now, some people are into that - I semi recently played a couple sessions of some Star Wars RPG that used a very different system, and had a blast making my character and checking out how the systems work. The DM was the same. Our other two players, much less so. For many people making a new game system, it is probably, in a financial sense, a much safer bet if you can tell prospective players and DMs 'you won't have to learn a whole new system to play and enjoy this game, because it is functionally identical to the game system that you're already familiar with, just with a fresh new setting.'
  3. Yeah, I mostly saw mine on streaming services, and frankly at the moment that just seems like a sensible decision. You can count what you want imo, it's your list.
  4. I want Anna Kendrick to play me. She doesn't look remotely like me, not least because I'm a man, but I feel like she's got the range to pull it off.
  5. I went and tried to find a list of 2021 movies that I watched in 2021, and I've put them in (approximate) rank order Spider-Man: No Way Home Promising Young Woman Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings The Map of Tiny Perfect Things Cruella Raya and the Last Dragon The Mitchells vs The Machines Jungle Cruise Luca Needle in a Timestack Free Guy Ron's Gone Wrong Space Sweepers Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas Black Widow The Tomorrow War Army of the Dead Muppets Haunted Mansion Vacation Friends Nobody Boss Level Christmas... Again? Thunder Force A couple things about this list: Spider-Man No Way Home and Promising Young Woman occupy, for me, a joint first place, where I kinda think PYW is the better movie, but I enjoyed SMNWH more and am way more likely to want to rewatch it. From there down to, ooooh let's say Mitchells vs the Machines, are extremely good movies imo. Jungle Cruise down to Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas, still really good and entertaining. Black Widow down to Christmas Again are reasonably entertaining but probs had some element I wasn't massively into or think could've been done better. Thunder Force was pretty bad. There's probs room for a bit of rearrangement in a lot of those sections, but the top two and the bottom one are definitely fixed in place. Also I'm definitely going to watch at least one more film this year, Encanto. These were mostly watched on streaming services BTW. EDIT: Forgot about Home Sweet Home Alone. Equalish last place, which makes for some pleasing symmetry.
  6. Weeeellll, that depends. It's working all right for some I guess. I fortunately don't live in the USA, where it's increasingly not working for millions, where (for example) for profit prisons and health care are leaving people in some pretty awful positions. (I think I heard they're gonna cut it out with the prisons, so that's neat.) Here in Australia, (and many other Western nations) there's a few more limitations on the 'free market', and as a consequence it's not quite the apocalyptic hellscape the USA has been shaping up to be these past few years. Seems like some of our population (politicians included) would very much like to head that way though, which is a bit of a bummer.
  7. I saw Spider-Man and it gives Spiderverse a real run for its money in the 'best Spider-Movie' stakes. Recommended.
  8. Yeah OK that looks cool.
  9. IMO the biggest positive about the crusade system over Kingmaker's is that you can toggle it off.
  10. Some of Trump's 'achievements', prior to election and during his tenure: Calling Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals. Insulting a prisoner of war for having been captured Implying a journalist attempting to do her job by asking probing questions was PMSing Responding to an act of violence carried out by his supporters in his name not by condemning their actions, but by saying that the people following him are very passionate and love this country. Mocking a reporter about his congenital joint condition Saying a judge was unable to effectively do his job because of his Mexican heritage. Bragging that his celebrity status enables him to sexually assault women. Dismissing bragging about being able to sexually assault women as ‘locker room banter’. Being the subject of at least 25 separate accusations of sexual misconduct. Implying that some of his accusers were not attractive enough for him to sexually assault. Perpetuating the lie that vaccines cause autism. Asking a black reporter if they can set a meeting up with the Congressional Black Caucus, and if they were friends of hers. Labelling any unflattering news story as ‘fake news’ and calling those media outlets ‘enemy of the American People’. Barring those outlets from press conferences. Implying that in a clash between actual Nazis and Klan members yelling slogans such as ‘Jews will not replace us’ and counter protesters, in which a white supremacist killed one person and injured 19 others with their vehicle, both sides are approximately morally equal, and later saying there were very fine people on both sides. Calling athletes who peacefully protested against police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem 'sons of bitches' and suggesting they should be fired. Implying that media outlets who publish what he characterises as ‘fake news’ might lose their media license. Joking that his vice president wants to kill all gay people. Sharing anti Muslim videos posted by a member of a hate group. Suggesting that the USA should accept more refugees from places like Norway or Asia, rather than African nations. Inspiring a white supremacist website to write that he is more or less on the same page as them with regards to race and immigration. Suggesting it was treasonous not to applaud his speeches. Using a school shooting as an opportunity to criticise FBI investigations into himself. Saying that it was great that China’s president was now President for life, and suggesting that the USA should give that a shot someday. Siding with the leader of a foreign nation over the leaders of his own intelligence agencies. Mocking the testimony of a victim of sexual assault. Praising a congressman for assaulting a reporter. Suggesting that several congresswomen of colour who are American citizens, three of whom were born in the USA, should go back to their own country. Repeatedly downplaying the dangers of a global pandemic. Suggesting the use of untested drugs against the advice of medical professionals. Withholding pandemic aid from states with governors that aren’t ‘grateful enough’. Calling on protestors to violate lockdowns. Publicly speculating about the possible effectiveness of eating or injecting disinfectant to fight a virus. Suggesting he has been treated worse than presidents who were assassinated. Calling a congresswoman ‘Shamu’ and suggesting that she visited every buffet restaurant in the state. Suggesting that a 75 year old peace activist, hospitalised after being shoved by police officers, ‘could be an ANTIFA provocateur’. Sharing a video of one of his supporters yelling ‘white power’. Saying he might not accept the results of an election if he loses. Sending well wishes to someone who was arrested on charges of aiding a sex offender. Calling someone pathetic for accurately saying that a pandemic is widespread. Suggesting that a police officer mistakenly using deadly force is similar to a golfer missing a putt. Encouraging people to vote twice. Refusing to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he lost an election. Ridiculing a political opponent for heeding the advice of scientists. Saying that people who tried to run a campaign bus of his political rival off the road ‘did nothing wrong’. Falsely declaring himself the winner of an election. Falsely claiming that election fraud has been committed. Urging a crowd at a rally to march to the capitol. Telling the crowd, after they commit domestic terrorism by entering the capitol building, erecting a gallows with the apparent intent to hang his Vice President, entering senate chambers and looting several items, ‘We love you. You’re very special’. Continuing, despite his words already having inspired a right wing terrorist attack on the capitol building, to utter the same rhetoric to cause that attack. Trying to have his Vice President overturn the election. Now, the reason I have listed these as 'achievements', is that it is my contention that many of his supporters voted for him in the most recent election not in spite of these things, but because of them. Trump is a terrible human being, and fortunately for him, there are a large number of similarly awful human beings who are excited to be represented by an openly garbage human being.
  11. The first Sonic movie was kinda fun and featured Jim Carrey being the most Jim Carrey I have seen him being in a long time, and I will probs watch the sequel and enjoy it.
  12. One of the worst things about politics is political parties frequently finding themselves in a position of having to choose policies on the basis of whether they can convince people to vote for them with those policies, rather than whether they are good policies. Another of the worst things about politics is political parties.
  13. Personal theory on why this plot point is hidden behind many layers of skill checks etc: Owlcat are based in Russia and don't wanna draw tooooo much attention to it.
  14. Spiderverse rules and is the best Spidermovie imo
  15. Son had a bunch of obvious mental health issues that the parents completely neglected. On multiple occasions they failed their duties as parents, including buying him a gun, not securing it, not taking any kind of action when he was caught searching for ammunition on his phone, or drew a gun and a bullet and wrote 'The thought won't stop - help me.' So on the one hand we have an obviously borderline mentally incompetent child, and on the other hand we have two actual adults whose job it is to parent this child. Adults generally have greater expectations of responsibility placed on them than children do, so yeah, I blame the adults who should know better than to put a pistol in the hands of a mentally unwell child more than I blame the mentally unwell child they 'raised'.
  16. Because it's officially Christmas time I've decided, I've been actively seeking out Christmas movies again. Disney Plus recently released a film called Christmas...Again? which combines two of my favourite movie genres, Christmas and time loop. I dunno if they're official genres but whatevs. The basic premise is some girl whose name I forget atm is having a crummy Christmas and after meeting Santa, wishes she could have Christmas again, and because Santa is magic, it happens and she keeps repeating Christmas again and again, with varying results. I was all right. I'm biased towards time loop movies in general, but I don't think the time loop gimmick was used quite as well as I might've hoped. Still fun tho I guess, and had a great deal of sentimentality which frankly, at this time of year, I'm all for.
  17. Late on this but imo the parents of that teen are more responsible for what happened than the child and should cop an equal or greater sentence.
  18. I enjoy restarting this game but I don't think I'm gonna try a serious playthrough until, like, 2023. Should be fixed by then, right?
  19. Did he actually say 'waivered' or was that just a misquote from PCGamer? EDIT: Also, IMO DA:I and most of ME3 are good.
  20. Little late on this news, but I also haven't been on these forums in months so that makes sense. Little Big Adventure AKA Twinsen's Adventure or Rentless: Twinsen's Adventure or Little Big Adventure: Twinsen's Adventure and Little Big Adventure 2 AKA Twinsen's Odyssey are getting a sequel. It's been over 20 years but it's happening. This is probs my most anticipated game now. https://blog.2point21.com/p/journey-new-lba-game New company involves both the main guys who made the first two. My avatar is current again.
  21. I get the impression the Codex is a cesspool of villainy tbh Which doesn't stop it from being a 'normal' ideological view, but that might not necessarily be a good thing.
  22. Yeah it's cool I guess.
