  2. Homemade Raspberry wine that I found somewhere.
  3. There are several that I definitely could have had on my list. Portal 1/2. Grim Fandango. Left 4 Dead. etc. That's why algroth will have to do this annually.
  4. talk about a song being better than the year in question.
  5. Yeah. Never long enough. I volunteered this morning from 0645-1300 at Lifestream. I actually like volunteering on the holidays. The donor center is closed, but the lab and delivery are open. Made several stock deliveries and one stat delivery today.
  6. I've liked all the Dungeon Siege titles. 1 lent huge freedom to fine tune your character. Granted, if you weren't careful it would end up sucking, but if you leveled up properly, you could have interesting builds. Then 2 limited freedom, but gave specific paths and abilities to take. The story was more interesting to me in 2 than one, but who played them for the story anyway. ...And, let's face it, 1 didn't set a high bar. The story was most interesting in 3 and I think 3 is highly underrated, but it was so different in gameplay, style, and story, it might as well have been a different title. I still enjoyed the hell out of it. Now at the Duke's palace. Almost done with my Emily run at this point.
  7. What the hell is with all this Quest 64 stuff? I don't think I even ever played it. However, for solidarity's sake, I'll grumble like an old grognard and vote for it. I guess... 100 points? after all, I did own an NES. I thought Shadowrun Returns was great. That was the one with the dragon, right? I don't want to spoil for anyone who hasn't played it, but I thought the twist, while not surprising by the time you get there, was still nice.
  8. Yeah, I'm not sure why people mention dread (since there's next to none in Prey) and why would anybody even expect to find it there, considering Prey is not actually a horror game (and it never really got marketed as such). Talos I also happens to be designed as a place to live in as opposed to a horror environment - which is realistic, but not particularly scary. Whole game is rather detached, and poposedly so. Yeah, but is it *good?*
  9. This is the one issue I think is amiss also. Evading seems to draw up the same card a lot in my experience, but I haven't put it to the test because I typically just try to bulldoze everything as much as possible.
  10. *sniff* *sniff sniff* Naw, this year's **** is smelling different.
  11. I've been thinking of getting Prey, WDeranged, but I have so many games already that I think I need to finish some of them. My nephews convinced me to buy Layers of Fear. I want to play Death of the Outsider after I finish my current run of Dishonored 2. I'm the time travel section and it just plays so much better for me than the clockwork mansion. Only part of the game that has a spooky feel for me. After DotO, I plan on doing Layers of Fear and I'll save my second run of INSIDE for school because it's kind of a game that you can play to unwind a few minutes and put aside quickly when you have to stop.
  12. Finished the four main Dirty Harry titles with Sudden Impact. Not a bad series. Can definitely tell the change from the 70s to the 80s, though. I think there's one more where he's no longer a cop. I think I'll look to find that and watch it just to cap the series. I know that he didn't want to do any more Dirty Harry films for fear his age would become a parody. Not a bad series. Sudden Impact was much more suspenseful and wasn't just about taking out the street trash. It had a vigilante twist to it that was interesting. More disturbing, I guess, but still a good waste of time.
  13. How about this, GD? Some new years serves as great bookends to write off a lousy year. If 2017 was bad, celebrate it being over and open a new book for this one. You never know, might be a damned sight better than the last. Happy New Year, my canine friend. May the new year find at least a little contentment and even a little happiness!
  14. The first time, one of my pics made the list with Blood Money. I can't see any controversy in there. I enjoyed Dungeon Keeper, but not enough to vote for it.
  15. I'm in the Dust District. I admit I cheated. I knew where Paolo would end up, so I went up there and placed a stun mine and then when he ended up there, he was zapped before he could sound an alarm. Second runs are like that.
  16. Just watched The Enforcer. lol The first movie his partner was Hispanic and got shot but lived. The second his partner was black and lived (with some close calls). The third, his partner was a woman who gets shot and dies. I get such a kick out of Dirty Harry. Won't take the place of the Lethal Weapon series, but I love it. It's right up there with Die Hard and waaaay ahead of Death Wish. Mel Gibson brings great comedy to his roles, but there's some humor in Dirty Harry and some of the scenes are clearly replicated in Lethal Weapon, either as an homage or blatant stealing.
  17. Yeah, you'd have to be pretty hard up to resort to such tactics. lol I took a gander at the movie list and it was complete BS! :**** eating grin: I did have a number of my favorites on it, but Blade Runner was #1?!? Good God, people! We all know Groundhog Day is the best movie of all time!
  18. The trick to remember is that, if you have one game you *really* want to get in the list, then put all your points into it and give the rest one each. Completely lacking in scruples, but effective for your purposes.
  19. My nephews all wanted to get pedicures so I treated them for Christmas. All four of us went to the nail salon yesterday and got our nails done. First and probably last time for me. Felt good, but it's the kind of frivolity in which I do not indulge. Anyway, my wife was griping at me about it before hand in the store and I couldn't answer her questions. Finally, I said, "I'm sorry, my dear. I'm from a generation where men didn't get pedicures. I simply don't know!" This lady standing a few feet away started to guffaw. However, since I was there already and the wife loves purple, I had my nails done with a purple nail polish. They had me wear these flimsy pink flip flops and I wore them into the restaurant the lads, their mom, the wife, and I customed afterwards. I changed to shoes once we were seated, though. Damned flip flops were not for walking. This morning, when I got out of bed, I looked down and saw my purple toe nails and remembered. Looks goofy as hell, but was good for a laugh I guess. Everyone else got a kick. The lads didn't get colored nails.
  20. There's still hope as long as you don't pull out the ol' M1 and chase young hoodlums off your lawn. I mean, come on, some of us are older, but we're not that old. That being said, there are games actually quite high on my list that wouldn't have made it there now. Still, those games led me to the games I play today which, sadly, aren't really all that many.
  21. Yeah, we should burn console titles! Burn them! Burn them all! :cough cough: ahem. I mean, all genres, styles, platforms, and crazy assed graphics with swords two sizes larger than the pencil thin chicks wielding them are equally valid, but not necessarily to my tastes.
  22. Great job, algroth. This is truly impressive. So far, I've seen a few titles (at least two) that were on my almost list. In fact, Grim Fandango was such a great game. Probably the best game I never finished and I'm tempted to find a copy that will work on my computer and play it again only to finish it this time. This list did more than engender discussion. The best thing about this board is finding game suggestions from people who are willing to explain their opinions and defend their choices. I use this board regularly for precisely such a purpose. I don't want these comments to be seen as some sort of response to Malcador. For all I know, as algroth himself owns as a possibility, he was making a comment tongue in cheek. I'd planned on making this post earlier this morning but I was busy doing things.
