Ya.  they fixed a bunch of stuff but the textures issue might force me to do the same.

Hey, guys. I am seeing the pink ogre clubs, but the xaurip spears look fine. Can you upload a screenshot of the xaurip spears so we can investigate?

For me at least it is specifically Xaurip Champion Spears.  I have not scene an Ogre with a club yet my I suspect the same.

Here is the pic Champ Spear

    regular Xaurip Spear no issue

Is there some things we could try and do to fix this on our end or is it just something we will have to wait out in the Live patch.

Those last 2 saves were from a game that went from 2.01 to 2.02.  I started up a new one quick and sure enough the Xaurip Champion at Anslogs Compass has a Pink Spear.

    Thanks for the info.

There is a way you could hack together a build that would fix the issue, but it is probably best to wait for the updated beta build tomorrow.

If you would like to try to hack a build together you can attempt to copy over the good assetbundles from the current live build on top of the assetbundles in the beta. Should fix the problem. That said, you could screw something up in your build so I wouldn't suggest it.

I only had the ogres before I rolled back. Now they're back to normal. It's a texture issue, isn't it?

Actually, it was a Unity issue. For some reason, the prefabs on the build machine got corrupted. Not really sure how it happened, but we have fixed the problem on our end. We will likely put out a new patch with the fixed clubs tomorrow. There were also some fixes made to chanters with regards to retraining.

  3. The DVD 2.01 Updates are now live for Windows and Linux DVD users. These updates are to be used with the builds that were delivered on DVDs to Pillars of Eternity backers.

If you are playing the game through Steam, GOG, or Origin, you should update your game through those platforms instead.

We are currently working on installable versions of The White March - Part I and hope to have those available for download for DVD users in the next week or two.

I don't see anything about a fix for soulbound weapons not counting kills at all. Doesn't matter if the requirement is 10 or 50 if you're permanently stuck on zero...

I don't think we have seen an issue where no soulbound weapons are counting kills. Is it a specific weapon? If not, would you mind sending over your saved game our way so we can investigate?

    Hi Brandon,

the issue has been reported in the technical forum and acknowledge by Aarik D. if memory serves.

When St Ydwen's Redeemer kills a Vessel with the Destroys Vessels proc, the kill doesn't count toward the total for unlocking the next level. Our best guess ("our" as in "the community's") is that a kill only counts if the killing blow comes from the weapon directly and not from the spell it proc'd.

I think I misunderstood. I thought the problem was that none of the soulbound weapons were counting kills.

That issue you reported is known and it currently in the queue for the next patch.

  6. Hey, everyone. Update 2.01 is now live on Steam. Within a day it should also be live on GOG and Origin.

We are currently working to make DVD patches for 2.01, as well. We hope to have those up by the end of the week, but that could slip into next week.

If you would like to see the latest patch notes, please go here.

Here is a quick rundown of some major fixes:

    • Party members will now default to AI: On and Instruction Set: None.
    • Many optimizations to save/load and area transitions performance. Some users are reporting a 20% decrease in load times.
    • Blurry text in UI has been fixed.
    • Problems with the stash not properly containing items that have been looted is now fixed.

A new beta build has been added to the beta branch. The latest build should be 2.01.721. The only change was a fix to a bug which was introduced into 2.01 that was causing spellcasters to get extra casts of a spell if they were interrupted while casting it.

If that's the only thing you fixed, why is it 1.1 GBs large?

Steam doesn't have the best diffing ability when creating patches. Because new builds rebuild all of our data (even if it isn't being changed) I think it can cause problems in Steam. You will notice that other platforms (Origin and GOG) have patches that are much smaller because they have a better patch creation process.

    1) How much money did you back?

    2) If not above $165 did you purchase the $20 X-pack addition

    3) If not 1 or 2... no, nothing is wrong... no freebies.

And if both 1 & 2 are true but I did not back through Kickstarter but PayPal (because I missed the campaign :()?

EDIT: I should probably also get the Obsidian Order thing sorted out, while I'm at it, fashionably late to the party ;)

Hey, marelooke. I took a look at your tier. The retail version of the collector's edition (the version available after the Kickstarter) does not come with the expansion pack. You would need to purchase the expansion pack separately to play it.

I will make a post if anything change on that front in the future.

Ah bummer, I figured it was part of the tier since I got all the other goodies from that tier, I'd probably have added extra if I'd known in advance.

Oh well, can't be helped now, thanks for clearing it up though! :)

We talked this over internally and we have decided to give anyone who purchased the $250 retail tier a copy of the expansion pack, as well. To get a copy just send an email to support@obsidian.net and they can hook you up.

  9. Hey, guys. I probably could have chosen my words better than I did. I wasn't trying to upset any of our Linux supporters and I didn't mean to belittle their support. I love all of our backers and I appreciate all of their help.

We basically had to build our Linux infrastructure from scratch on our side. It wasn't something we were used to. It was also painful for us to develop in Linux because the Unity tools didn't support Linux at the time. This meant that we were unable to debug on the platform.

Now that we have gone through the process of creating these builds it is something that will be much easier for us in the future. Pair that with SteamOS, Steam Controller, and Steam Machine and I think Linux's future is good with PoE games.

  11. Are there any plans to release 2.0 and the expansion for the boxed physical version of PoE?  The download page only has 1.06 patch and no expansion.

We are working on the 2.00 patch for physical discs now. We are shooting to have it up next week.

As for an expansion, we are discussing how best to take care of it. It may end up as a direct download from the backer portal. We aren't sure yet.

It's a silly question I know but how can I play the expansion? In the game menu it says the expansion is installed but I cannot find a way to play it directly. Is it only accessible from within the normal gameplay? I use the GOG version.

I think so. It's more content in the main game you can go to during the main plot after you get the stronghold (more or less).

It's not a continuation past main game plot.

Are there any requirements other than getting the stronghold? I started a new game and have the stronghold now but there doesn't seem to be a way to access the new content

Just need to complete the first major quest in act 2. I don't want to give away any spoilers.

The expansion adds additional content to your current playthrough. More areas, companions, items, etc. You can access it after you have finished the first major quest in act 2.
