  1. I've never even heard of Fall Out Boy. However, I think New Vegas did score highest on music for the Fallout games. EDIT: If you really wanted to get into the weeds, after the list comes out, you could have people rank each game by category. Graphics, music, etc.
  2. Finished "A Crack in the Slab" last night. Great job with that level. Frankly, some of the other levels could have used the same sort of love, just not the same mechanic. Anyway, I'm skulking around the Dukes digs. I've stocked up on everything and have coin to spare. Sad that I haven't even been fixating on getting all the gold in every mission and it hasn't mattered much. Since I'm going non lethal, there are things I almost never use. However, unlike the original, I do shoot some things with bolts and/or bullets. ...And at least bolts come in handy still to break down boards and stuff in order to allow access to places. I should be able to finish this game and Death of the Outsider before Jan. 8, which is quite nice.
  3. I'd pick 2 over original, but then again I'd pick New Vegas over the original also. I can see different arguments, though. One took itself too seriously. Two didn't take itself seriously enough. New Vegas had that awful Bethesda dialogue that's meant to make the world feel more populated. They all have something they do better than the others. They all have areas where they fall down at least somewhat. I do have to admit I wasn't ever a fan of the 'tribal' direction BIS went with 2 but... meh. Great games one and all. All three made my top 25, but only two made my top five.

  5. As an alcoholic I gotta say that everything but booze is overrated. Amen **hic** my brother!
  6. I've decided to restart the time walking scenario again. I've gotten completely turned around with the timepiece. It's a clever design, don't get me wrong, but I'm a tad on the confused side right now. This is definitely one of the highlights of the game so far, though. That and non-lethaling two birds with one photo was quite nice.
  7. Heh, I graduated from high school in 1987. Yeah, I remember that game, though. Nice one. I liked those old Sierra games. I remember this ancient game called Kingdom in which the player decided how much grain to plant and how much to keep in the granary and how much to feed to the population. The stored grain could be eaten by rats. The population grew based on the amount of food. The amount planted resulted in new grain. Horrible game. Even 'back in the day' it was God awful! I think that was on the Atari 400? Then there were gems that I wish I could at least see again like Temple of Apshai and Adventure. I think Temple was a cartridge game. It had graphics and everything. Adventure was a text adventure with two word commands that only read the first three letters of each command. Wow, this thread is bringing back memories.
  8. Arcade stuff was definitely space invaders. My brother in law worked on arcade games and he had a machine at home we could play without quarters. In the home, Pong for sure. It was really primitive by today's standards.
  9. heading out for Wild Lights, but I'll check in on your channel this week. Meanwhile, just finished the Dust District with Dishonored 2. I've only had one kill all game, and that was a hive keeper. Playing an assassin in a game where you are high chaos for *any* killing sounds dumb, but I can get that. I like the idea of no killing. However, *hive keepers?* They're essentially undead. You should get higher chaos for letting them live and spread the blood fly infestation. Still, that's just sour grapes. I could have gone back a little to avoid killing the one hive tender dude and I decided not to. However, I've kept the others alive, but I'm tempted to kill the rest from now on. One, I already have one kill. Two, from a role playing perspective, I think Corvo would off the bastards. They're no longer human and pose a threat to the community.
  10. Okay, here's the rundown: as far as the gin, the taste was spectacular. I thought the was the deep purple gin tasted fine although not very strong. However, I also tried it with fresh squeezed lemon and that was delicious! The beets, on the other hand, were too strong with the gin flavor and I think vodka would have been much better for that purpose. For this reason, my next attempt will be with Vodka. I tend to drink a lot of scotch, but I shy away from anything over $50 (unless someone else pays for it) and so I can't imagine trying whiskey any time soon. This is promising and, even better, I have other uses for this infused mixture (as the liquid in an airlock) and so I will continue to experiment with it.
  11. This Pigeon stuff amounts to an ad hominem attack. Val has apparently cited Pigeon guy in the past. Ben brings up that association as a way to attack Val's overall points. Val, as far as I can tell, takes the bait in some sense and engages with Ben on this subject. I have no stake in that fight. Also, I will point out that I don't really know Val, but he does have similar views on at least a few subjects, and so I will come at this question obliquely. Valsuelm might have what some people consider questionable views on some issues. I don't doubt that virtually everyone here has views that at least some people find questionable. However, in the same way that we should view each other's arguments charitably, we should also isolate disparate arguments each of us makes from his other arguments. Moreover, a person can have different views at different times and those views often change for better or worse according to what the reader wants to believe. "For the Jew was still characterized for me by nothing but his religion, and therefore, on grounds of human tolerance, I maintained my rejection of religious attacks in this case as in others. Consequently, the tone, particularly that of the Viennese anti-Semitic press, seemed to me unworthy of the cultural tradition of a great nation." I would suggest that virtually every person here would applaud the sentiment in this quote. I'm also convinced that every person here despised the person making the statement. He was a bad guy, but apparently there was a point where he wasn't as bad guy as he ended. I'll own that I'm perhaps not thinking quite as clearly as I was earlier this evening. However, I would still contend that this isn't a proper discussion of policy. It's an argument about trivial side-show things that don't really go towards the question at hand, which is public policy as far as I can tell. I'm new here, of course, and so probably not in a position to butt into what appears to be a private squabble, but what Ben and Val think about Pigeon-boy doesn't really intrude over much into an assessment of current policy. I mean, as a general idea of which one you find more credible, sure. That would be a surprise as to whom most people find credible in this joint, but it's irrelevant. The individual arguments about policy, however, are individual arguments that should stand or fall on their own merits. That said, I overall tend to agree more with Val, but I don't agree completely with either one of them. ...And I wish Shaun the best with his youtube page at any rate.
  12. I don't know how much we want to bogart this game with another dissection of the various Fallout games, but New Vegas wasn't great because of the Legion. New Vegas was great because they actually did a halfway decent social commentary on the Iraq war that was entirely preachy, didactic, or morally intrusive. For a computer game, it did a better job than most of the ham-fisted TV shows or movies that I've seen. EDIT: "Was not." mind is going.
  13. M*A*S*H* the TV series clearly outstripped the book or the movie. We have Mash as an enduring part of our culture because of TV. I loved Speed Racer when I was a kid. I think I can find a video. Hmm, someone mentioned Scooby Doo. I honestly didn't get to watch a lot of cartoons when I was a kid. I was gone for a while in a place that didn't exactly have access to great television. I did love Mash and would actually make it the one weekly ritual. However, late at night, in the wee hours of the morning, I would watch all the oldies that I'd just missed by being too young. The Twilight Zone. Combat. The Outer Limits. EDIT: ...And I loved the Avengers also. Those old brits could make some great shows also. The Saint was great fun. I'm sure I saw these well after they were cancelled as series, but I loved 'em as a kid.
  14. New Vegas was in there a few times, including my top five. Unless you're being facetious Algroth, in which case I'm just a doofus. Also, love how my phone changed Grim into From. Rat bastard spellcheck.
  15. As, MOO and MOO2. From,Fandango was such a great game, but I upgraded the computers before finishing it and it didn't work. I should see if it works on GiG or something now.
  16. I decided to take Humanoid's advice. Well... actually I somehow managed to kill one of those bloodfly keepers. I'm not even going to bother going back. Really, it is no longer human. You should lose chaos by killing the shuffling zombified bastards, but no biggie. Now that I've got that one kill, I have an excuse to do a non-lethal run with the kid next.
  17. I could discuss the actual tax plan and perhaps even address such cheap tactics as opposing it tooth and nail and then claiming it will be a massive tax increase on the middle class because it's set to expire in ten years. Yeah congress won't vote to extend popular tax cuts? Look at your history, people. Even if it didn't you're raising people's tax by giving them a ten year decrease before it returns to current levels? First of all, that's very unlikely for the majority of the tax cuts. Second of all, the net result is still several years of lower taxes followed by a return to the same level. The shamelessness! I actually admire the chutzpah. Anyhow, this is pointless. The first year people file a full return, which should be 2019, the amount extra people will get back will be substantial for virtually everyone in the middle class. That's simply going by the numbers for someone who's been reading the tax information and has been taking the hours necessary to do his own taxes for years. I run the numbers both ways most of the time because sometimes I can get a slight amount extra by itemizing, but after this goes into effect I can't imagine I'll need anything other than the standard deduction. With the actual rate decreases and the doubling of the standard deduction, this is going to give the vast majority of Americans a tax cut and virtually everyone in the middle class will see a direct benefit.
  18. Hell, I know people who don't have any choice but to post drunk because they're never sober. Of course, those folks don't post at all to my knowledge, but... meh. Speaking of booze, one of the fellows from my cohort and I are going to a local brewery for a beer tonight. The program is brutal and, with only 20 people in my cohort and 12 hour clinicals together, getting to know some of them before we start is a good idea. The orientation was good, but it's better to get to know each other in a less formal setting. So, a few of us get together and knock back beers? All good. I suggested Hanger 24. It's not my favorite micro around here, but it's the most trendy and recognizable. I just wish they had sour ales. Anyhow, I know more about the area than anyone else, being the only local in my cohort. Everyone else is moving from the coast, upstate, or out of state.
  19. Yeah, I had to think long and hard about Bloodlines. Great game. I loved it. It was good enough to get past my normal aversion to Vampires. Of course, now that Zombies have taken over everything, I'm warming to Vamps a little more now.
  20. Okay, Shady, I'm going to try that infused gin tonight. I'm beginning to think I should have used vodka like you did, though. Gin already has a strong juniper berry taste and aroma. Still, I have hopes. I started it three days ago and the jar is so purple it's almost black. I should take a pic and post it. It's actually quite attractive. Fresh beets and Tanqueray. I started it on the night of the 12th. Three days should be enough to give me some idea. If it shows promise, I'll try vodka next. Maybe some Stoli or Absolut. I don't know what brands are trendy in vodka these days. Grey Goose? whatever, will report results on the gin later.
  21. I'm at the Clockwork Castle. Ugh, what a mess of mazes and messes. I think I've found Sokolov finally. I'm running around apparently in the walls or something. Place is just weird. Kind of interesting, I'll grant, and I'm having fun, but a lot of wandering aimlessly.
  22. This actually applied to me. A few years back I worked mon-fri 9-6 and needed a new drivers license. Couldn't ask off work not was my lunch break long enough for me to do so. Know what I did? I went online and had one mailed to me. Paid for it and used an old picture they had in the system at midnight. Didn't have to go inside the DMV and did it when I could do. Blessed internet making things so much easier for everyone and ruining excuses. Moreover, I bet, and correct me if I'm wrong, the "oh ****" moment wasn't you couldn't vote. It was probably that you couldn't drive, cash checks, buy a beer? @smjjames: I literally laughed out loud. Kudos, young man! I tip my hat.
