Well, I just got Stalker. Haven't done much except installed it along with the patch. I have tomorrow off so I will make some headway in the game then.

China: A Look at the Future of Capitalism
I think current human civilization is very remarkable in its tenacity in achieving new technologies, advancing literature and philosophy, and achieving new techniques to destroy one another. The human species, unlike any other, is dichotomy of being, that it is a creature capable of unimaginable cruelty and great acts of compassion. We have the ability to destroy all life on this planet with a flip of a switch yet still have individuals willing to sacrifice their lives for the good of others. If that is not remarkable then what is.

The Battlestar Galactica Thread
One of the reasons why I don't watch Lost is that I missed the first two seasons.

China: A Look at the Future of Capitalism
Duty and obligations, Lyric? Duty to what? Obligated to whom? I have a duty to myself, and only obligated to myself. No more and no less. I don't like political correctness all that much but what is wrong with Feminism and Multiculturism? Are you saying that women shouldn't be equal? That they belong in the kitchen and not as equals? What we gain is different ideas, diversity, people being treated as equals instead of being looked at as inferior. If those are not gains to you then you are a lost cause, Lyric.

Great news from Feargus
I don't know about religious based games, but one that is set up like The Stand would be cool. 99.99999% of humanity dead, but all the wonders of modern life , and all their needs to use them, still exists. Roving bands of survivors seeking to etch out a new existance while a supernatural evil lurks to take advantage of man's down fall. It could be yummy.

Is this really that different than the Muhammad drawings?
On occasion I do form some sort of wit.

I count any game or work of fiction that relies on the supernatural or paranatural as a integral part of its setting and/or story as fantasy.

Did you actually read the post. I very much clarified that I was talking about Bioware's CRPGs. You even quoted me on it. And I did miscount. It is 8 DnD/d20 System CRPGs to 3 non-DnD/d20 System CRPGs. I forgot to count ME because its not on a platform I can play on. Come on now, keep up.

I was counting only CRPGs, Volourn. Last I checked MDK2 and Shattered Steel aren't CRPGs.

Bloodlines wasn't generic fantasy. Arcanum isn't generic fantasy. Hmmm... Those are just off the top of my head. Llyranor is just being an ass because way way way back when I said Dragon AGe looked like vaporware because Bioware went all on about the game yet didn't actually show anything about it except a few concept drawings and 2 very early build screenshots for years. It kind of looked like the whole Duke Nuke'm Forever fiasco to me at the time.

Its a DnD game. I expected it to be generic, so why would I whine about a DnD game fitting my expectations? Volourn, of all the CRPG titles they have released, expansions included, 8 are Dungeons and Dragons or uses the d20 System as a base while 2 are not.

I would be first in line for any CRPG that is "good." In some cases "not so good" as well. I only play, for the most part, CRPGs.

The poverty of CRPGs is the only reason I would get DA.

Generic is generic, may it be generic fantasy or generic sci fi, or whatever. Beleive what you will, Volourn, not that it matters a whole lot. No, I don't have the game on pre-order. I am going to wait for the first patch or three before buying it. Something I should have done with Jade Empire. Live and learn, I guess. I will probably end up getting DA mainly because I like CRPGs and well, there aren't really enough out there on the market to be overly choosey. If I had to choose between Obsidian's Alien game or Bioware's Dragon Age, I would choose Obsidian.

New Die Hard trailer
I really don't know.

I am just saying, Maria, there is nothing there to get excited about. Bioware is making just another generic fantasy CRPG like they have before, like so many other game companies have done before. Its just getting tiresome.
-
DA Info
No, it is still generic fantasy because it has all been done before and done so across many many many products. Something that is common and unoriginal is generic. Hell, even Oblivion has damage reduction based on armor.

Been there, done that with the Ultima series and in PnP. You seem to forget that I have been doing CRPGs back in the days of Vic 20. I have seen all sorts of shapes and sizes of CRPGs. Wizard's Crown, Eternal Dagger, the Phantasie and Ultima series, and the like. Bioware is not doing anything new. hell, as for armor giving damage reduction, I have used that in my PnP campaigns and DnD has rules for that as a variant.

I probably will be getting the game because I am a CRPG nut but I will be in no rush to get it. Right now NWN2 fulfills all my needs for a fantasy CRPG. Now if Bioware was to release a sci fi CRPG for the PC then I probably be pre-ordering it right now.

New Die Hard trailer
Natalie Portman is playing the kid of Indiana Jones and woman from the first movie. Can't remember her name for some odd reason.
