    What if...

Indeed. This is my home... away from home... while at home...
  3. This actually makes no sense. The developers/publishers/investors are the ones that have put in what is oft multi-million dollars into the development of the game. So, they take steps to protect their investment. You think they're putting in copyright protection to keep people from stealing it from you? Beyond that, have you had a problem with them forgetting to give you the CD? No, but there have been problems in actually getting the game to work properly because of issues of compatibilty between hardware and already installed software and copy protection thusly not being able to play the game that one paid for.
  4. Its like a determined thief will get into your home or car so someone else puts locks in but forgets to give you the keys.
  5. Starforce sends files in your register to see what you have there. If it doesn't like what it sees the program doesn't launch. Even if you uninstall a program that uses Starforce the Starforce files remain in the registry. In my experience with Starforce, SecuROM, and crap like that is they never work. Determined pirates will break the copy protection no matter how good and they will distribute the program. Legitimate users are more often than not hampered by the copy protection than those who pirate the game. I like to see games without software based copy protection and the artists get the money and rewards they deserve, but I absolutely refuse to buy a game that uses Starforce. Did so once and it really messed my system up so I will never again. I haven't had any problems with SecuROM yet, but there have been instances here and there.
  6. I just think there are better methods of copy protection than forcing the end user to install spyware on his or her computer. I think the best way ist to set up a set of CD Keys that only legitmate registered copies of a product recieve patches and unpdates, as well have online support (either for gaming or other functions), anbd if you do not have a legitimate copy you may use the software all you want, but it will be as is with no support whatsoever. Of course allow a person buy a CD key off the main site would also be allowable as well.

TADS is only for those chosen few. QFT Can't be all that choosy. I got an account there.
  8. JE is the best action CRPG I have ever played. Diablo is the utter worst action CRPG I have ever played. Unlike Diablo, there was actual role playing in Jade Empire. Oblivion and Bloodlines are somewhere in the middle.
  9. True enough. I guess it will take more than just the tomb of Jesus to shake faith, but of course if one has strong enough faith nothing in the world can shake it loose.
  10. When is 76%, a C grade average, considered a high score?
  11. An even better reason to take a pass on it.
  12. The thing is does it really matter if it is or not? Do you really think this discover will change how one will view Christianity or change the way a Christian venerates his or her deity?
  13. Add in a full tools system and you got Neverwinter Nights 3, or how Neverwinter Nights 3 should be. Obsidian, get cracking! For that would be the god of Fantasy CRPGs.
  14. That is one's worship and practice of religion. Discussing it on a academic level for debate on its efects on society and politics is all fine and good.
  15. I would stage an accident during the podrace that would kill Anakin, with all the evidence pointing towards Watto as the killing, and as a Jedi I would impose "justice" on the little bugger and kill him, taking what parts I needed to get off that god forsaken planet.
  16. Recently there has been a lot of news reports about the documentory and a book of all things about this Lost Tomb of Jesus. The basic rundown is that those who found it claim that this is the tomb of Jesus Christ, that he wasn't ressurected and he had a kid to boot. As I read the article and watch the news reports on this, for some odd reason I find religion fascinating, I realize I really didn't care too much about it. If it is the tomb of Jesus, good for him. If not, well good for the guy entombed for now he had his post-mortem 15 minutes of fame. In my particular view this does not change my view on Christianity, for good or ill, one way or another. Although the religion may have started out as teachings of a man named Jesus, after 2000 years of expansion, interpretations, re-interpretations, a reformation here and there, Christianity today is very different than what it was when it first started. What Christianity is today and how it effect people alive in the here and now is what matters, for good or ill, not whether or not Jesus was entombed or resurrected. Who knows, he might have resurrected, got married, had a kid, then died. There is no way in knowing with any sort of certainty. Some say that this may be bunk, others may say it is true, but I say that it is irrelevant. Anyway, I am curious what you guys think about this whole Jesus tomb business.
  17. Its not a CRPG so I will more than likely pass.
  18. Not bad. Not bad at all.
  19. Someone needs to make a Deekin mod for Doom. DOOM! Doomidy DOOM!

*pounces on Tale and shoves the Bismarck down his throat* Whoa... Wrong Bismarck. *quietly walks away*
  21. A Buffyverse CRPG would be cool, but a Conspiracy X (which uses the same basic rules as the Buffyverse PnP RPG) would be cooler. Hey, Volourn, there are a number of Buffyverse Mushes out there. From what I have heard Devilshire is a pretty good one.
  22. Well, I can play Fallout so all is good.
  23. Weird. I got both KotOR and KotOR 2 working on my Vista system. Have you tried putting them in Windows XP compatibility mod?
