I really really really want a high res version of the picture from the kickstarter update:
Is it out somewhere? or do I have to beg Obsidian? :3
We have that very background coming out as a wallpaper later today (most likely today).

So not all tiers of Kickstarter supporters got the xpac included?
If I remember correctly it is at tiers of $165 and above.

I'm running into a bit of an issue with GoG. I've successfully redeemed The White March on GoG, however, the game does not update (through GoG Galaxy). Instead, I receive a "Not Authorized" error. I can directly download the files from both the website and through Galaxy, and play. However, Galaxy still says my game is not authorized and am unable to automatically download. It is as if I never purchased The White March. In fact, for some reason when I browse GoG's website, it does not register that I own The White March (I see "purchase" rather than "owned". While I do not mind manually downloading the files, I have GoG Galaxy so I do not have to. My concern is because of my "Not Authorized" status, I will be unable to receive future updates and patches.
I have tried to force the game to verify/repair, but that does not solve the issue. I have a ticket into GoG, and am waiting a reply. In the meantime, I thought I would post my issue here to make Obsidian aware of it, and in hopes maybe there is a solution. I really do not want to have to purchase The White March again (nor should I have to).
Unfortunately, I don't know any of the technical details or problems with Galaxy. Your best bet is to contact GOG directly to let them know. Anyone else seeing this problem?

I'm surprised there's no launch discount, or at least a discount for the PoE base game. You want to take advantage of the publicity you're getting now to drive sales of the original game - people can't buy the expansion alone.
There is. We are the midweek deal on Steam.

Update by Brandon Adler, Lead Producer
Hey, everyone. I have some exciting news for you today. The White March, the expansion for Pillars of Eternity, has released its first part and you can find it on Steam, GOG, and Origin. In this update we will explain how to redeem your rewards from the Backer Portal and show you some of the cool companions, areas, and features from the expansion.
Let's not waste any time.
Obsidian has released the first half of the Pillars of Eternity expansion, The White March! It is now available on Steam, GOG, and Origin.
For those of you that may not know a lot about our expansion, let me talk about some of the details and highlights:
- The White March - Part I takes place in the harsh, frozen frontiers north of the Dyrwood. Word of Durgan's Battery and its buried treasures (including Durgan's Steel) has made its way back to the Watcher of Caed Nua.
- We have two new companions in the expansion:
- Zahua, a scarred, drug-addicted monk who thinks pain is the true path to enlightenment.
- The Devil of Caroc, a construct with the soul of a murderer infused inside.
- The expansion adds in a special class of items called soulbound weapons. These weapons have powerful (and unique) enchantments that become more powerful as their wielder levels up.
- You can now set your companions to use AI so you don't have to spend as much time managing their actions. Each class has special AI packages that are unique to those classes and we will be added in additional AI packages in the future. The AI for enemies has also been improved.
- Party members can now go into individual stealth. This allows some part members to be stealthed while other members are not. This is particularly useful in positioning party members for upcoming battles or sneaking by small groups of enemies.
- You may now retrain your party members to modify their attributes, skills, and abilities. Now you can try out new builds quickly and easily.
Note: The expansion is not part of the Hero, Champion, or Royal bundles. The expansion was part of Kickstarter tiers at $165 and above. If you are a backer, but did not get the expansion bundled in your tier you will have to purchase it from Steam or GOG seperately.
We have now released Steam and GOG keys to all qualifying backers on the Backer Portal.
If the expansion was a part of your Kickstarter tier or if you purchased it as a separate add-on, you can redeem your game and get your key just like any other reward on our Backer Portal.
You can find the specific redemption instructions here under the "Steps to Redeem Your Items" section.
Over the past few months Obsidian has been working with DRKN, a premiere clothing manufacturer, to come up with some cool pieces of clothing that takes inspiration from Pillars of Eternity. We are happy to announce that they have finished their first few pieces and you'll get the first crack at them.
In addition to high-quality clothing, you also get a digital copy of the Campaign Almanac with your purchase.
What are you waiting for? You can get your Pillars-inspired clothing here.
If any of you are headed to PAX Prime this weekend, you should stop by the Hydra Theater at 3:00 PM on Saturday to catch our Pillars of Eternity retrospective panel. It's going to be filled with stories about our successes, our failures, and how it is shaping our future development. Also, we will give a sneak peek into our thoughts for future Pillars of Eternity products.
If you are unable to make it to PAX, not to worry. We will be streamed live on the official PAX Twitch channel for those that can't be there.
That's it for now. Have fun exploring the harsh wilderness of The White March!

Downloaded the patch, no problem. I am very disappointed that after all this time, the main quest-breaking Icantha bug is still not fixed, however. When encountering it months ago, I flat stopped playing, having no interest in disabling my achievements by cheating or modding the game to fix the problem. I waited patiently, playing other games that work consistently, even mentioned the bug at the Obsidian booth at Gen Con. This is a known issue, how has it not been addressed yet?
According to QA this bug was resolved in the 2.00 patch. Unfortunately, the fix may not be retroactive if she is already hostile. You may have to load up a save previous to when you encountered the problem.

Hey, docstout. I am not sure of the exact issue you are referring to, but I am checking up on this bug with QA to see what the status is.

This is probably a stupid question, but I can't find the key in my products page. What should the entry look like?
Hey, hibbtacular. I just checked your account and it looks like your tier didn't come with a copy of the expansion pack. You will need to purchase the expansion through GOG to be able to play it.
Here is a link to the page.

It should look like the highlighted part here: http://imgur.com/0lH4mvs

Hey @Badler, is there any way to backtrack if you were an idiot and redeemed a Steam key with the backer portal (not activated on steam itself) because you forgot you had a GOG version of the game, not Steam?
Just send an email to support@obsidian.net. We can hook you up with a new GOG key and revoke your old Steam one. Just let them know what happened.

Just a note, make sure your game is fully patched up (2.00) before you play. The expansion pack needs a fully patched game to play correctly.
Really? I was thinking the expansion contained the patch!! You should really put a notice on this (on kickstarter/Steam/GOG/wherever you're selling the game), I guess some people would make the same mistake as I did! (game isn't fully downloaded yet though, so I can still get the patch first).
There should be a notice on GOG's page, but I think it is a bit tiny. Steam should automatically patch you to the correct build.

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have decided to give the space pig pet (and Gaun's Pledge) to everyone who buys the expansion as a thank you for their support.
Most of you should already have the space pig because he comes with the Kickstarter package, but for those that don't you can now get in on the space pig fun.
This is live on Steam and should be live on GOG and Origin shortly.

Hey, Brandon, are you guys going to release a Kickstarter update about this?
We are. It is all written up, but I will put it out later today once I get in the office.

I rushed in and redeemed mine, then I read this
To be safe, it is best to hold off on redeeming the key until the product has been released.
Damnit! :D
Hopefully it doesn't cause any issues. I just know that some people got confused the last time we gave people keys a bit early. Let me know if you see any wonkiness when you go to download the game.
-
Cant.... wait - must.... redeem the key now... Then later I can complain on the forums that there is a complication arising due to me redeeming the key early!
From the looks of it, Steam and GOG are both now live! You should be able to redeem now.

Hello, everyone. For those of you that have the expansion pack as part of your reward tier (or an add-on) the keys for The White March are now available on the backer portal. For a refresher on how to redeem your rewards you can go here and check under the section titled "Steps to Redeem Your Items."
You will not be able to download the expansion until it is released to the public. This should happen today around 7:00 AM PDT. If you redeem your keys early (especially on GOG) you may not be able to see your expansion pack in your account. To be safe, it is best to hold off on redeeming the key until the product has been released.

Hello, everyone. The 2.00 Update is now live on Steam for everyone. GOG and Origin will have patches up in the next couple of hours. To see some of the changes and fixes you can go here.
Have fun and get ready for the release of The White March - Part I.

Any word on when this will be released? I don't like beta testing but would appreciate it's release sooner then later to help with the bugs. Actually where do we even download the beta or does it just patch our current build? A bit new to this if you can't tell lol.
Welcome aboard. You can access the beta branch by following the instructions here. This will give you all of the information you need to take part in the fun. The great thing about the beta on Steam is that you can opt into a normal build at any time by switching your branch back to the default branch.
As for when the patch will officially be released... anywhere from the 20th to the 25th. I would like everyone to be able to play the official beta a few days before the expansion comes out so they can check out the new features we are including.
-
Beta patches are only released on Steam. The expansion release date has been announced as August 25th, so I'd assume that's when GOG will release as well, and also assume we'll get patch 2.0 on or before that date.
Beta patches only on Steam? Are you sure? Why?? Bah, I really was hoping I could help you guys squish bugs...
Sorry, when I spoke with the representatives at GoG about it they mentioned that they didn't currently have the capability. Maybe we can get something in the future, though.

Hey, everyone. We are looking to put out another beta build in a few hours that should have fixed some of the issues that were introduced in the last patch. I will keep you informed when/if it goes live on Steam.
Nobear: I don't think we will be doing those achievements for the first part of the expansion. We are too far along in development to start introducing those new features. This is something that we can discuss for the second part of the expansion, though. Depends on how robust the system is in their beta.
The beta branch has been updated with the latest build. This should fix some of the issues that were being reported due to the new build.

Thanks Obsidian.
But...
This patch is bringing back the mouse lag
Everything is fine, except for mouse lag in the inventory (and other screens), as I had in a really early beta ...
Is anyone else seeing this problem? I would like to see how widespread it is.

Update 100: The White March - Part I
in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Posted
No. The game should be 2.00.760. If you are seeing that build it is in an incorrect state. Are you back on the default branch? What I mean is, have you removed the beta branch and gone back to "none"?
